This is not a heavily reviewed category on Yelp so I briefly read the reviews and picked Chao. Easy to find on 3rd St at the beach. It's in the same plaza as Metro Diner but at the other end. We popped in on a Saturday and were promptly greeted and attended to. We were able to look around a bit but also received some suggestions on what the staff thought would look nice which is always appreciated. We had it narrowed down to a few options and then talked amongst ourselves to make the final selection. The nice young lady entered the order into the computer and the manager or owner stepped in and told her to apply a discount which was super cool. They told us our order would be ready in a couple of weeks and sure enough they called on time to inform us it was ready. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, super selection of frames to choose from and the quality of the work was terrific!

Well, having said that. Why was I here? Well after getting a wonderful canvas painting of theologian Jonathan Edwards's famous 70 resolutions, I needed to acquire a means to mount it on my wall. A few years back in San Diego, the Hobby Lobby there did wonders on my retirement certificate, so choosing to come here in JAX was easy. The gentleman who assisted me was outstanding. Certainly a veteran of the department he works in at the framing area. All I needed were two hooks and a wire threaded through and only $3 later, I had my Resolutions ready to display! I did leave with a nice Hobby Lobby canvas with a biblical message on it, but needed to fix that one in a different manner. It's still waiting to be displayed. After this, I walked around looking at all the crafts, displays, etc and noted that they were getting ready for two things early. One was Autumn as there was a ton of orange color there. Also, I saw that it was beggining to look a lot like Christmas as well! There are plenty of wreaths, decorations, etc. around that will help people get an early Holiday Season start. Also, pay attention to the 40% off signs. I got 60% off the canvas portrait I purchased. It amounted to $6 when all was said and done. Hobby Lobby is a great place to find deals on their arts and crafts. I know I'll be back when I have a desire to purchase more canvas portraits in the days ahead! Recommend: VERY HIGH

I walk in mostly for the great array of gifts spanning from geeky cookbooks and plushies to cute, niche purses and crafting kits. There's some adorable gift wrap and greeting cards, too. I'm not so much of an artist, but do need things framed from time to time. The framing department at Reddi-Arts is one of the best kept secrets in Jacksonville. I've gotten some wonderful pieces framed by them over the years as gifts and for personal items of my own. The folks there are wonderful to work with and there are plenty of options for frames to choose from at affordable prices.

And the aisle of brushes- I may have picked up a pack! I want to hit the loose brushes hard. And I already have a ton of brushes! I went in with the idea of restraint. I have a lot of supplies already at home, but everything is SO tempting!!! Plus I got a grand opening discount~ hey heeeyyyyy!!! The ladies at the register even helped me look up more poorly described brush I have at home! I would love a replacement- but it's quite an unusual brush. They found it on the website!
