I've lost count of how many Colonoscopy's and Endoscopy's I've had over the years. Tried and failed with too many drugs to count. You see I have Crohn's Disease. I'll spare you all the details of Crohn's, (you can look it up if interested) other than to say It is one of the diseases of IBD, Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Not to be confused with IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome. (although at times they have similar symptoms) Enter Dr Eric Weston. On the recommendation of a coworker and friend I went to see Dr Weston. Thankfully under his care I've been relatively in remission for going on two years. One is never cured of this chronic disease, remissions are the best we can hope for. Through his meticulous and thoughtful practice, he has brought me back from hopelessness of ever getting help with this condition. Dr Weston is very thorough with his exams, and takes the time to talk and explain each course of action that he recommends. I've never felt rushed by him or his staff even though I'm usually one of his last patients of the day. As anyone knows who has to deal with doctors offices, the staff are the back bone of any medical practice. His medical assistants Savannah and Nicole are top shelf, and always get back with me the same day any time I've called them. So why write a review for a doctor? Yelp was started by folks looking for a dentist. So if you're looking for an excellent gastroenterologist, I highly recommend Dr Eric Weston.

When I called the office the first impression was a wonderful one, with the scheduler being very nice on the phone. This first impression flowed to everyone in the office. I can say that everyone in this practice has the very best demeanor, they are compassionate and professional. They are very accommodating as well, since I totally screwed up when my actual appointment, and they were gracious enough to get me seen on the wrong day I showed up. The wait was so quick I didn't even have time enough to fill out the paperwork. Dr. Edgerton came in, listen to my concerns with my history and was thorough with his exam. The staff explained everything I needed to know. This practice is above the ordinary when seeking a professional, compassionate and wonderful Gastroenterologist. Thank you Dr. Edgerton for all you and your staff do for our community. You set a high standard in healthcare. Amy G.

Dr. Hanan is an intelligent doctor who is excellent at his job. Hes been practicing for over 30 years too. He's what I would classify as "old school." What I mean by "old school" is that he will tell you what he thinks and is very straightforward, which some may find off putting. I don't find find it off putting at all. I like that he doesn't mince words because he's diagnosing medically, which to me, is important. Lastly, I like that he's affiliated with Memorial Hospital. I prefer Memorial Hospital because the staff is friendly and wait times are non-existent (see my review on Memorial Hospital for more detail). If you're debating a GI doctor, have a consult with Dr. Hanan; I did, and I thought he did a great job.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Dr Heiman is arrogant, disrespectful and incompetent. I had gone…read moreto him a few times regarding finding a diagnosis for what I had been experiencing for MONTHS. At first he seemed helpful but once the tests started coming back negative (and it wasn't an easy diagnosis for him), he became unbearable to work with. During my last visit, I'm sitting in my chair, extremely underweight from all of the stomach symptoms I'd been experiencing since Jan. - when we (my mother and I) started asking questions about the plan of action/ sharing my past medical history, etc, Heiman became extremely irritable (not sure why as this is his JOB) and hovered over my mother and I, being extremely rude and dismissive. He was basically scolding us the whole time for being worried. At the end, he literally tried to have me go and do two tests I had done TWO DAYS PRIOR- he HAD the results. He was either blind when he reviewed my charts or didn't look at all. Considering his attitude in this, I'd expect the latter. When we realized what he had done (again we were extremely uncomfortable with him once he started yelling at us so we weren't thinking clearly), we told the nurse checking us out. When she told Heiman about how he ordered the same tests I had completed two days prior (keep in mind that Heiman was just around the corner in his office so we could hear everything), Heiman rudely kept saying out loud "did she actually do it? Call the labs to confirm" etc. He made me feel so dumb and belittled- it's not like I had done these tests weeks prior and maybe wasn't remembering right - literally completed them two days prior to seeing him. I left in tears because of his behavior and lack of bedside manner. The only good thing about that office are the nurses/lovely ladies who work at the front desk. We were extremely lucky that one nurse noticed his treatment (apologized for it since he sure wasn't going to) toward us and made it her mission to keep pushing him to look at my charts, order the right tears, etc. Finally we were approved for a CT scan (after asking several times to proceed with the next step instead of waiting to get unbearably sick again. Did he not realize I was having this happen for half of a year? I couldn't keep waiting for the next episode to occur. I was skin and bones and falling apart.) I'm happy to say that after going to different doctors/specialists (that actually know how to do their jobs), we found the problem and I had surgery yesterday. Guess it wasn't all in my head after all, Heiman? Best of luck with your superb bedside manner. A disclaimer to anyone reading this and wondering if they should see Heiman- I almost never leave reviews. I wrote this all out because I'd hate for someone else to go through what I did. If Heiman was competent, I could have had answers months ago and not gotten to the point where I felt like I had no quality in life because of the constant "sickness" I was going through. I see he has some higher rated stars. Sure I'm sure some of those are legitimate but I can guess that these were easy cases for Heiman. I liked him at first too, until he became very clearly annoyed with my case and essentially refused to push forward in strategic way. His "help" was to just keep waiting. I hope this may help someone with making the right decisions when going to see a specialist- someone who is supposed to be there to HELP you. I'm lucky that I found amazing Drs recently- ones that listened to my concerns and ordered different test right away. Less than a week later, I had my surgery Best of luck to anyone having ongoing medical problems- I know it's rough which is why finding the RIGHT Drs is so important
