Yet, what was really frustrating was that during the instructions in the beginning, since none of us had been to THIS specific pottery location, there was no mention of a studio fee if we stayed over our reservation time. I have been to multiple pottery painting places (mostly in IN) and this is the first that I was charged for every extra 30 minutes of studio time. (I think it was 30 min) My daughter and I were the last of the party to finish. So, all the other girls had left. The studio was not full at all either. We ended up staying I think an hour or hour and a half past the time everyone else left. Never once was this studio fee mentioned. If I had known I would have left her piece as it was or had her get something smaller in the beginning. Knowing ahead of time would have made me less irritated. I definitely will not be going back specifically because of this studio fee not being mentioned and them having one. Pottery painting is a treat for me personally as it and knowing I'm on a time crunch really ruins the enjoyment of it. The staff were nice enough, and they had a good selection of pieces to choose from as well.

My son enjoys it very much. Staff is friendly. Interior well kept. Reasonably priced. I especially like the pay as you go policy. No $$ wasted if you miss a class. They are flexible about needing to come on a different day if your regular time slot does not work that week. Wrap that all up with individualized instruction and this place is AWESOME!!

The art house worked with Maybury State Park to have a group of local artists go for 3 days and produce paintings that shows the beauty and places in the park. Most did 3 or 4 paintings in different type of mediums depending on the artists strengths. The group went to the Live @ 5 Reception that opened the exhibit. Tickets were $35 for non members. Appetizers, 2 drink tickets, and live music from a harpist and a flute player from the Michigan Philharmonic. You also got to look at the art, shop the gift shop, meet some of artists and see the awards given out for the top pieces. A pleasant way to spend part of an evening talking to other art lovers and enjoying a cool summer evening while helping out a local organization that supports the arts. Viewing the exhibit is free of charge but donations are welcomed. The current exhibit is "Art That Pushes Boundaries" featuring the work of local artists. In addition to the exhibit, I noticed that a painting canvas kit was available for donation. The art house offers in-person classes including visual art training. Wouldn't it be nice if every town had an art house with exhibits and art education programs like this one? This is a wonderful community resource and I will be stopping by whenever there is a new exhibition.

There's little pressure on the kids, and they really seem to emphasize the FUN of exploring theater, acting, movement, etc., as a child. In addition, my daughter has major medical needs, and they closely worked with us to find ways that she could still participate despite some restrictions. They even have 'art buddies' for special circumstances- a truly unique offering in any kind of children's programs! We will be back for sure.

The bride picked the painting for the group which was a sunset with a palm tree. Larisa was very sweet and came early to my in-laws home to set everything up an hour or so before the party started. Larisa had an easy breezy attitude which I think helps with the pressure of others wanting to do a good job with their painting. She did a great job explaining how to paint our painting and was non-judgmental of everyone's work. She was also funny and personable - you can tell she is passionate about her business! The price was $35/person and the painting lasted 2 hours total. We all gave her cash. All the supplies were provided and all the ladies had a great time.
