Good communication and management. The only bad thing is the floor creeks because it's an old building.

Honestly, Link on 4th Street was just as lovely but I prefer the ballpark area/vibe and parking situation. Thought I was stuck with a unit right beside all the bars... would have been great in college! But... Then the real ***All Stars of Link Apartments (Meneli, Sam, and Dani)*** took the wheel - Meneli was AWESOME. She laughed with me and calmed my nerves. She assured me we'd figure this out together, and called Sam to check availability and set up a same-day tour. Headed over, knew it was more "my vibe" from the first step inside. Sam met me right away; walked me through leasing options and floor plans she prepared while I was in transit, toured the amenities (salt water pool, hellllllo), and one of the few units unoccupied to get a feel. She even followed up that same night with photos of the unit's features that differed from the one we saw. I applied right away, Sam expedited it, and within a few days I was at move-in orientation with Ms. Dani! She had everything organized for me and went above and beyond to make sure I knew where things were and how maintenance requests and parking worked; only took like 15 minutes! She is a rockstar, I was very impressed with her efficiency, knowledge, communication, and customer service skills throughout. Unfortunately, unrelated to the staff/community, the unit itself was not compatible with some of my personal needs. I talked to Dani about the concerns - immediately, she assured me that I was not in this alone and we'd figure it out together. By the next day, she had three alternative options lined up and approved. The amazing folks who work here really make the Link properties stand out - you really can feel a difference. You feel at home.

The rental process was fast, Ms. Tara was always helpful and answered my questions quickly, and I was able to easily make my rental payment online. The building was kept clean, and I couldn't hear much noise from my neighbors, except for the occasional sounds from a practicing musician, which I didn't mind. The location truly cannot be beat, especially if you like to grab takeout from the local restaurants or pick up basic groceries at Washington Perk across the street. Having Camino Bakery just downstairs was such a bonus, especially on lazy days when I didn't want to make my own coffee and I wanted a sweet treat. The parking lot is a short walk away, but it's not too bad for city parking. The rooftop pool is a vibe! The gym is a nice perk, but I didn't use it much. FYI, my security deposit was returned pretty quickly, which was appreciated. I miss my time here, and I'd rent here again in a heartbeat.

They coordinated with me for nearly two months ahead of my move, stayed responsive throughout the process, and went out of their way to make sure I felt welcome before I even arrived. The apartment is beautiful, everything that needed attention was repaired before move-in, and the building has been wonderful so far. I also want to specifically recognize Carlos Pledger and his business, Consistent Cleaning Today. Although the business name includes cleaning, Carlos provided an incredible white-glove moving, delivery coordination, and home setup experience for my out-of-state move. He received my packages before I arrived, transported everything to my apartment, assembled large furniture items, coordinated directly with property management, and made sure every detail was handled with care. This is the second time I have worked with Carlos, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is a Winston-Salem local, incredibly professional, reliable, detail-oriented, and genuinely committed to making the entire experience as smooth as possible. For anyone moving from out of state, or anyone who would benefit from moving support, delivery coordination, assembly, and home setup services, Carlos and his team are outstanding. Between Tara, Rodney, and Carlos, my move into Nissen Building Apartments was smoother than I could have imagined. I'm very grateful and have had a wonderful experience so far.

The literal worst part is the train but we got used to it with time and now facing Main Street I barely hear it! The amenities are the best and cable/internet and water are included in the rent. I lived by myself the first 2 years and before moving in searched around and with the included amenities I couldn't find a better deal ... much less feel safe living here. You do have to pay extra for parking but they offer various options. Pets are welcomed as well. The staff and leasing department are so nice as well and worked with me to upgrade to a bigger place. They also have various events- my all time favorite was when they had a wine tasting. They also had a murder mystery and a casino night before. Each summer there is an annual pool party with food and beverages! This is turning into a long post but I don't even need to mention the walking distances to restaurants and breweries! I'm likely not moving out until I buy a house!

Only downside to the location is that it is directly next to the train so that can get loud. Other than that my neighbors are really quiet, friendly and have super cute dogs. The maintenance staff is great and timely. The complex has a plethora of work out spaces as well as 2 pools, grills, 2 dog parks and 2 rooftops. I really love where I live and love the events they put on for us such as the pool party, Monday night football event, halloween party, etc. If I'm moving anytime soon, it will only be into a large apartment in this building.

I wanted a white cabinet in the kitchen and sunroom on the first floor but instead that unit is already sold. I have no choice but to choose the second floor with sunroom but the cabinets are different colors. They were great. My problem is that Burke uses several second party websites for everything. Three so far. Those websites SUCK. I mean they SUCK. I've spent 20 hours trying to fix what should have taken 20 minutes. SO--If you attempt to rent here follow this advice. Go buy a new computer. Do not attempt this using an IPhone or IPad or even a three year old lap top. It ain't gonna happen. EXPECT the second party websites to freeze. Then you have to start all over and end up with TWO accounts and neither will work. The Pet Portal will make you throw your (new) IPad against a wall. The "pay" portal --Bilt-- is worse. you can load your credit card and it may be rejected because "you are over your limit". Even though you have $30,000 available. This is because Mastercard thinks that Bilt is a scam and won't pay until you get an email from Mastercard asking for approval. By then your first attempt has expired and you get to fill out all the questions again----and now have another TWO applications to deal with. BUT-- Burke seems nice. The Staff that I've met were nice. But I'm guessing that corp. mismanagement has screwed up bad by choosing the second party websites. (for the record--I'm a recently retired medical equipment/IT Engineer).
