New patient visit today with my 7 yr. old dog. Upon walking in I was sent straight to a private room (w/ a tv & a little dog bed mat). I had to wait about 15 mins and the tech came in to take him for weight etc. The dr came next and spent about 30+ w/ us. She was ver nice and explained things I had not understood from my previous vet. She spent about 10 minutes just showing my her style of ear cleaning. My dog was so relaxed that he way laying on the bed by the end of the visit! I was really taken aback by the courtesy and friendliness of the receptionist, support staff and doctor! They are a little more expensive than the average office but in this case, you get what you pay for. read more

BEWARE. READ all the SHOCKINGLY BAD reviews! We had taken our 2 Goldens here from puppies... 12 years. Learn from our EXPENSIVE and HORRIFYING mistake. They constantly push unnecessary expensive procedures, surgeries (BIG $$$$) and products. We spent a fortune for "care" that we trusted, but it was ALWAYS about the MONEY for Dr. Scott Murphy. After Covid they limited their office hours, devoting more days JUST for their (pushed) surgical procedures (more money in those). Constantly insisting on expensive "tests" (more fear-porn) to "find" issues they could treat and charge for. In Nov '22 I knew something was up with my 9 year old Golden. They "fit us in" pre-Thanksgiving, rushed through an exam - said it was "probably digestive". Tried to push 3 vaccines on her that weren't even DUE for 4 months - "since you're already here". I refused those. Dr.Murphy THEN decided to prescribe an expensive medication... one that we later learned should ONLY be administered after diagnostic bloodwork! I foolishly trusted him - only later did I do my own homework and see all the warnings on that drug! BUT he DIDN'T bother with doing bloodwork - they were clearly more interested in getting on with their long holiday weekend. After ONE dose my dog lost use of her legs and was DEAD by that Sunday (4 days after that EXPENSIVE, half-assed exam visit). Arbor Hills gives no after hours EMERGENCY contact - so you are on your own if your beloved pet goes South. We futilely rushed her to Vet ER (an ER we had to find on our own because Arbor Hills is decidedly MIA for any after hours help) The attending ER Doctor believed the medication that was irresponsibly prescribed 4 days earlier shut down her organs and caused massive internal bleeding, which ultimately put her through ghastly suffering and killed her within DAYS. The ER vet was shocked that Arbor Hills didn't DO ANY BLOODWORK before prescribing it to our Golden BECAUSE of the danger of haphazardly using that drug! Adding insult to injury - the Sunday night ER visit with a doctor and 3 other techs - all feverishly administering CPR and oxygen for an hour trying DESPERATELY to save our dog - actually cost $100 LESS than what Arbor Hills charged us for their half-assed appointment 4 days earlier - including the prescription that actually poisoned her to death. I will forever live with the pain and guilt of trusting Arbor Hills Veterinary (Scott Murphy). I should have filed malpractice, but ultimately it would never bring my dog back... and no doubt Arbor Hills Vet has plenty of $$$$$ for sweeping malpractice charges under the rug. We've taken our dog here for over 3 years but we are done. They are extremely expensive and they just keep trying to suck more money out of you with follow up visits. My dog went in for an ear infection and $1,000 dollars later he's still not better. They charged for an ear cleaning yet his ear still looks gross. Unless you have an endless amount to spend on your pet, take your pet elsewhere. I understand it's a business but it's also supposed to be a business of caring for animals, not just ripping off their owners. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Murphy and his staff. My cat had been missing for 10 days, I finally found her, banged up, exhausted and overheated. I took her to see Dr. Murphy immediately. If u know ur dog is fine don't do the check up review. This facility taxes for everything. They harassed me over the phone saying my dog needed a check up i finally complied only to be hit with an $80 bill just to tell me my dog was alright (i already knew this). I wasn't expecting to pay for anything since i knew my dog would not need anything so i left my debt card at home. They held my dog hostage till i could paid. I wouldn't go here unless it was an actual emergency, even then I'd still chose somewhere else. Also the medications they give u are completely over priced. My advice is to ask about everything you're paying for and see if there is an over the counter substitute. I give 1 star cause they were nice to my dog but that's all read more

I have used Dr. Murphy for my dog for over 6 years now. I cannot think how they could provide for attentive care than they have done. While I treat my dog very well, they actually treat him better than I do!!!! I feel lucky to have found this vet clinic. read more

Took our dog in to get a Staph infection treated, as well as general vaccinations. First off, what they quoted to me on the phone was not what was shown on the final bill, after adding around $200 more in tests and prescribing extremely outdated/dangerous drugs for my dog. They did these tests without my consent, and then basically said 'too bad, we already did the work' when I saw the charges on the bill. On top of that, we were prescribed an extremely high dose of a steroid that has side effects that worsen infections especially in older dogs, so whoever made that decision needs to know that they almost killed my dog. Also, they charge a good 3 times the amount for general vaccines that other clinics do, and there general visit fee is a ridiculous $75, which is about double the amount of a normal vet. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Me and my cat Kermit had a great experience here. We had to make a last minute trip to take care of a worm situation and even though I didn't call ahead (bad Andi!!) they still were able to squeeze us in right away. The staff was very kind and quite complementary about my handsome cat and got him back on track in no time. They made us feel right at home and I am very happy to have a vet that I feel that I can trust. One star goes out to the lady who was on the phone with me. As far as the doctor, I would give 0 stars if I could. I brought in my dog (Pomeranian) because she started limping. My dog is only 3 years old, completely healthy in perfect shape, never limped before. She is very active and playful so I thought maybe she jumped off the couch and injured herself. So we come HERE after reading some good reviews and meet Dr. Jennifer Lukowski. Let me just say, that Dr. Lukowski is one of those doctors that likes to talk about her own dogs more then she needs to. In 5 minutes we found out what kind of dog she has, how old it is, what health issues it had and the "happily ever after" story after those issues have been resolved. After examining my dog, she came back with a diagnosis that I was prepared for doing my individual research, she had laxating patella. Which is very common for smaller breeds, but still, not the best thing to have. Dr. Lukowski assured me that if I give my dog joint vitamins and this anti-inflammatory medication for a few weeks, most likely Belle (my dog) would be completely fine. She also mentioned, that if the dog was older, closer to 8-9 y/o there could be a chance of getting a surgery, but because she is so young there is no need. So ok, I was relieved with good news, paid $100 for medication and we left. As weeks pass by, I am noticing that Belle is not progressing and is still limping. So I decide to call Dr. Lukowski and see if she will see us again to double check and confirm that everything is alright and no further action is required. Because it's been only a few weeks, I asked the receptionist if it was going to be free of charge just because we JUST saw the doctor, so she said she would double check but most likely Dr. Lukowski will see us free off charge. Well guess what....Dr. Lukowski calls me back and says, of course, I remember you. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do for you, you would just have to bring your dog in for a surgery. AGAIN referencing her own dogs, how they are perfectly fine and healthy now, after the surgery.To say I was shocked, is to say nothing. I asked if we could come in, so she can examine her and see what kind of treatment is required and anything else that could be done, she refused to see us right away saying there was no point and there is nothing else to discuss. She then said ,that she will email me the estimates of the surgery cost (which I never received) and that it's just "one of those cases" where surgery is a MUST. I have never seen a veterinarian that apathetic and just careless. The fact they we were not seen again, to get another opinion was just a shock. There is another doctor, who owns the clinic and the one who actually performs surgeries...so my question was, how can you be so incompetent, where you don't even offer a second opinion by the other doctor. You right away decide that there are no alternatives and that my dog needs a surgery...???? Needless to say, I will not be going back to that clinic, who is just so eager to perform surgeries to fill their pockets. I will not be recommending that clinic either, due to the lack of professionalism and rationality in my opinion. read more
