As a last resort, to be honest, I decided to try acupuncture. I found the listing for Kern Acupuncture and read the one review, and called to make an appointment. I tried to get in that same afternoon, that's how desperate I was, but they could accommodate me the next day. My first impression of the place is that it is very clean, neat, and organized. The front office staff is very friendly and professional. I had to fill out my medical history and first meet with the acupuncturist, known to me as "Dr. " Lee. The "Dr." is very professional and thorough. She interviewed me and followed up on my medical history, and listened to my explanation of my injury, and where I am was feeling pain. She also did iridology and pretty much nailed my ailments based on my eyes. I was very impressed! After our initial consultation, I received an acupuncture treatment. I wasn't sure what to expect other than what my friends had told me, but it is not painful. They were right..."Dr." Lee was very gentle. She inserted needles in key areas, and I immediately started to feel relief. Not only did my foot stop hurting... I felt other areas of my body beginning to let go of the tension. Over a period of a month and a half I saw the acupuncturist twice a week in the beginning and then switched to once a week. The results have been amazing because the pain in my foot has been subsiding and going away. Some days I don't have any pain at all. The last two times I received a treatment I was so relaxed, I actually fell asleep on the table. After the needles are taken out, I am hooked up to an electronic machine that helps my muscles contract and relax. I was not expecting these results when I went in, not only has my foot pain subsided, I feel that I am more flexible and can drop into a full squat, which I could not do when I first went in to see "Dr. " Lee. I really wish acupuncture was routine in our every day HMO care. I am a firm believer, and in fact, I have been targeting my frozen shoulder to continue encouraging it to heal. The best part about this is that my HSA covers the weekly expense for treatment. I feel so lucky this practice exists right here in Bakersfield! If you have been suffering from an ailment, and nothing has helped, I highly recommend that you pay "Dr." Lee a visit and give her an opportunity to work with you. Update: even though this place only had one review, and it was a good review, I chose it because of the license verification. The other places did not have that on their profile.

She accommodated us and told us to come even though she already closed the shop. She welcomed us with open arms. Partner was going in for sciatica relief from the pain that's been lingering for several weeks. Prior to coming to Dr. Kim's office, he couldn't even stand straight or walk properly due to the piercing pain. Dr. Kim told him to lay on the table, she grabbed her tools, and went to work. After minutes of screaming, he let out a sigh of relief. He got off the bed and relief. He could actually stand straight and bend his knees well and walk without limping. I wasn't going to have any work done since it was already late in the evening. She said, lay on the table and let me do cupping. She did needles on me first. She was so swift I didn't even notice it was done. I've never had cupping done before, but the experience with her was worthwhile. We walked outta there feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
