I bought a kitten recently, I was told she had been vaccinated, flea treated and wormed. Kitten has only been with me for 6 days, during which time she has had to have flea treatment, after which dead fleas were found, she has an upper respiratory infection (as confirmed by a vet), which has been passed to her by either the mother, father or another kitten kept in the store, that was most likely why she was on her own from other kittens available in the store and also has needed to be treated for worms. All of this despite the paperwork I was shown claiming that the kitten had been treated just 8 days before I purchased her.
The kitten I have now is riddled with cat flu, has snot coming out of her nose, and blood, has lost her meow, keeps retching, has painful ears (as is evident from constant scratching), has diarrhea and also can barely see.
I have had to spend a fortune at the vets on flea treatment, worming treatments, antibiotics and the vaccinations that clearly had not been carried out or my kitten would have been protected against such illnesses.
I will never return to this pet store again and I will ensure that everyone knows I have had this problem (and have the statement from the vets to confirm it before the owner starts replying talking about slander and whatever else she feels is relevant but really isn't) after buying my kitten from this pet store. I will be contacting the relevant agency about this pet store and the fact that they have sold me a kitten that is seriously ill just days after leaving the store.
The store itself was a typical pet store, smelly, as you would expect. There was someone on the shop floor feeding and watering animals while we were there and it wasn't until my kitten had been home one day and started to get very unwell that I realised this is just another store that cares little for the welfare of animals and is happy to lock a flea riddled ill kitten in a cage in the middle of a boiling shop floor. read more
