The building is airy and usually not too crowded and has some decent spots for studying with interesting views of the library hall and reception. It's also fairly clean. But it's probably too crowded and noisy if you need to concentrate on something (which is usually why I would visit a library, I guess). The noise might have something to do with the "shared" location with Democratic Coffee Bar (which has awesome coffee btw). Might also have something to do with the fact that Borgerservice is also located here. Apparently, Hovedbiblioteket is the place to be! These days they seem to be working on the interiors a little, so be prepared for drilling sounds! Nothing decent ear plugs can't take care of for you, though.. A quick look at the literature collection, tells me that almost nothing is in it's right place. Communication books are under religion and so on. But the fiction, music and children's sections seem to be in order. Hovedbiblioteket also seems like a nice spot for taking the toddlers and smaller kids, seeing as a fair part of the third floor seems to be specialized for children. Oh, and the escalators and toilets are often out of order. The first thing, not so much of a problem. The second thing can be a problem.

For the purposes of tourists, only the royal section related to the monarchy is open for exploration. The ticket that you purchase depends on how many parts of the royal section you wish to visit: 1) Reception room - where the Queens holds meetings 2) Royal Stables - where the horses and carriages are held 3) Royal Kitchen - where the meals are prepared 4) Ruins - the ruins underneath the castle If you have more time, you can see all of them. For me, the best part was easily the Reception area, where you will see many rooms constructed with very colorful and exquisite architecture and filled with luxurious paintings, furniture, and tapestries. This area is so fancy they actually make all visitors wear blue shoe covers to protect the floors. It is also worth it to go up the tower (free entry) where you get amazing views of the city.

Christiansborg Palace is actually pretty wild -- it's the only place in the world where the government, the prime minister, and the Supreme Court all work in the same building. And under it, there are literal castle ruins from like the 1100s that you can walk through. Plus, the Danish royal family still uses parts of it for fancy events, so it's kind of like government offices + ancient history + royalty all stacked in one spot. Funny story. There's this extremely long dining table (see pics). You're not supposed to sit there but the tour guide said a family sat there to eat lunch one time.

Given the setting it made sense. I took an elevator up to the 6th floor to experience the amazing viewing area. Very modern and clean lines throughout the interior of the library. Views encompassed not only all the floors but out towards the river via the floor to ceiling glass windows. It was worth it to walk down the stairs to each level and see the different perspectives. I'd be very happy visiting a library of this caliber every week back home.

Place is great for a nice stroll up through the many floors of the library and the open area looking down is just breathtaking. There is also an older part of the library connected so you contrast the difference between the old library and the new one. There's also a nice gift shop here too but I noticed most of the books on sale here were in Danish. Definitely worth a visit when you're here in Copenhagen. The jog right next to the library is also really nice as its right by the water and very scenic.

Studying in København can be easy because there are so many locations, but this library is perfect if you need´to utilize multiple resources. You can search for your class's textbook and get it transferred to this library, to checking out a laptop for four hours. On the first floor of the library, you have 3 main rooms after passing the front desk, locker rooms, and restroom. In te middle main room, you have the option of sititng in square tables or sitting on nicely cushioned sofas directly up the stairs. You can also study on the main floor in the main room and using the smaller sofa chairs to lounge while you read or use the round table to set your belongings down. Following to the roóm to the right, you have the option of accessing one of the desktop computers if theyre available for usage. It can get packed very quickly so people may be using these before, so strategize your timings or just check out one of their laptops. You also have several tables to sit down and be away from the desktops section. In the room the left, it is a magazine room where they ahve a large selection of different magazines you can read from many major brand magazines. In addition, they have an especially quiet room that you can enter through this glass door. I have not entered there yet but people seem to only read in their. On the basement, you can access their large library of dvds and music cds and ´have the option of also checking them out. You can also study on the study floor where there are several connections ports to charge your phones, laptops, and other devices. In addition, during a certain time of the day a staff member may approach you to assit you on your homework if you need the help. The staff is very helpful and nice here, so use them because they are happy to help. (: If I had to complain about anything of here, then that it owuld be hard to find a connection. Visit the place to study. Its especially convenient if you go to CBS, because its right next to the main campus.

I made it a point to pass by daily because the beauty of the waterfront was a great way to start my day. It was a joy to see the shopkeepers get their restaurants ready for business, customers lining up for the canal tours and getting a peek at the Kissing Bridge. My visit in December was special due to the Christmas spirit at Nyhavn, where the iconic harbour is lined with festive stalls selling Christmas decorations, traditional Danish Christmas treats and steaming cups of gløgg (mulled wine). There are numerous restaurants offering fine dining to casual eating, especially the famous open faced sandwich, Smorrebrod.
