In the continuing saga of our lousy healthcare system, I literally went into the office at ArchWell Health in Apache Junction to discuss the situation of the MRI on the growth in my husbands neck being cancelled for the second time. They told me that I had to contact the insurance company. Once again I told them that the insurance company stated the PROVIDER had to contact them - not me. I left letting them know, LOUDLY, that I was going to get an attorney. I took my poor husband out to Los Gringos to get lunch (where he ate well) and while there I called Cigna who told me I needed to talk to Evacor and put me through to them. I then got a representative from EVACOR, the underwriter for Cigna - on the phone, SHE called the office (with me on the line) and asked to speak with the provider and instead was handed off to her assistant. She fortunately recorded all of the conversation as she tried to get them to understand that the Provider had to request a reconsideration. She then transferred the assistant and myself over to a physician referral individual with Evecor but the Dr.s assistant at ArchWell Health - Apache Junction hung up before she could even speak with him. This was after I spent an HOUR on the phone with Evecor. The Physician referral/advocate rep then told me it all now had to come from Cigna as Dick was on Medicare and that NO, I could not do it for the providers office - the PROVIDER HAD TO DO IT.
This has been the ONGOING argument with the staff at the Apache Junction Archwell Health office. They truly are incompetent.
I returned home to find a voice mail message stating to call them as my Dr wanted to make another appointment for me (I cancelled it on the 1st through the so called assistant). I bluntly told them that until my husband was taken care of there would be NO follow up appointments for me.
What the hell else do I have to do? If this growth in my husbands neck is cancer --- WTF can I do?
I am waiting for a call from our Doctor as I told the young woman who called me that I would NOT speak with her assistant or anyone else until her incompetent staff was dealt with.
48 hours later and still NO call from the Provider. No update on the needed MRI which the Insurance company was on the phone with me and them at the same time (recording) that it was up to the Provider to handle - not the patient.
Called the ENT referral and they asked me if the imaging had been done. After almost a month I told them NO because the provider refused to work with the Insurance Company or return my calls. Complaints have been filed electronically with the State Medical Board, the AMA and Medicare. The ENT will order the imaging. God help us if this is Cancer. We are leaving Archwell effective immediately. read more
