Very very close to MDW When I touch down home = Chicago and want to grab my spirits before hopping on I-55 to head downtown to my hotel I stop here. I will say the customer service is wishy washy as some people assume your there to steal or waste their time and not buy anything and others take you around suggest things and are helpful so beware. All in all if you know what you want like I do when I arrive you can just go to it and check out . read more

Very friendly. Very clean and professional. Will be back again. Always have what you looking for and if they don't the will go out there way to order it. read more

Decided to stop by for some beer after dropping off someone at Midway. They have a small, but good selection and I appreciate the ability to get some of the beers as single cans instead of the full four pack. The best find was a 2018 Deth Tar, which was super cool. read more

This place is awesome and had a bottle of Bourbon that I had been searching for, for two months and they had it just sitting there behind the registrar. This is my new go to Hidden gem. read more

Great place, and awesome staff. If they don't have it, they'll do their best to try and get it for you. They know their spirits too. Not a huge wine selection but they have an awesome beer and liquor selection on hand. 1st Fridays of the month has food trucks out, weather permitting of course read more

A man must admit his mistakes after all it is the act of acknowledgement of one's own shortcomings, let downs, and miss haps that make the man With that being said, I ask this query "when was the last time you pissed yourself"? don't lie, be honest and "staining" counts I used to be able to admit that the last time I did this, I was 3 and wore corduroy overalls, Velcro shoes, and had no grasp of the holy trinity or indoor plumbing. this was until a visit to Archer Liquors. Was it the first time there? No The first time i had beer? Certainly not. Just a random night a cold and snowy night. Feeling parched, listless and without gainful employment I made the short jaunt over to the southwe st side purveyor of sudsy delight. Like a fat child in a candy store I bounded their cramped aisles and cold domestic and imported beer section. Grabbing names like Ayinger, Golden Pheasant, Dead guy Ale, and Samuel Smith's winter ale. Standing at the counter the service noticed I was hobbled by a recent injury and ordered one of their help to assist in hefting my large box of beer into my truck. A fine gesture indeed. Although the prices on some of their more exotic offerings may seem quite high they're actually as low and some times even lower than the "big box liquor stores", plus they don't have silly member cards. Staff has always been very helpful and courteous. Making my route back to the homestead, I rang some comrades and let them in on my new found bounty. What followed was the usual tomfoolery and hi jinx that follow a $85 purchase of both foreign and domestic beers. loud stereo drunken arguments wrestling exhibitions in the front room moments of heartfelt apologies consequent retraction of heartfelt apologies talking about baseball in the middle of the winter and eating lunch meat and cheese with no bread it all ended in a blur Lingering visions of the night blurred by malted hops Awakening on the living room Asian rug in the morning, i was chance to find my crotch and pant leg soaked. "What was this " I wondered, wafting the smell toward my nostrils In an instant it became quite clear either my comrades had poured distilled water on my crotch after I fell asleep or the cat jumped up on me and pissed on my pants. After further inspection I found both of the scenarios to be quite silly I was resigned to the fact that I had pissed myself. It was well hidden for many days, not even the wife knew. Then some days later it came up in a conversation amongst friends. It was agreed that it does indeed happen from time to time after copious amounts of alcohol are ingested. I gave testimony of that fate full evening and the surprise that awaited in the morning. A "mea culpa" of sorts My admission was meet with a compassionate and caring tone from my mates. "Happens to all of us sometime, buddy" they reassured me. read more

This was our spot for buying good beers when we lived on the Southwest side. Prices are great, as is the selection; the guy who runs this place is a real beer enthusiast who knows his stuff. If he doesn't have something and you want it, chances are he'll order it for you. Also, if you're interested in home brewing, this is a great place to go to get supplies. Hit up Joe and Franks on Archer and Harlem after you pick up your booze to grab some of their great polish sausage to throw on the grill! read more

Sure you could spend an hour or more in Binny's, getting starstruck by all the beers that they carry and the get lost in aisles that make your head spin. Or you could take a trip down Archer Avenue and visit Archer liquors. If you're a beer enthusiast, make a visit and you will be suprised at how much craft beer they have for such a small space. They have a good selection from breweries all over the country, including Bear Republic, Great Lakes, Southern Tier, Three Floyds, Stone and Lagunitas. The nice thing about this place is that they are very reasonably priced, the staff are friendly and you can build a six pack with any beer in the store (they all have single bottle prices). If you visit their website they've got a fresh report of new beers they get in and their beer guy is very knowledgeable. Another fun thing to do while getting your beer is play Find the six pack holders. They've got a box of empty holders to build your own sixer that float around the store, so if you can't find them right away, just keep looking. Just don't remove bottles from a full sixpack and use it. They're not too keen on that. On a recent trip I bought some 22 ounce craft beers, built my own sixpack and bought a bottle of sobieski bizon grass all for under 50 bucks. Defintely one of my regular stops. read more

This is where you go if you want good beer and singles. Really hard to find a spot in this city that offers individual sales, but Archer excels in this. They have great brews like Toppling Goliath and 3 Floyd's as well as the very locals. Prices are U.K. early very reasonable and only slight upsell for individual sales. Beer knowledge comes standard with the people who work here and they let you do your thing and explore but are always there to help. Truly a gem in Chicago and worth a trek towards Midway if a true beer nerd. read more

A great selection of micros, cheap stuff and the classic neighborhood ethnic brews. Excellent pricing on top shelf stuff, and it has that smell. When you enter you are faced with that reality of, huh, is this what it has come to, am I really drawn towards this place. Yes like a moth to the moon, cramped, stinky, and crowded with old Poles who if arrested would be placed in front of a fire hose, I love those old tough guys. If they can speak your language ask them about the bad old days, when the Reds ran their country, and how walking up to the liquor store to harden their liver had been a life long dream. The help is intense, tattood, snarkey and quick to turn on a punk with no ID. These ladies can take you out by your hair if they need to so don't try any funny business. They even post their new inventory on a website! http://www.archerliquors.com/ArcherLiquors/Home.html read more

I'm going to agree with previous posters that it looks kind of sketch... but c'est la vie! What brought me here was I saw online that they had Sierra Nevada/Dogfish Head's Life & Limb, which is really difficult to find; I e-mailed them, and "Randy" e-mailed me back saying that he put a bottle (the limit) on hold for me until I could come pick it up. I thought it was really cool that he would do that for me. When I went in, I was really confused-- am I really getting some world class beer at a place that has cases of camo print high life?! Then I walked to the other part of the store, and why yes, yes I am. As a note on price: I actually found them to be cheaper than other places I had looked: Goose Island Bourbon County was 11.99 compared to 13.99 at Binny's, etc. I wish I had gotten to shoot the shit about beer for a while, but there were doing inventory so I only got to talk a little. They have a pretty good selection, and what I consider to be really reasonable prices. Now if I didn't live so goddamn far away from it.... read more

Though I've lived in the area my whole life, I've only stepped in the place once. My girlfriend and I had purchased a brew in Logan Square and when we had wanted it again, the store didn't have it. We searched for it online and found it in my backyard. 4 stars for the beer selection is pretty damn good considering the alternatives. Prices are reasonable for the mainstream, and a little pricey for the smaller(better) stuff. read more

Archer is fantastic. I live right down the block and joined the rewards program, which I think is the perfect complement to a loyal neighborhood. The program protects the members ability to buy rare beers, when available utilizing points they accrue with every purchase they make. Why is that great? So many people in the neighborhood like coming to archer and spending their money there instead of driving half an hour to a Binnys. They're rewarded by archer for being loyal customers by being given access to the good stuff. Otherwise, people who never frequent the establishment would be able to come by, spend money there one time on a rare beer and then the loyal customers get beat out by a hound. I love it! Archer is the only place I go, it's the only place I need to go and I will always be happy to spend my money and collect my rewards! Thank you for taking care of the neighborhood! read more

Went to my first First Friday tonight! Met so many awesome ppl.... from the manager to the checkers ( who know EVERYTHING about their product and how to claim exclusive deals on hard to get beverages) to the liquor distributors (free tastings) to the food trucks in the parking lot and neighbors I haven't seen in a while...simply an awesome event for the Garfield Ridge community!! Thank You Archer Liquors!!! See you Oct 5th read more

Come about once every 2 months I order kegs they have the best deals and have them for you in a couple of days if u request a special one. They usually have on hand miller light mgd and bud. Staff is friendly. Other spirits are not over priced. Thay have a variety of beers on hand. Cant go wrong coming here. read more

Love this place! Awesome selection of craft and local beers. If they dont have something you like from a particular brewer, just bring it up to them and they will try and get in stock and keep it in stock. Every month they have "First Friday" of the month with food trucks and tastings from distributors. Their prices are spot on and employees are friendly and very knowledgeable about what you're buying. You can also become a points member and earn points towards exclusive and early releases of hard to find ales and merchandise. Best liquor store in the area by far if you are a craft beer drinker. read more

Very excellent craft bomber selection, ability to grab a single from any package in the store, also an excellent rewards program. I only visit when I am back in my old hood visiting my parents but I am always treated like a local regular patron. Fairly knowledgeable staff and have even had a worker (owner?) crack open a brew in the store for me to taste just because I was asking about it. Wonderful establishment. read more

Small and compact. Man, can this place pack itself with liquor! Quick and friendly service for your regular drunk like me.

Archer Liquors is a much welcomed stop in the neighborhood. They have a fantastic beer selection- much much better than some of the larger chain stores and their rewards program is great too. I also love the first Friday food truck event they have each month. If there's ever anything you are looking for and can't find, the guys at the counter are always super helpful! read more

Archer liquors had a great selection and everyone working there is so helpful. They tend to have things that are difficult to find anywhere else. They also have vendors come in with samples some weekends which is really cool and food trucks in the parking lot on Fridays during the summer. If they don't carry something you're looking for, they offer to order it for you. Great place. read more

Not the largest selection of craft beers from a quantity standpoint, but from a quality standpoint? Outstanding. Stopped in for the first time last night and walked away VERY impressed. One great feature? On craft beers you can take a single out of a six pack and do some sampling. Picked up several 12 oz. bottles and bombers rated 100 on ratebeer.com, including quite a few I have never tried. But being able to take home a single instead of a whole six pack makes me MUCH more willing to try something I haven't tried before, but am not quite sure about. This will definitely make my list of regular stores I stop at once every week or two to check out if anything new is available. They had several things I haven't seen anywhere else, so the guy who handles the beer knows his stuff extremely well. read more

A great small liquor store on the southside. Lots of import and microbrew choices, which is surprising since most south side bars are your standard Bud/Miller/Coors type of stuff you wouldn't think you'd find a gem like this. I'm in here probably 6-8 times a year when I'm in the area. I will stop in even when I don't need beer. I've never left empty handed. read more

A gem in the rough indeed. This is the spot for rare and popular craft beers, but you have to ask behind the counter. It's not the best location and the outside can look typical, but take a look inside you won't be disappointed. read more

I rarely write reviews but these two guys behind the register are not only good with customer service, but very knowledgeable about craft beer. They have a good beer selection and are great with providing other beers. read more

They have a pretty good craft beer selection, so definitely stop in if you are into craft beers. Service here has been bad for me. A few times when I have called to ask if they have something, I have been hung up on. Also, on two different occasions they said they would hold something for me to pick up, and upon arrival they said they did not have it. I know some items are hard to find and they don't have to sell them to just anyone, but at least tell that up front so I don't drive all the way over there. read more

Great local spot that offers an awesome variety of craft brews. Love that they look out for the people from the neighborhood with their points system and promote the local breweries. Great way to get ahold of some hard to find brews. Staff is friendly and offer good input. Love their first Fridays too! Good food trucks and beer tastings. Can't go wrong. read more

Great place on the southwest side of Chicago for craft beer. Not the place to go if you're looking for a good bottle of wine but their beer selection is outstanding. Every first Friday of the month they have featured alcohol tasting and food trucks. The owners and the people that work there are very friendly as well as knowledgeable about beer. They aim to please. read more

They have a lot of stuff but... I called ahead to see if they had something really specific that I couldn't find anywhere and when they said "yes but we have a limit on how much you can buy" I drove out of my way to go. Then when I got there they wouldn't let me buy it because I wasn't a part of their little point program. That's just poor customer service. They did not gain a new customer with that attitude. read more
