Affordable Water Service

Affordable Water Service

The home I purchased 3 years ago had a Water PH Neutralizer system. I was very unfamiliar with…read morethese systems. I called Affordable Water Service to check the health of the system. They refilled the system with the needed material, showed me how to check the levels and how to adjust the timer. Excellent and friendly service. Thank You.

In my opinion, terrible customer service for a few years that only got worse with time. I have been…read moretheir customer for the last 3 years, & they originally installed the water filtration system for my home over 15 years ago & have been servicing it annually since (with the previous owners). After I moved in I had them service the system in fall of 2019. At that time, there was found a missing bag assembly on one of the larger iron filters. Brandon, from Affordable Water, blamed the previous home owner, Carlos Sorenson, & the previous home owner blamed him (the previous home owner claimed he never had need to replace that particular bag filter himself because he always paid Affordable Water did it annually, and it only needed to be changed annually). That visit cost me almost $800 to replace the filter assembly (labor & parts). I can't imagine how the previous homeowner could have been the one to loose the filter assembly when he paid Affordable Water to do it annually so he wouldn't have too. Brandon suggested during that visit, that soon the old filtration system would need changing, upgrading (in his estimate it would be about a $15,000, expense). The next year (fall of 2020), they came about a month after being called, which is fine, but at that time I mentioned some problems I was having with water pressure & I asked Brandon about his previous suggestion to replace the whole system. Brandon said it needed to be done, and he would get back to me as soon as possible to go over the options, and his schedule. He never called back. I called & left a message a couple of weeks later, they said he'd get back to me but never did. Life got busy for me, so I figured it wasn't an emergency, just low water pressure, & I'd wait until the Covid-19 situation improved. This year, on the morning of 10/4/21, I called Affordable Water to have my filters changed & have them figure out how to proceed with removing the old system/ replacing it with a new one. I spoke with Gina in the office, & she said Brandon would call me back when he got in the office, she didn't say when, but I assumed that evening. After not hearing from them for a couple of days, I called again on 10/6/21. Gina apologized saying she never meant he'd call right away but when he had time later that week. She said they were short staffed but that later that week, on his "office day", he'd get back to me, to set up an appointment to come out and discuss options for replacing my system (likely another 3 weeks wait to get that appointment, as they are busy right now). Fast forward almost 3 weeks later, to today, I never received a call from Brandon or Gina - not a text, not an email, not a letter, not a smoke signal - nothing. I called & spoke to Gina again today. She said that Brandon would call me later in the week when he was back in the office, but that it would still be likely another 3 weeks before an appointment could be scheduled to "look at the issue" and then likely more time to schedule the work needing to be done. I asked Gina to please remove my name from the call back list, that I would no longer be a customer of theirs, & that I felt their customer service was lacking. She said, "Oh well, things happen. Bye" and she hung up. From my experience, it's obvious customers don't come first at Affordable Water, even if you've been a loyal customer for years.

Culligan Water - Colorado Springs - Man folding soft laundry after using Culligan's soft water

Culligan Water - Colorado Springs

we just purchased a home in Cañon City that had a Culligan RO water system and softener. We wanted…read moreto make sure we knew how to maintain this equipment to ensure we were getting the best water quality possible. Adrian, a service tech, came out and taught us how and when to change out the filters and add salt. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge and had solutions to some of the issues we had questions about. The service call included everything we had hoped for and we feel more confident operating this complex water system. And we know that if we should need additional support, they are just one phone call away.

Imagine taking your car to a dealership for a warranty issue and they start replacing parts at your…read moreexpense, don't fix the issue, and when you say you won't pay for any more parts, they stop investigating the warranty. That's what happened to me because of the scammy nature of Culligan and this location's GM, Bob Warner. I had multiple issues in a year and a half of having the tankless RO under sink unit. This time, the filtration unit showed a concerning amount of TDS, 200+ ppm when my tap water is about 350. I called to order new filters and membrane in spite of everything being well within the time limit of utility. The front desk associate pointed out that the unit was still under warranty and scheduled me for a service visit. I clarified with her multiple times that the service visit would be free, since it was investigating a warranty, she confirmed. Once the Tech was at my house they changed the filters, it did not fix the problem. At that point we started discussing options and the tech called Bob. All of a sudden the service appointment was going to cost me $140, the filters that didn't fix the problem were costing me $145, and they wanted to see if a new membrane would fix the problem, which I would also have to pay for. Just to rule out a defective machine that was still under warranty. I talked it over with the Tech, they agreed with my concerns over spending money on a unit that was not functioning and called Bob again. The Tech did his best to make my case as the customer, but it was clear Bob micromanages and brow beats the employees from the phone call. After reviewing the invoice with the Tech and learning that I would be charged an ADDITIONAL service fee if I wanted the unit taken back to Culligan to have the unit itself investigated for warrantable malfunction, I requested to speak to Bob directly. I can't call Bob the name he deserves without fear of the review being taken down for explicit language, but I will use the weakest word that comes to mind: Scammer. He claimed that because the tech changed filters they were entitled to charge me a service fee. He showed no interest in due diligence in investigating the warranty, or helping us isolate the issue without continuing to charge me for parts. I told him that people on Reddit call out Culligan for being "Pirates and scammers" all the time, and said that's how he was acting. He eventually relented on the original service fee after lying to me that the front desk employee said they clarified the charge would apply if they changed filters (believe me, I would have remembered that since it calls into question what exactly they would be doing to honor the warranty). Since this is not my first time talking to Bob, not my first time having to become actually angry with him in order for him to do what I consider the right thing, we decided to cease all services with Culligan. Now we have a defective unit, still under warranty for 5 months, and no way to get it fixed or refunded. SCAM ALERT. The comparable systems you can get from Amazon cost less than what they wanted to charge me to investigate their warranty.
