Olly hardly able to breath and losing function of his bladder

After months of serious illness for a 5 year old dog and no diagnosis from multiple other vets and emergency clinics, Dr. Gordon was the only vet able to isolate the issue and prescribed treatment that completely solved & saved my dog. Other vets recommended putting him down...but now we have a completely healthy dog that hikes daily and gets to enjoy the rest of his life thanks to everyone at Arch Beach Vet

We were devastated when we learned our little Poodle boy of four had metastatic cancer. But with the support and empathy of Dr. Gordon and his team, we were able to release his suffering and give this gift of life back to where it had come. There are many great vets in South County, but none like Dr. Gordon. Thank you for making this difficult time more comforting for my husband and me.

My husband and I are medical professionals and we have been using Dr Gordon since we got our rescue puppy Jan of 2022. I'm from NY and am very picky about medical care, both for humans and for our fur child. I was worried that I wouldn't have access to same excellent care that I had back in NYC. When our new puppy turned into a medical nightmare, not eating and wasting away for the first 10 months of his life, Dr Gordon walked with us through every step of his intensive testing, which involved specialized blood tests, diagnostic imaging and an eventual surgical biopsy, until we reached a diagnosis. He reached out to appropriate specialists on his own in order to better understand and discuss our pups clinical picture and his prognosis. This wonderful care included evening and weekend discussions that we at first thought was part of professional Dr to Dr courtesy, but later came to realize was just how Dr Gordon treated all of his patients. Dr G always presented all of the care options and then gave his professional opinion on what he felt was medically necessary and what we could hold off on. Very helpful when you have a medically complex dog. When he finally recommended a surgical biopsy he explained that we could try a less invasive diagnostic exam first, but that in his opinion it would be low yield and we'd wind up needing to do the surgery anyway. My radiologist husband fully agreed with his assessment. Now that our pup is more stable, Dr G still makes himself available to answer questions about more normal things like rashes, etc. For example, over this holiday weekend one of our pups developed an angry red rash on his belly. We sent Dr G a picture and he wrote back suggesting a way to treat it. I don't know many vets that would be answering emails over holiday weekends much less recommend care without wanting to have the pet come in for an appointment. Just another indication that Dr G does his job for the love of the animals he serves. Care here might cost a little more but when you look at the total value of the service provided, it's worth it to me to know that if something goes awry, Dr G is always there.

Terrible care. Outrageously overpriced. Rude and condescending staff. They also don't take precautions to prevent your dog from getting sick in their office. Take a look at the attached quote for what was diagnosed as simple kennel cough an hour later by another vet where I only paid $130 total VS Arch Beach's $1000+ quote. Noteworthy: my dog got her annual Bordetella vaccine on 8/6 and got kennel cough on 9/3 from Arch Beach...the vaccine clearly wasn't stored or administered properly. I have no trust in Dr. Gordon and his staff. Stay away. Edit after Dr. Gordon's response: They asked me to sign off on this estimate without Dr. Gordon coming to talk to me and that is why I left. This isn't the first time I've been overcharged here. We also discussed that it wasn't bloat, and moved on, yet you still decided to throw that X-ray on there, again relying solely on your vet tech for me to sign off on everything. Your office is the only time Margot has interacted with dogs in weeks and likely the source of her kennel cough. You did multiple spays on the same day and sounds like they were in close proximity to each other given the size of your office. I'll also never forget you returning Margot to us covered in her own feces after surgery. Again "great" care, especially for the price tag. Still shocked I had to pay $170 for the visit this morning when you effectively did nothing. The other vet said your quote was aggressive and so was the suggested treatment. I'm not going to put my dog through unnecessary medications and stress.

Superb dental cleaning appointment with Crystal, Dr Gordon's sweet team member! Thanks Dr Gordon and the professional and efficient team at Arch Beach veterinary clinic for another awesome experience! So worth it! Cosmo and his Dentist mommy, truly appreciate his pearly white teeth and minty fresh breath! Well done Dr Gordon! You always go above and beyond :)

    Mass Monday Morning
    Michelle K.

I rely on yelp reviews to make many critical choices in which businesses I use, but never have had to rely on them as much as I did in this instance for my 8yr old beautiful dog CoCo. It started on a Wednesday night at 11pm when I noticed for the first time a lump on the right side of his face (I checked him every morning and night as he has had allergies and dry eyes that I need to stay on top of). It was very large as evident in the 1st photo below. The next day I took him to our regular vet in the morning and he believed it could be a tooth abscess, maybe cancer, but felt more tooth abscess and gave me antibiotics and said to call Monday if the mass had not gone down. Unfortunately it grew and on Friday I reached out to my neighbor whose dog had mouth cancer, we compared images and my heart sank as the two masses looked identical. Any animal parent knows how devastating cancer is and I knew I needed to find help right away. I scoured yelp across all of Southern California, I live in Riverside but knew I would go anywhere to try and save our baby. It was a horrible experience searching because you come across such horror stories of mistreatment by vets, surgeons and the loss of pets due to such negligence, after many hours I only found two 5 star rated veterinary options, that had not one single negative review, not one. UC Davis in San Diego and Arch Beach. Neither were open on the weekend so I knew I had to wait until Monday. On Saturday morning as I sat worrying, I remembered a review for Arch Beach that had a woman who had a problem with her dog on Christmas morning, she had emailed at 4am and amazingly got a reply just 5 mins later. I figured it was because she was an existing patient so she had access, but I thought what did I have to lose. I sent an email about Coco at 9am Saturday through the generic 'info' email on their website and unbelievably 5 minutes later I got an email from Dr Gordon asking for pictures! He scheduled us to come in 6:30am on Monday and performed removal surgery the same day (see pictures below). The Dr followed up several times throughout the night and over the next few days to ensure CoCo was doing well. We are far from over in this journey as we wait for the pathology results and the pathway to cancer treatment, and that road is going to be hard enough, however, having a partner vet that will hold your hand through the process and really care about you and your pet, well, there are simply no words. I do not know how long I will have CoCo, but I do know that I was able to get him help quickly and I have him with me now and that is priceless. I have had cats and dogs my entire life and I have never met a more caring and honest vet, most are too busy to be bothered or worse have become jaded and lash out at owners. Dr Gordon and his team are so nice, do not get me wrong, they are swamped with patients, but somehow you do not feel that and somehow they manage to help all who come and I can never thank them enough for being there when we needed them and taking care of CoCo.

My 6yr old girl is back!

My sweet 6 yr old Rubi is back to her old self and it's all thanks to Dr. Gordon. He noticed that she was limping, not because of sore paws how I mistakenly thought, but because of a bone spur. I wish I had taken her in sooner but it was challenging to find a vet I could trust and I have found just that in Dr. Gordon and his team. This review is overdue and I had meant to write it sooner. I was reminded when I saw Rubi running around today. I am so grateful for Dr. Gordon's keen eye and experience. His main recommendation was for me to help Rubi lose weight and we've done just that. She's lost 14 lbs since her visit a few months ago and shes running around doing zoomies in the backyard again! Thank you so much Dr. Gordon and Team!

They are always super responsive and incredibly accommodating. I really appreciate that they text me ahead of time within their arrival window so I can plan around errands or make sure I'm home -- that level of communication alone sets them apart. During visits, I never feel rushed. They truly take their time and meet Dory where she's at. Sometimes Dory can be a little anxious with acupuncture, and instead of forcing anything, we work together to find different ways to make the session as calm and stress-free as possible. The vet is open, honest, and collaborative -- I never feel upsold or pressured into anything. The results have been amazing. I noticed a huge improvement even after the very first (mini) session. Dory is 13 years old, and her hind legs had been very tight and clearly bothering her. Since starting acupuncture every two weeks, her hind legs look so much better. She's running up the stairs again, pulling me on walks, and even jumped off the bed last week -- things I honestly didn't expect to see again. What I also really value is that Sunnyside Vet works with my regular vet. They communicate, listen to what my primary vet has to say, and truly function as a team with one goal: doing what's best for Dory. They were also very honest about treatment frequency, explaining that some pets need less and some need more, which I appreciated. If you're even considering acupuncture or mobile veterinary care, I highly recommend at least calling Sunnyside Vet for an initial visit. They've made such a positive difference in my older baby's quality of life, and I'm incredibly grateful.

I wouldn't recommend this vet. They were nice and polite, however what happened with my senior…read moredog's care was unacceptable. My dog has a UTI and we were prescribed Amoxi/Clav based on culture results. I told Dr Miyata we had an existing bottle in the fridge from a prior emergency visit. I sent a picture, and she approved us using it. It had been reconstituted 24 days earlier (dispense date was in the picture), but since it was refrigerated and the vet said it was okay, I trusted her guidance. When I went to the pharmacy for a refill, I was told that liquid Amoxi/Clav expires 10 days after reconstitution, even in the refrigerator. So that means that my dog received ineffective medication this entire time. If I hadn't picked up a refill, I would never have known. When I notified the vet, she said she was "under the impression the bottle wasn't reconstituted." Huh?! But in the picture, the medication was clearly a liquid suspension, refrigerated, labeled "shake well," and had the dispense date. I have NEVER been dispensed Amoxi/Clav in powder form in my life. The explanation felt more like avoiding responsibility than acknowledging what happened. My dog is extremely fragile with CKD. We cannot afford delays or ineffective medication. This isn't about whether the outcome changes; it's about basic medical standards. You don't throw a lifejacket with holes to someone who's drowning just because they're already drowning. Expired or ineffective medication should never be approved. This felt negligent and dismissive, and that's why I can't trust this vet. I get that mistakes happen -- maybe she didn't look at the picture closely. We're all human. But what matters is owning them, being transparent, and correcting them. Instead, I was met with an explanation that didn't make sense at all and minimized what happened.

We were starting to lose hope and knew we needed guidance to help Nala trust us and feel secure. We reached out to Emily, and from her very first consultation, we knew we had made the right choice. Emily arrived calm and relaxed, allowed Nala to approach her at her own pace, and immediately showed us how Nala should properly greet people. From that moment, I knew Emily was the perfect trainer for us. We've been working with Emily for 3 months, focusing on how Nala approaches people entering our home, and the progress has been incredible. Nala is now a very obedient dog, and we feel confident managing visitors. Walks were our next challenge, and Emily guided us through trying different collars, learning how to use our body language and tone of voice, and properly using the leash and collar. She emphasized praise, play, and rewarding Nala when she succeeded, which helped release her energy in a positive way. We have since enrolled in group sessions to work on properly introducing Nala to other dogs. Thanks to Emily's guidance, Nala has truly transformed into a completely different dog. Emily gave us the tools to feel confident, comfortable, and capable as dog owners. She doesn't waste time--she gets results while ensuring we understand what we're doing and why. When she comes in and sets up shop (a comfortable blanket, music, oils) he immediately assumes position by laying down--no coaxing needed! Her magic hands transport him to doggie heaven, and her regular visits have helped literally reverse time. She really does have a gift, and I'm so grateful she's able to share it with our favorite son (we have six human sons). She's become like a member of our family and I would gladly recommend her to anyone!
