A neighbor recommended Welsch to me and I could not be more satisfied . I have a big home with 3 air conditioners and 3 furnaces, so I rely on them to keep working. Colin is our service person, and he is "the bomb". He is always on time, extremely good at what he does, very very thorough, and respectful to not only my husband and I, but treats my house respectfully also. I have one unit in the attic, and he never complains about crawling up that ladder in the heat to check it out. My pricing is a bit more due to the number of units I have, but the quality of service and respect is so worth it. The office staff is very organized also, and always kind /nice when scheduling or troubleshooting a problem.

    So this is not my usual review but there is NO WAY I can't brag just a bit on this local business…read morethat is just outstanding! I've used Welsch for over a decade and my family used them before that. So my experience runs deep. First thing you should know: their technicians stay. Meaning you benefit from their experience and commitment to Welsch's service standards, which are high. Recently, I had a blower motor go out. Jeremy came out within the hour (after hours), diagnosed the problem and had Scott on the phone to check inventory. It wasn't easy but Scott was on the phone at 8 AM, ready to set up an appointment to install the motor - less than 12 hours later! Incredible. Look, you might find cheaper but you won't find better service, more knowledgable technicians and an overall feeling of "We got you!" like you do with Welsch.

    Thomas came to our house to look at 2 air conditioning units that weren't working. He said that…read moreboth units were out of Freon. The newer unit was frozen over so he said he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it until the ice melted and the other was old and should be replaced. He became frustrated with me when I had trouble understanding what was causing the unit to freeze over if there was no Freon. He appeared arrogant and I was ready to send him home at that point, but my wife was mainly dealing with him and it was a hot day. When I complained to my wife about him she said that maybe I shouldn't have bothered him while he was working and that he was very nice to her. After examining the units he spent a while discussing our options which included a new air conditioning to replace the older one or adding 5 pounds of AR-22 freon for $1100. He wanted to charge $7,500 for the new unit which seemed reasonable, but he couldn't do it until next week and, after a quick Google search, I told him $1100 was high for adding freon. Then he once again appeared upset and asked me what I was talking about. When I explained that I quickly looked it up and knew that It usually costs maybe $500-$750 he conceded that I could find it cheaper elsewhere. Then he told us it was $125 dollars for the visit. I told him that he can't charge me for the visit because nobody notified us that there would be any charge. He said that he doesn't work for free. But I told him that without prior notification of a service charge, I didn't believe it was legal for him to charge me considering he didn't do any diagnostic testing or any repair work. He just looked around and told me something any technician could have discovered in a few minutes. He then while standing in our kitchen played the whole recording of the conversation my wife had with the dispatcher to learn that we were right and we were never notified that there would be any charge. Two days later we had Meyer Heating and Air do a same day installation for the same $7500 and they added freon to the other unit for free when the $333 leak detection didn't reveal any leaks. Plus the reps at Meyer were very pleasant to work with so I gave Meyer a 5 star review and Design a 1 star review.

I had to have 2 different techs come out because the 1st guy was just for a quote to replace the unit, but he advised my problem could be resolved with a simple repair. Each person I engaged with was extremely nice and helpful--Terry and my other guy's name I can't remember. They went above and beyond what I could have expected. My total cost was between $200 and $250 for service call fee + 30 mins of work. All they did was adjust my wires and ran codes on the unit to make sure I did not need freon. Oh, he also gave me a new filter and patched up a whole I had. It seemed a tad bit pricey for the average consumer, but I did not mind paying because I believe in quality over quantity. Also, I liked they did not charge me an extra fee to pay with card.

The initial repair left a cut electrical wire next to a gas furnace... a very Critical mistake, that took a ton of begging to get anyone to try to fix..which included living, dismissive claims that it wasn't bad, wasn't repairable, would require a few days to repair,...leaving my neighbors and I with a potential explosion that could be bad...Finally the father came with a wire in a few hours (that supposedly would take days to special order) and while he did replace the dangerous one that they cut, he admitted that the $1000 repair i paid for, seemed to have done nothing. I said, yes, it sounds and acts exactly the same. His behavior was odd, refusing to understand that I was justifiable upset by all the danger I was left in, the excuses and lied to not have to make it safe, then the admission that I gave them a large amount of money that did nothing...and he kept saying he'd fix it. Sounds responsible... but after so much h dangerous unprofessional behavior, the last thing I was up for was trusting any of them to do anything more than prevent the explosion they were perfectly fine leaving me with... So I said, no thankyou... At which time, and I learned to record anytime I had a service person at my house when I was alone, so its taped..he refused to listen and set about taking things apart as I asdetuoveky asked him to please stop. He kept demanding he was going to fix it.....it was late, it'd been a very scary, long day, begging them with many phone calls to just undo the danger with a wire replacement. It was very uncomfortable as I had to ask him to leave and usher him upstairs and out of my home. I will never hire them again based on this horrible incident (s)... And I am still waiting to be reimbursed for the $1000 that I paid them. The furnace died after I paid them to fix what they said it needed, and the sound of loud friction was even obvious to Mr Goldkamp, who wanted to fix it... I had to find a repairman who showed up quickly and showed me that they hadn't really done anything needed, and went about fixing the fan blade that was rubbing against something internally. It took him a short time. I didnt need a new anything... just a piece of metal bent a bit...There was no live wire left by him after he left, next to a combustible motor full of gas, he didnt lie to me, tell me it probably wont explode!, no danger, he didnt take a lot of money, and he restored my heat easily on a below freezing day with no appointment, He did it with integrity and encouraged me to be careful with companies that would ever behave that way... Goldkamp had also given me four separate completely conflicting diagnoses of what was wrong, and the health of my heat and a/c. If I'd believed them, I'd have replaced a fairly new and perfectly good a/c unit ... The younger Goldkamp gave me two different assessments that contradicted each other, no explanation why,... his father, a new one, and the man they sent out to do the repair told me his opinion of all that my furnace and a/c were doing..all of their reports were 180°different from each other. So, after they refund my debit card, for the $1000 they took to terrorize me, cause an explosion hazard, and leave me worse off, I plan on sticking with the young man who earned my trust and fixed their damage. I wish the below review was still how I viewed this company. ( original review below) In a world where increasingly more people have an angle, and let you down, or mistreat you, Goldkamp has always been a breath of fresh air. Ryan made it thru ice and snow immediately, as they had a couple years ago (in another emergency),..he was kind, patient with all my concerns, and hardworking. Cori was great on the scheduling, and communication, and John just left after making the final repairs, also very respectful, efficient, and friendly. I hope what you do catches on to all other professionals. The world could definitely use more people like you. My dear friends, Emilie and Steve Hayes, recommended Goldkamp, and I'm grateful. It was cold here, now we are all warm, safe, and cozy.
