Meet the Business Owner: Lon P.
Lon is the former Advertising Manager of the Milwaukee Journal, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Business Publications Corp. in Des Moines, Iowa. He has also worked for Freedom Communications and Thomson Newspapers in management roles.
Lon has served on the boards of numerous community and business organizations including Junior Achievement and the Boy Scouts of America Council.
Among Lon's many awards, he was especially proud to have been honored as the 2006 Citizen of the Year from the VFW, for meritorious and distinguished service to veterans.
Earlier in his career, Lon spent several years as a sea captain and holds a 100-ton Coast Guard license. Living and working in the Caribbean, Florida, Great Lakes and the Bahamas had some benefits but one can tend to get a bit of sea water between the ears living that lifestyle, so he "swallowed anchor" and came back to land. Lon is also an avid rugby fan, having played, coached and refereed the sport for many years.
