They have too many patients and are too understaffed and disorganized to meet patients needs. My new sleep study was in Feb. The new machine was ordered in March. It took 5 months for me to finally receive my machine and that was only after me being my own case manager and calling around making things happen. They said they were missing my 2023 sleep study report to compare it to my 2026 sleep study report even though my doctors had sent them both in, they somehow lost the report that was sent to them in 2023 and instead of calling my doctor to get another one faxed to them they sat on the problem for months until I kept calling trying to get it resolved. I finally went to my doctor, got the 2023 report, then hand delivered it to my local Visalia Apria branch. Then I finally got my new machine a couple weeks later. The next problem was my mask that I received 6 months prior started leaking and I could not use the machine and it took months to get an authorization and finally receive new supplies. I was told I was non-compliant I asked how can I be compliant without functioning mask cushion that doesn't leak? So ya its been a ride with this agency. I finally have my new mask cushions and supplies and have exceeded their 70% compliance requirement so I am giving them 2 stars for finally getting their act together. But wow they need to hire more staff! read more

Ya know, I've dealt with Apria for the pass 6 years and have had a few no shows, misunderstandings,etc, but many times when I needed them the most they come through eventually. I just spent 5 days in hospital and my O2 script has changed to the point I needed an upgrade on almost everything. They made it happen, wasn't streamlined but everything fell together. It needs a zero stars option! I bought a chair for my senior mom with Alzheimer. I didn't notice the model we purchased didn't have a foot rest. I wanted to return it and buy their model with one. They declined my request for return because I had opened the box or shrink wrap! It didn't have shrink wrap, but of course I opened the box. It was in an unsealed plastic bag. Lifting it out of the bag and setting it in the floor allowed me to discover my mistake. And yet, is the reason for the denial of return: "Based on your description, the packaging of this product has been opened to reveal its content inside." What a load of crap!! read more

I was greeted immediately. I had equipment to exchange. The exchange was made but I had to stop the therapist to ask questions. I was surprised that she didn't check in with me to explain the equipment to me or see if I had questions. I was the only client there. My CPAP machine does not work anymore. A critical problem. It is up for a replacement. I work with the Centennial CO office. I have been jumping thru hoops trying too get Apria the information they need to get a new CPAP ordered. I HAVE SAT IN PHONE QUEUES FOR MANY HOURS TRYING TO GET THRU TO SOME ONE TO NO AVAIL. Why is Apria making it some hard by not staffing their support line? Why doesn't anyone call me back? My provider put in an order for a Bipap replacement in February 2024, it's May and still no new machine. Both my provider and myself tried getting the order filled, obviously they don't want to do business anymore. I even called their headquarters in Illinois and no one answered or called me back. It is very disappointing that they are the company Kaiser chooses to do business with. Every time I call to get oxygen supplies or testing for my 2 month old the representative tells me the previous representative I spoke to did not do what they were suppose to. I have been dealing with them since my son was discharged from the hospital. The only why ANYTHING gets done is asking to speak with a manager and even then it is 50/50 it will be done right. This company lacks any customer care practices. I placed an order, they billed me, and when the order was received I discovered they had sent incorrect items. I contacted them again to get this fixed. They sent the correct items, I returned the incorrect items. I contacted them again since the invoice did not specify the items being billed. Discovered that the billing was for the incorrect items. Contacted them again and they sent me from the billing department, to the supplies department and then back to billing. They were incapable of recognizing the bill was incorrect as it reflected what was orignally delivered not what was ordered and then finally delivered. After 3 hours they said they would refer it to a "verification team" with no ETA on resolution. read more

Unfortunately Kaiser only uses Apria, I have been trying hard to get my client a portable oxygen concentrator. I finally got them the information they needed, a proper script through his PCP. I found out from the office he was being denied this because his secondary insurance is Colorado Medicaid. It is my understanding it is all about the bottom line. Money. This company is very poor with their communication. My tank that I brought home from the hospital was only a 5 hour tank. I got home at 8:30. We started to call Apria at 8:45 pm. We called several times to schedule a delivery time last night. my tank ran out and I was without oxyge for several hours. It is now 7:15 am the next morning and my oxygen was finally delivered. Kaiser was also calling all night. They also said they tried to call me last night, but my phone was on and no one called! I also live .5 mile away from from this store. This experience was not needed since I am dealing with other health issues. Oxygen is a necessity! read more

I caught COVID this spring. It got bad enough that I went to the ER. They sent me home with an order for oxygen. When the delivery man got to my home he was of no help getting it set up. I had a wet cough from pneumonia. I'd start coughing and it was painful and constant for several minutes. The delivery man won't look around the living room to find the wall plug. I was starting to turn blue and he did the least he could do. Eventually I was able to get home to plug the concentrator into the wall. He just handed me the paperwork to sign. He was basically useless. When I called to return the equipment they gave me a date 12-5 pm pickup window. He showed up 9:00 am and left a note on the door. Horrible customer service. read more

Apria Healthcare is one of the worst durable medical equipment rental outfits - Highly recommend looking elsewhere. 1) Billing - Apria's billing department is overseas making billing questions impossible to answer. I spent over 30 minutes asking the same question with the clerk always providing a non-answer. 2) Rent to own - Apria confirmed via email the duration of my rent to own agreement twice. Later they changed the terms with no explanation, extending the rental period by 30% 3) Constant calls to sell supplies - Between Apria's automated system and personal calls, they contact me every week attempting to sell additional un-needed/un-requested supplies. There is no way to turn these off. 4) Phone support - I generally wait in queue 30-40 minutes before someone answers the phone. Four times had commitments from supervisors for return calls which never happened. Look elsewhere for your medical equipment rentals - I know I will. read more

My husband was discharged from the hospital at 1:30 pm on a Friday, with orders for oxygen. The hospital sent him with one small tank and said to call Apria as soon as he was home and settled. I spoke with Apria at 2:45 and was assured that an oxygen concentrator would be delivered by end of day. By 5 a.m. that tank was completely empty, and Apria was a no show. Being a veterinarian, I went to my office, filled my own small tanks, brought them home and resumed his oxygen therapy. Thankfully, I am well-versed in handling tanks and regulators. Apria finally called at 12:30 on Saturday, cheerfully telling me that the truck was right around the corner and they would be arriving momentarily. When I asked,there was no explanation for the delay, simply, "Well, our main office screws things up all the time." Thankfully, my husband only needed oxygen support and was not dependent upon it. Had his needs been more significant and had I not had the ability to procure oxygen, this could have ended with a death. I don't know if there is an agency that regulates companies like Apria..... if so, they should be paying attention. The hospital did file a report on it because it constitutes bad care. read more

Absolutely NO customer service skills. I'm the power of attorney for my mother who has dementia and handle her finances -including her O2 concentrater. Suddenly I received a $200 bill from them rather than $30 I've been paying for years. Luckily I keep all my receipts and confirmation numbers from my payments IN FULL online every month so I just gave them a quick call to resolve the issue. After five phone calls of no one being able to explain this large bill to me and no one returning my phone call after they said they would "look into it", they are now threatening to send me to collections when I've made it clear that I don't have a problem paying the bill as long as they can explain the sudden jump. They've had us stay up all night saying it would be delivered at various times throughout the night I cannot recommend any dealings with this company. They are very dysfunctional they lie. They tell you one thing and do another. Actually they do nothing, they let patient sit at home and have to urinate in a chair without having given them the walker wheelchair seat riser. They have given me wrong information over and over, making me pay 1100.00 when it was all said and done for machine 1. These guys blow! Very incompetent! I'm betting people have died because of their poor service. Update: My mom passed away at the end of 2018. She waited 3 months prior to her death for a portable concentrator oxygen unit which Apria never approved. She weighed under 100lbs and carrying the full size tank along with it's limited running time was cumbersome and physically difficult for her. Without the concentrator she was basically confined to the house during the last months of her life. Her doctors office submitted multiple requests and follow up calls to Apria for status. We called as well and were repeatedly told the order was being evaluated for approval. Seriously...months for approval for a required medical device prescribed by her physician? I considered buying the unit for my mom but they are very expensive. She wanted to have some freedom during her last days. She repeatedly said, "Maybe today I'll get my concentrator". Crap crap crap! Just starting oxygen therapy, and when I asked what type of machine would be brought to my home, I was told I just had to wait to find out. That's like placing an order in a restaurant, and then being told the waiter didn't know what I was going to be served until after he served it. Also told that rather than being provided with an invoice for my co-pay, that I had to give them a credit card in case "any damage occurred to their equipment." I COMPLETELY agree with Dave R. These guys blow! And I've only had one conversation with them. Doesn't look too promising going forward. read more

I would strongly urge anyone that has Apria pick up their equipment to make sure you have their representative sign a receipt for pickup since they don't offer one. After picking up all our three pieces of equipment they later claimed they only got two. I've had three phone calls with Apria with long hold periods and two different representatives admitting that they located the missing piece of equipment. One of those phone calls was on a recorded line with my Capital One Visa representative. Capital One took the $4000 plus charge off my account. After all that, I got a letter yesterday stating that Apria had turned us in to collections! On each of my phone calls with Apria, they always said that someone would get back with me, but no one ever did. Short of bringing legal action against them, I don't know how to get this resolved. I used to order from Apria Direct all the time. They were great. They always answered the phone if I had a question, and they kept my prescription, supply list and credit card number so I just had to click a few buttons and I would receive my order quickly. Then my insurance company dropped them as a vendor and I had to go somewhere else. Now I have new insurance and they are using Apria. Apria called me a month ago and I gave them my order. They said they would call back after they got the order approved from my insurer. They never did. I called my insurance company. They told me they had approved the order, and gave me an order number. I called Apria. I waited on the phone for 15 minutes before someone (from a call center) answered. At first they said they didn't have my order, which was submitted almost a month ago. They they "found" it. They said they had to get it approved through insurance. I told them I'd already talked to my insurance and they said it was approved and they are the ones who gave me the order number. Apria said they would call me back. I had a ResMed CPAP machine go bad during the warranty period. After 3 or 4 phone calls I was finally able to talk to someone about the warranty. I took the machine to the Colorado Springs office. Someone came and took the machine in. They came back out with the whole kit and I was told that there is no charge as it as under warranty. To my surprise they billed the insurance and charged me $111.61. When I questioned it I was told I needed to pay for the supplies that were in the kit. I did not need the supplies and would not have accepted them had I known I was going to get billed. Still challenging it. Will not use them again is able to and will not have a card on file. read more

NO INVOICE to customer???? NO business in the World operates this way!! On 'Automated' or on 'Manual' they DO NOT SUPPLY an invoice!!! ( they say they give a 'Quote'....but they Failed to do that either!!) My supplies arrived, DOUBLE what I ordered...NO invoice or packing slip in box!! NO invoice even emailed!!! I'm supposed to CALL each time & request one!! Which I did. Next day when it arrived....it was NOT readable by anyone except them!! NO explanation on customer charges...NO Explanation on what was sent to Insurance!! The data was there....but no-one but them knew what it meant!!! HORRIBLE business policy!!! I had day surgery four months ago. My surgery was an afternoon surgery that only allowed for a short on-site recuperation. The surgery was very successful but my oxygen absorption wasn't as high as they wanted before the surgery center closed for the night. So the fine doctors called in a home oxygen tank for me. Apria Healthcare delivered the oxygen. I used it for 6 hours. Maybe. Now, its four months later and I am highly frustrated with Apria! Their business process to pick up the equipment is shameful. They stall and delay, using business process as an excuse. It has taken four months to get this done. They are just like AOL was in the 1990s. They refuse to pick up their equipment, while they bill your insurance company monthly well after you need the equipment. In my case, I needed it 24 hours. yet they billed my insurance company for 5 months. Their process requires my physician to submit a new prescription to discontinue the oxygen. This maddens me because its a waste of his and my time and is a good example of why healthcare costs are so high, I had my physician send in the discontinuance prescription months ago. And now they still won't pick it up! (They wanted different wording in the prescription detail). After four maddening calls to Apria and two to my physician, they still wouldn't agree to pick the equipment up... Until, I told them that I was putting the equipment on the curb for the garbage system to take. That seemed to work. They said they would pick it up tomorrow. We shall see. If I could give 0 stars I would. Once again the service tech flaked on coming during the window they promised. Last 4 times they never showed or even called to reschedule. One time the tech called at 5:40 saying it was too late & she was going home. I was told they would be there between 10-1. I waited all day. Missed business appointments. Cost me money. Etc etc this company is terrible. No professional courtesy or concern for medical patients. Someone needs to audit them & not allow insurance companies to do business with them including Medicare. They are taking advantage of these companies as well as the patients they serve. I wish there were choices when it came to oxygen machines & sleep apnea devices. No one would use Apria. read more

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!! Apria delivered the oxygen tank and called us to pick up the tank a week later. When the driver arrived, I gave the tank to the delivery driver. Little did we know they continued to charge our insurance and our bank account. When my wife called Apria to correct the error, the customer service rep laughed at her, argued we still had the tank. They refused to let us talk to anyone else and claimed we still had the tank. This was almost two years ago and they are still trying to get $ from our bank account, charge our insurance and are harassing us. read more

A few weeks ago, I called to schedule an appointment for medical equipment. The location I wanted to visit was scheduling about 6 weeks in advance. Instead, settled for an appointment about one week out at an alternate inconvenient location. At appointment, I was put in with another patient for instructions for my medical equipment... (?) I work in healthcare, and I think this practice does not really provide good customer care. At that appointment, I received my equipment and was told, "If you need an adjustment, you can just come back in within one month at no additional charge..." In the meantime, I had decided that I would like to have my equipment adjusted. Attempted to reach the local office to see if I could come in the same day to pick up new equipment. I attempted to call the "local" number to see if a live human in the office could help me. Nope. The "local" number connects the caller to the Apria national number with its endless menu selections. Telephone scheduling system is horrible. I was transferred numerous times. At one point, I was told that they couldn't even help me--I would need to call another number. I called back. Got the national system again. Gave up and DROVE directly to the same office I had visited before. They told me I needed an appointment and would have to schedule later. As I was talking to the scheduler, by chance, the employee who had helped me previously came into the office, and inquired, "Sir, is there anything that I can help you with?" The scheduler then asked her, "Oh, he wants to get a mask fit. Do you have a minute?" The other employee was behind me, and did not even answer verbally, she just quickly shook her head and nearly RAN from the room. This is the shitti*st service that I have received in recent memory. My biggest regret is that I will actually have to schedule a follow-up appointment with these people to receive my new equipment.
