Dr. Gordon is absolutely wonderful. A trusted friend referred me to him for my 4.5-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi's neutering procedure and dental cleaning. I'm a first-time pet owner, and this was my first time having my dog go under anesthesia. I know these are very standard procedures, but I was extremely nervous about all of it. During the initial exam, Dr. Gordon discovered a bladder stone as well. He clearly explained the treatment options and made thoughtful recommendations for next steps. After the exam, he personally emailed the lab and bloodwork results and answered all my follow-up questions quickly and kindly. The surgery itself went very smoothly. Dr. Gordon and his team gave clear instructions for after-care. At the end of the procedure day, Dr. Gordon emailed to check in on my dog, and he checked in again a couple of days later. I sent him updates and photos of the incision site, and he responded each time with helpful feedback. I also sent updates on day 5 (when we finished post-op medications) and again on day 10. He reviewed the photos and provided his insights. My dog's recovery was overall very smooth, and as of day 10, he has been cleared of the donut! It was far beyond my expectations for Dr. Gordon to provide so much personal follow-up outside of our clinic visits. He genuinely cared about how my dog was doing, and I'm very grateful for that level of care. Additional details: - Parking: Free parking available; the clinic is up a flight of stairs. - Check-in/Wait Time: Both our exam and surgery check-ins were quick and the wait time was minimal. - Communication: Communication with the front desk was clear and easy via email, text, and phone. - Clinic: The space is very nice and clean. - Wi-Fi: They have guest Wi-Fi, which was helpful as my cell service wasn't great in the area. - Cost: Prices are on the higher end, but I feel it's completely worth it for the attentive care and peace of mind. - Staff: The front office staff and nurses were all kind and helpful. I'm an anxious person, and they were so patient with me, which I really appreciate! My dog is skeptical of new people but can be won over with treats, and the staff offered him treats with my permission to help him feel comfortable. Dr Gordon has been taking care of my dog since she was a puppy. He was recommended by our neighbor and our dog trainer. He's the perfect vet that we always trust: When our puppy was spayed, he updated us every hour on how she was doing. When she had a foxtail removed from her ear, he texted us a photo of the foxtail. When we had any tests with him, he emailed us the results within 24h. When we emailed him about our dog having issues at 4am, we had his reply within an hour. When he felt like she needed to be seen, he arranged to see her first thing in the morning. He always checks on her after a visit to make sure she's ok. I'm an anxious dog mom but with Dr. Gordon I never needed to ask him for any updates. He's always very prompt at replying to all my questions. The staff is also the best. My husband and I are medical professionals and we have been using Dr Gordon since we got our rescue puppy Jan of 2022. I'm from NY and am very picky about medical care, both for humans and for our fur child. I was worried that I wouldn't have access to same excellent care that I had back in NYC. When our new puppy turned into a medical nightmare, not eating and wasting away for the first 10 months of his life, Dr Gordon walked with us through every step of his intensive testing, which involved specialized blood tests, diagnostic imaging and an eventual surgical biopsy, until we reached a diagnosis. He reached out to appropriate specialists on his own in order to better understand and discuss our pups clinical picture and his prognosis. This wonderful care included evening and weekend discussions that we at first thought was part of professional Dr to Dr courtesy, but later came to realize was just how Dr Gordon treated all of his patients. Dr G always presented all of the care options and then gave his professional opinion on what he felt was medically necessary and what we could hold off on. Very helpful when you have a medically complex dog. When he finally recommended a surgical biopsy he explained that we could try a less invasive diagnostic exam first, but that in his opinion it would be low yield and we'd wind up needing to do the surgery anyway. My radiologist husband fully agreed with his assessment. Now that our pup is more stable, Dr G still makes himself available to answer questions about more normal things like rashes, etc. For example, over this holiday weekend one of our pups developed an angry red rash on his belly. We sent Dr G a picture and he wrote back suggesting a way to treat it. I don't know many vets that would be answering emails over holiday weekends much less recommend care without wanting to have the pet come in for an appointment. Just another indication that Dr G does his job for the love of the animals he serves. Care here might cost a little more but when you look at the total value of the service provided, it's worth it to me to know that if something goes awry, Dr G is always there. read more

Terrible care. Outrageously overpriced. Rude and condescending staff. They also don't take precautions to prevent your dog from getting sick in their office. Take a look at the attached quote for what was diagnosed as simple kennel cough an hour later by another vet where I only paid $130 total VS Arch Beach's $1000+ quote. Noteworthy: my dog got her annual Bordetella vaccine on 8/6 and got kennel cough on 9/3 from Arch Beach...the vaccine clearly wasn't stored or administered properly. I have no trust in Dr. Gordon and his staff. Stay away. Edit after Dr. Gordon's response: They asked me to sign off on this estimate without Dr. Gordon coming to talk to me and that is why I left. This isn't the first time I've been overcharged here. We also discussed that it wasn't bloat, and moved on, yet you still decided to throw that X-ray on there, again relying solely on your vet tech for me to sign off on everything. Your office is the only time Margot has interacted with dogs in weeks and likely the source of her kennel cough. You did multiple spays on the same day and sounds like they were in close proximity to each other given the size of your office. I'll also never forget you returning Margot to us covered in her own feces after surgery. Again "great" care, especially for the price tag. Still shocked I had to pay $170 for the visit this morning when you effectively did nothing. The other vet said your quote was aggressive and so was the suggested treatment. Great experience. We recently moved to the area and noticed a lump on our dog and made an appointment to establish care and get it looked at. We noticed it growing (or maybe it was my imagination) so I sent an email at 9:30pm to Dr. Gordon's office asking if there were any cancellations to get us in earlier. He personally replied the next morning at 5am saying he could slot us before the other scheduled appointments. When we came in, he and all the staff were very patient and caring. He took his time, did some diagnostics that a different vet didn't do and when we decided to remove the lump he did the surgery; our girl is now recovering. After the surgery, he followed up after-hours and over the weekend to ensure she was doing well. The office was clearly very busy but somehow we never felt rushed. I'm not a medical professional so have no basis to evaluate the actual clinical work but to a layman observer all looks good. What I can say is that Dr. Gordon clearly cares about both his animal patients and their human owners. I rely on yelp reviews to make many critical choices in which businesses I use, but never have had to rely on them as much as I did in this instance for my 8yr old beautiful dog CoCo. It started on a Wednesday night at 11pm when I noticed for the first time a lump on the right side of his face (I checked him every morning and night as he has had allergies and dry eyes that I need to stay on top of). It was very large as evident in the 1st photo below. The next day I took him to our regular vet in the morning and he believed it could be a tooth abscess, maybe cancer, but felt more tooth abscess and gave me antibiotics and said to call Monday if the mass had not gone down. Unfortunately it grew and on Friday I reached out to my neighbor whose dog had mouth cancer, we compared images and my heart sank as the two masses looked identical. Any animal parent knows how devastating cancer is and I knew I needed to find help right away. I scoured yelp across all of Southern California, I live in Riverside but knew I would go anywhere to try and save our baby. It was a horrible experience searching because you come across such horror stories of mistreatment by vets, surgeons and the loss of pets due to such negligence, after many hours I only found two 5 star rated veterinary options, that had not one single negative review, not one. UC Davis in San Diego and Arch Beach. Neither were open on the weekend so I knew I had to wait until Monday. On Saturday morning as I sat worrying, I remembered a review for Arch Beach that had a woman who had a problem with her dog on Christmas morning, she had emailed at 4am and amazingly got a reply just 5 mins later. I figured it was because she was an existing patient so she had access, but I thought what did I have to lose. I sent an email about Coco at 9am Saturday through the generic 'info' email on their website and unbelievably 5 minutes later I got an email from Dr Gordon asking for pictures! He scheduled us to come in 6:30am on Monday and performed removal surgery the same day (see pictures below). The Dr followed up several times throughout the night and over the next few days to ensure CoCo was doing well. We are far from over in this journey as we wait for the pathology results and the pathway to cancer treatment, and that road is going to be hard enough, however, having a partner vet that will hold your hand through the process and really care about you and your pet, well, there are simply no words. I do not know how long I will have CoCo, but I do know that I was able to get him help quickly and I have him with me now and that is priceless. I have had cats and dogs my entire life and I have never met a more caring and honest vet, most are too busy to be bothered or worse have become jaded and lash out at owners. Dr Gordon and his team are so nice, do not get me wrong, they are swamped with patients, but somehow you do not feel that and somehow they manage to help all who come and I can never thank them enough for being there when we needed them and taking care of CoCo. read more

I went because I was looking for a vet that would treat a dogs without a rabies vaccine. Many standard vets tend to over vaccinate so I was specifically looking for a more holistic vet. I think dr Gordon is great. He treated my pup and answered all my questions and emailed me the test results via email the next day. I just think it's a bit pricey - much more so than those other standard vets i mentioned earlier. I was quote around 60ish at another vet that refused to treat my dog without the vaccine and ended up paying over 200 here. I really wish they would open on weekends too. Our beautiful, sweet dog, Lulu was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure at the end of September 2020 and the traditional treatments were not effective. I knew in my heart it wasn't her time and I was fortunate to have chosen Dr. Gordon in the beginning of November 2020 to try acupuncture, as an alternative treatment for kidney issues. Our old vet retired so we've been looking for a new one. My little guy had an issue and it was very important to me that I find a holistic vet. After some internet research, I stumbled across Dr. Gordon at Arch Beach Vet Clinic. After reading the amazing reviews, I made an appointment. We took Dexter in for the minor issue, which he assured me I was already doing everything right. He also took a look at Dexter's teeth and informed me that I needed to get him in pretty quickly for a dental cleaning and probable extraction. We did the blood work that day to make sure his numbers were good. Blood work came back stellar so it was time to book the appointment. To say I was a nervous wreck, is a true understatement. Dexter is a 4 1/2 lb Morkie..., he's such a little guy. Anesthesia isn't even an exact science with humans so the thought of my heart and soul going under was almost too much for me. After our first appointment, Dr. Gordon emailed me (yes, he himself emailed me - I've never experienced a vet reaching out like that) and gave me some information on dental cleanings. I responded back with the most detailed absurd questions, to which he promptly answered every single one. The day came, I took Dexter in at 7:30am and was greeted by Heidi, who was wonderful. I then met with Maria, the RVT, who was also amazing, and went over every single thing that would happen that day, then Dr Gordon came out and answered any additional questions I had and then he took Dexter back. I've never experienced a vet coming out and personally taking my pup back. I got a call from Dr Gordon a couple hours later informing me of his progress and assuring me that Dexter was doing good and I got another call from him once Dexter was finished and waking up. When I picked Dex up, Maria took me in a room and went over everything in detail and then her and Dr Gordon brought a Dex to me. He followed up that night with a phone call and an email and he followed up again the next morning to check on Dex. I honestly can't tell you how extremely satisfied I am with everyone I've encountered at Arch Beach Vet. They are caring, precise, and absolutely amazing. As usual Dr. Gordon reviewed what, if any, issues I was concerned about with my older dog. One of the many reasons I like Dr. Gordon is because he is always researching and keeping up with new treatments, medications, etc. I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Gordon for the last 25 years and have recommended him to many of my friends and their pets. I always leave knowing he has reviewed everything and considered all that needs to be done in regard to the best treatment and outcome for my dog. He has many 5 star reviews, and deservedly so. If you are interested in a holistic approach with acupuncture, he does that as well. I mention that because I have found the acupuncture treatments to really make a difference with my older dog. Dr. Gordon and his staff are the absolute best. He has taken care of my two girls for years and has always been available 24/7 to answer questions and is always so prompt when we need any help or medications. His office has the most state of the art equipment and the friendliest staff. Whenever we have an emergency, he will do his utmost best to get us in as early as possible, and always follows up to see how my girls are doing. Very overdue review but I cannot express how glad I am I found Arch Beach Vet! I have a 16 year old maltese who has a heart murmur and the vet I've taken him to for all of his vet visits since he was a pup has given up on him. They told me he had a grade 5-6 heart murmur and that there was nothing else they or I can do for him but to provide him with "hospice care" and prepare to say goodbye. At most, he'd live a few months or less but considering how energetic and lively he still was for his age, I had to get a second opinion. So upon searching, I came across Dr. Gordon and his wonderful team who have given me hope and lifted my spirit after everything I was told by the other vet. He gave us the best care options according to his health and age and since our last visit, my fur baby has been thriving! He is taking daily medication that help with his heart functions and I can't thank Dr. Gordon enough for taking his time to get to know us and really care for him. I know my fur baby is growing old and I understand I may not have a lot of time left with him but every minute and every second I CAN spend with him matters greatly and I'm glad I was able to find someone who wasn't so quick to give up on him. Dr Gordon and his team at Arch Beach Vet Clinic in Laguna Beach are extraordinary. Our beautiful and highly loved family member, 11 year old American Bulldog Roxi who is normally highly energetic, picked up some foreign object in her right paw on a recent trip to Home Depot. She was in a lot of pain, and was struggling to walk. I took her to our usual vet in the Canyon, who would not listen to me, told me she had a swollen paw (dun!), said was from chewing her paw (she never has!), and sold me $300 in pain meds. She continued to limp and in pain, so I called a friend and asked who she took her dog to. She recommended Arch Beach Vet Clinic and Dr David Gordon. He listened, was kind and loving, caring and intelligent in his approach, found the piece of metal in her paw quickly with an x-ray, and solved the problem. Instant dog smiles!! He also detected a heart murmur we did not know about that could have been lethal, had a great cardiologist come by the same week to check her out, and we learned that her heart is healthy enough to live a great life. An excellent experience, and we are moving her medical records over. I highly recommend Dr David Gordon and his outstanding team @ Arch Beach Veterinary Clinic.
