Part of the reason could be that it is a home - the owner lets it out at very reasonable rates and stays just next door, which is handy in case you need her (although we didn't). The Nest has two generous bedrooms with queen beds, a modern bathroom and kitchen, a great living room and veranda and a glorious view of the surrounding bush-covered hills and the sea. It's just a short stroll from Rocky Bay, which is a secluded swimming spot, although only for the hardier among us, as it is (as you might image) quite rocky. The Nest is a short way from the hub of Waiheke, which I treasured about it. It's easy enough to get to the shops, but quiet enough to feel like a true getaway. The 5 star Accommodations were perfect with lots of attention to detail. Main floor is Great for a large gathering of people while other levels provide lots of room for privacy. There is even a piano off the balcony providing an atmosphere of more serenity. Alice and Trevor were great hosts accommodating all of our needs and they truly made us feel at home. They provided us with excellent restaurants and touring recommendations. Best family reunion location! The whole family had fun with wineries and zip lining right down the road. What a gorgeous accommodation on the island with a magic view, darling bedroom suites and an amazing central dining room and lounge. The French connection comes in handy when Gene is planning his dishes, the meals at Te Whau are divine and a degustation celebration among fellow guests is a highlight. The lodge is very architectural, very stylish and there is lots of beautiful NZ art on display. I love the ensuites and showers incorporating corrugated iron, very clever.

We loved sitting on our balcony and taking in the scenery. Marg and Rob are terrific hosts and they serve an outstanding breakfast each morning! They also provided excellent recommendations to help us get the most out of our time on Waiheke. Would love to come back here again.
