When I first signed up for the gym membership here, I was expecting to work out among only the senior members of the local community - not that that would be a bad thing. But then I was the more surprised that the clientele here is actually very diverse: from the teens, who are posing in front of the mirrors in the locker rooms to show off their muscles, the bus drivers working out during their breaks, the house wives gathering in the morning to do engage in chit-chat on the cross trainers, and the grandma from next door who's the most enthusiastic participant in the tummy session... When you join with a yearly membership - which is really affordable - you get a package of personal training sessions, a gym towel, a T-shirt and a water bottle...all this is nothing fancy, but then again it kind of entices you to continue coming. Also, the trainers here are really great, I have to say. What's best about them is that they engage in ever-so-brief conversations with you; they ask you how you're coming along, or when you haven't been there for a while, they notice you coming back and congratulate you on that. I have used this pool a lot over the years as a great place for younger kids to gain pool confidence and have fun. Its another beach style pool with a tiled island area - perfect for little ones getting to grips with jumping in the water. Much of this pool is really shallow. It has a reasonable wave machine - with a shelf you can sit on and get battered by the waves. Great fun when the kids were under 8 - we came here after school every 3 weeks over a couple of years (we use to alternate with Britannia in Hoxton and Waterfront in Woolwich) - but we have outgrown it . All the kids swim competitively now and the fun here is too tame for them (even with the youngest at 9). It has a really small swim around the island with no jets - just a waterfall that flows over your head as you swim by. A good shower jet for standing under that is powerful and always catches new visitors out as they desperately try to stop the jet removing their swimsuit. There is one slide which is great for first slide experiences....It snakes directly over the pool and is only half tube so if you go fast enough you get to splash the water over the top onto the pool below (and unsuspecting swimmers). Guess I spent too much time here. Main jacuzzi pool was always out of action and the small version was pretty poor. They do offer lane swimming if you want to train after public sessions - they stretch a few ropes across - so many better places to train, not sure why anyone would use this unless they lived next door.. We got to know most of the staff really well - slide was always open and on quiet nights we would get the waves to order. If you are looking to build water confidence in your toddlers or provide fun for under eights then this is great - otherwise travel there are better places about. Showers hit and miss, changing facilities basic and there is a gym. Never used it so cannot comment. read more

Hiorrible place i use the Gym purely because it's local however looking to change once my memebership runs out. Staff are generally not very bright, never seem to know whats going on if you ask them anything. Gym itself is small and at peak times hard pressed to find a machine. The Mens changing rooms are the most disgusting i have ever seen. Trust me I have been to some developing countries with better changing rooms. Don't worry pictures to follow. read more

Please see my review for aquterra leisure, this is the only branch i really use. It has a leisure pool with early morning, lunchtime and evening 25m lane swimming and a good gym upstairs. Lots of classes from what I can gather too. In addition they have a sauna and plunge pool. I generally just swim here. read more

This is a pretty good swimmong pool, although it really is for families and children, not for serious up-and-down swimmers. There isn't much space for exercise-swimming, but plenty for playing. It is really more like a landscaped garden, but a swimming pool one. It has a glass roof so light pours in, white walls and floors, which give it a sunny, holiday feel, warm water (30 degrees), and special features such as little waterfalls and bubbly bits. There is a little bubbly bit for children, and a jacuzzi for adults overlooking the pool, so parents can relax while keeping an eye on their children. On top of all this, it has a water slide! swiming pool is quite good. But didnt like the entrance to the changing room but overall good pool

It is well kept, local, not expensive and it provides what it needs to provide. I understand there are bits and pieces not necessary spotless and those that require some work but it is a big place and not part of 5 star hotel to pay £200 per hour of a swim and therefore I close my eye and try not to see what one of Yelpers shows on his pictures. This is a terrible swimming pool I hate it so much! to day I got kicked out for breathing in a test and they said to me "I took to many breaths " I used to come here all the time as a child and I loved it so much now the cleaners don't clean up the mess and don't even care about the health and the environment. And the worst part is that I got no refund! They have just changed completely and they are so mean. I even saw poo on the floor and told the cleaner but they never came to clean it up. It was a terrible experience for me. I always used to come here when I was younger and we never had to do the 25m swim test. Whilst I was swimming I took one breath between the test, all I did was pop my head up and put my head back in the water they said to me " you took too many breaths!" Instead of telling me to not go to the deep end they kicked me and my cousin out. We had to change in the dirty changing rooms with hair all over the floor it was really disgusting and sickening for me to even look at. I also overheard people talking about how they called the cleaners to clean up. I saw a child poo in the floor many people called the cleaners but they never came. The worst part is they didn't give the money back to us because of the stupid new company policy however they didn't let us know in advance about the no refund policy. They never told us how we had to swim the lifeguard also said you have to swim by doing breaststroke or frontstroke they did not tell us anything about how we had to swim we just swam at the way we swam when we were younger. I hated it so much thanks archway swimming pool for ruining my childhood!!!! I advice everyone to not go there as well as it is a very bad swimming pool. read more
