Slept through a Friday night just fine - Irish breakfast buffet is so good - front desk was friendly Cons: - sink didn't drain well - lift was broken while we were there - towel rack is in the shower - parking is paid, although discounted to about 16 euros a day, and a 5-10 minute walk which, with luggage, feels like forever

This hotel doesn't have the best Yelp reviews, but sometimes it comes down to digging into the…read morecomments. You book this hotel for cost and convenience - We took a redeye to Dublin and landed at 8:30 am on a Saturday. We took the 9:20 am train to Galway. When we got to Galway, this hotel was a two minute walk from the train station and it was ready for check in at noon. Thats exactly what you want after not sleeping for 36 hours! We also were doing an all day Viator bus tour to the Cliffs of Moor and several other sites, and that was a five minute walk from the hotel. As others have noted, it's a super quick walk to Budget rental (where you can rent a car day of), as well as many restaurants and shops. Your room includes breakfast which was a pretty typical hotel breakfast. Was it noisy at night? Yes, our first night was a Saturday night in the city and you're above a pub! But we shut the window and popped in ear plugs and turned on the fan and we were fine. I slept through the entire night and I'm not a great sleeper. There is no AC because it's Europe and most cheap to mid-priced hotels don't offer AC.

Ordered a taxi from Galway Taxi for 7am to get us to the coach station for a 7.30am bus to Dublin…read moreAirport. Have done this many times before and it always worked perfectly. They have our details in their system and could see our location. The journey to the coach station takes 15mins at that time of the day. At 7am got a text to say that the taxi was dispatched. Called them at 7.03 to enquire. Was told that the taxi was at the Rahoon cemetery. This is 10 mins from our house so I was getting anxious but thought we would still make it. At 7.10 got a call from the driver asking for our location. I said that you have the Eircode but he said his GPS was not working and he did not know and could not explain where he was. We went out onto the road with torches to see if we could guide him if he came within our vicinity. At 7.15 there was still no sign of him and we realised that we would not make the bus and had no alternative but to fling ourselves and our luggage into the car and drive to Dublin to catch our flight. We left our house at 7.20. It was very stressful as the bus we had booked was direct to the airport and we now had to drive and park and hope to make our flight. En route to the airport I rang Galway Taxis to complain. He completely refuted that they were in any way to blame. He said I should have known better after the weather we have had! !! This was two days after the cold snap before Christmas but the temperature that morning was 10 degrees Celsius and drizzling!! We had to pay for three unused bus tickets plus three weeks parking at Dublin Airport. The cost was €394.
