I cannot so enough about the owner Dennis. I am retired (74+) and my ten year old 55 gallon aquarium combo developed a slow leak, soaking the stand and flooring underneath (fortunately Port Costa brick -- no mold: unfortunately hard as --well, brick ). Made an appointment with Dennis and he was here at exactly the time promised on his way back from several jobs on the coast. I was so worried that the stand would collapse and smash my whole aquatic community to smithereenes.
Dennis quickly diagnosed the problem, calmed me down, and gently removed my ten-year old fish including a large pleco which has sharp spines. I had a new 60 gallon tall aquarium/stand combo that I was lucky enough to get at PetSmart (floor model) 50% off which gave me 5 more gallons yet accommodated all my old equipment. Dennis said it was a good tank (that was very re-assuring) and that by buying the aquarium as a combo was a good decision as it was advantageous for the guarantee. Dennis was so kind and caring as he realized that this was very stressful for me on top of recently losing a loved one. He walked me through every step as to what and why he was doing things certain ways: even learned that fish sleep and I should be turning off the lighting at night! Cannot say enough about his knowledge, character, kindness and empathy. Dennis knows everything about fish and their environs: water ph, aeration and the importance of microbes and friendly bacteria's for specific fish families. He left me with some important suggestions which I will follow to the "T". It was a rare privilege to work with a person that really cares about his customers and their individual needs.
Bottom line: Dennis's people skills and excellent knowledge makes his service more valuable than 'as good as it gets'. How about a '6'? read more
