It's a scam. I placed an order. A week later, received an email stating it was shipped. A week after that, I emailed them because no tracking number was received and I wanted to see where the package was. "Oh, it hasn't shipped yet. Give it another week." Ummmm....OK. I give it another week, and reach out again saying I still haven't gotten a tracking. 'Give it 48 to 72 hours.' OK..... 3 days later, I write again. 'Although our system shows it as shipped, it's not generating tracking numbers. Would you like us to ship the order again?' Kind of a weird resolution offered. You insist the first order shipped. So you're confident it's on it's way. But you're now offering to ship it again, so I'd get twice the merchandise for the same price? Companies just offer a refund or credit in these situations.... So I contacted my credit card company and they've reversed the charge. It's now over a month since I placed the order initially and nothing has arrived. It seems strange - like a scam. Equally, if you leave a bad comment about the company on their Facebook, you'll get inundated with other "customers," insisting it's a great company, great products, blah blah blah. Almost like they're paid to defend Aran. I've left plenty of bad reviews on other company's pages and never heard from anyone. Also a bit weird, all the reviews on their website are through TrustPilot, a known scam review website. And their Facebook page had no activity for almost 10 years, before coming back to life within the last few months. read more

Situated in the city center of Killarney, Aran Sweater Market, which is essentially a store specializing in all things wool, is a welcoming shop to visit with purpose or curiosity. We popped in after lunch and wandered up to the second floor, which houses all the men's wear. The selection of sweaters, beanies, hats, scarves, socks, jackets and more was impressive. So many colors and styles. The store is well maintained, bright, well organized, stocked and clean. We scooped up a beanie, as I find it hard to find one that fits just right, so I was pumped! As others have mentioned, this company is a scam. I ordered sweaters as gifts with a guaranteed delivery date before Christmas. Shortly after placing the order, I received an email stating the items had shipped, but no tracking number was provided. I waited a few days and eventually contacted customer service. When I finally got a response, I was told that tracking numbers sometimes don't appear in emails and to "try a different browser." This explanation made no sense, as tracking numbers should be readily available, but whatever. I attempted all suggested options, but nothing worked. I sent eight follow up emails requesting an update and a tracking number and received no response. Place acts like completely fraudulent site. I recently ordered a sweater. My transaction went through and appeares as "posted" on my credit card, but I did not receive order confirmation. For two days I tried to reach customer service through email-no response. Day 3- finally got a person in chat, who informed me, that they have no record of my order. Yet- my charge went through, according to my credit card. They refused to investigate, where money went- "it's a ghost transaction". I've been to this store a couple of times, so unlike most of the reviewers I have an actual experience with the brick and mortar location. The store is fairly large and has a lot of selection. The prices are very high but the items are nice quality and seem like they will hold up over time. I was hoping to get a sweater for my friend but because she's so particular about softness I didn't want to risk it on something that is so expensive. The store was clean and organized. The person working was busy talking to her friend and didn't really seem to pay attention to the customers who were there. While I love the sweaters and the good quality, this 1 star is for customer service and bill adjustment. Their website can produce a "ghost transaction" at checkout where it doesn't go through. I have reordered after contacting them, the voucher they gave me could not be applied even though I have not used it, it showed it was used. They didn't want to adjust the bill. Make story short I ended up being billed twice. They are not helpful and they don't refund. I would suggest using the bank dispute way. Terrible experience. Had previously purchased a sweater from the shop and liked it so I purchased two sweaters online. They arrived stinking of petrochemicals, obviously contaminated, like they had been soaking in petrol, overwhelming stench, two hand-washes did not deal with it they still stank of petrol and could not be inside the house let alone be worn. Clearly damaged, unwearable product. I emailed. I email again. I email again. I email for a fourth time. Eventually, after almost a week, they emailed back and explained that I was wrong and that I just don't like the smell of fresh wool. I know the smell of wool, including specifically from Aran sweaters. I also know what gasoline/petrol smells like. These sweaters stank of gasoline/petrol. I ordered an Aran sweater. It has a nice fit and design, but know that it will have an overwhelming barn smell that does not was out, we tried every option out there to calm it down. So basically, if you are in the U.S. you'll probably pay for the item and $35 shipping. When you get it, and it's un-wearable in public unless you want a barnyard smell following you, you will also spend another $25 to return it. I'm $60 in on shipping on a $66 product. yay. I sought to exchange it by going to their website and following instructions as presented. After a week, I tried again. And again. NOT EVEN THE COURTESY OF A REPLY. Then I began phoning. Mostly I got no answer, then progressed to their recorded message. Once I spoke with a young woman who told me that the holidays had been very busy for them, and to call back to speak with someone else. I tried. "Someone else" was never there. I purchased a coat from Aran's that arrived in a timely manner but with a sewing defect. I contacted the company to return the item and they forwarded the shipping labels. However, FedEx made me aware that I would also need a Customs form initiated by the company. I have contacted Aran's multiple times about the form to no avail. I have sent numerous emails, reached out through their online chat, and tried calling them, but no response from Aran's. It is now January 29, 2024 and I am still awaiting a response to my inquiries. I am extremely disheartened and disappointed by the lack of sufficient customer service. I will persist in my effort to return the item and receive a refund for the purchase, but I will not purchase from this company again!! The scarf I ordered on December 21 (three weeks + one day ago) MIGHT have arrived today to my friend in Canada. I emailed AND chatted several times. I COMPLAINED several times, with no answer. I asked to speak with a manager but was turned down. What I was told by the last rep on chat, was to send an email with my issue (that the scarf was NEVER shipped) and then go back on chat and she would talk to a manager. I did that immediately and when I went back on chat within minutes, chat was closed. My daughter selected a mohair blanket from the shelf. It has no price tag (last one in that color). Another blanket (last in another color) with a price tag was marked down to €69. The clerk said he thought they were the same price. A more senior clerk came over and said no, ours was a larger size. That's fair enough. She looks it up in the computer and says ours is marked down to €99 but she needs to verify with the manager. Manager shows up and says ours isn't marked down at all: full price €124. I would have left at this point as there's no lack of competition for woolen goods in town. My husband didn't want to disappoint our daughter. At least we got the free shipping offer. read more

Visited April 2015: "Excellent selection, great customer service, and reasonable deals" The sign out front might say "Aran Sweater Market Outlet store" We purchased a few items, and due to the amount purchased (100 Euro or more) we were able to get free shipping back to the United States. The gentleman at the counter (Jason) explained duty free from Ireland to the States, provided a receipt for our refund, and how much we each might get back. He and the foreman apologized for the construction that was going on. We were also provided with 10 Euros off for spending more then 50 Euros which you can use at any store and online. These sweaters are handmade, steeps with history, and you can visit the island where all the magic begins. read more

If you are looking to buy a cap, you must go to the shop and try it on. The website for Weavers of Ireland has a sizing chart that is inaccurate. That, or they make the caps much smaller than advertised. Buying online will mean additional costs for both return shipping, and for the correctly sized item to be sent out to you. read more
