Yes I had called around to other lawyers and gotten rates of $1800 and $2000 but to go from $1200 to $21000 is so messed up but I needed it set up immediately so I just said fine out of pure exhaustion. But it's just leaving a completely bitter taste in my mouth about the whole thing. It was also incredibly annoying how he wouldn't listen and kept pushing me to make the payout from my trust to just once or twice a year. I started out monthly but gave in and said quarterly and three times THREE times I had to say no I didn't want it to go any longer than quarterly. I won't be using him again for anything else. Last Dec we got a letter from the KDR saying we owed them $1900.00 from 2017 , upon further investigation we learned that $550.00 of that was from Penalties and Interest. My husband is a Contractor and had worked in 4 different states that yr and paid state taxes in all states, she recorded all 4 state tax amounts as being paid to Ks, therefore we received a return that was not due us. When brought to her attention she never admitted fault, amended our taxes and sent in an abatement letter asking to reverse the penalties and/or interest. When asked about those she said she would do our taxes free for us the following year. The end result , the state did not change anything, amount of Tax owed, penalties or Interest. We have never heard a word from her , she did not go to bat for us at all.
