The house was clean, updated, had air conditioning, comfy beds, linens/bath towels provided, laundry on site, fenced backyard, and an outdoor dog kennel for those who need it. TV and wifi were easy to use. Easy to get to Wellfleet beaches and major ponds via backroads. They even offer grocery delivery if booked in advance! I committed…read moreto a Del Mar Vacation over this past summer based on what appeared to be a wonderful property that my family could enjoy. There was some compelling advertising involved that raised our expectations for a wonderful week on Cape Cod. Unfortunately it ended up being nothing like we imagined from the beautiful pictures and well-written ads. This was a week vacation in Yarmouth Port, MA July 18-25. I committed to this based on advertising by Del Mar Vacations referring to a renovated home, a hidden gem, and a 5-star experience. Instead, it turned out to be an expensive nightmare for my family who had arrived from 3 different states based on these inflated descriptions. There were appalling conditions both outside and inside the property. The outside was a mess, and the inside included stained carpets and chairs, ripped screens, one of the apartments emanated strong musty odors, apparent mold and parts of the ceiling noticeably cracked, live insects were found hanging on flypaper in both the kitchen and dining room areas (which was disgusting), and the electrical lights downstairs kept flickering on and off whenever we engaged the A/C. These conditions were evident the moment we walked in, and we called to let Del Mar Vacations know how shocked and disappointed we were. Check-in time was late in the day and Del Mar refused to find us an alternative location. Consequently, we were forced to endure 1 night there. These conditions were eventually acknowledged by both a Del Mar manager and the Director of Hospitality Operations, but despite the fact that we felt strongly and relayed that these conditions were unacceptable, we were left to find another location in the middle of July entirely on our own, and Del Mar eventually insisted on keeping 70% of our fees. I was so disturbed by this treatment that I wrote the CEO of Del Mar, but he never even bothered to get back to me or even acknowledge my letter, and left it to one of his reports to give me the bad news that nothing further would be done. At one point, another manager suggested that Del Mar would refund an additional 20% if I removed my negative review, which seemed in appropriate and unethical to me. On this basis, I cannot recommend Del Mar Vacations to anyone, and I would suggest that whoever is considering a property do a thorough search of the property reviews first, and if possible, view the property before you commit to it. And check to see if all the reviews are there in the first place. I just looked again at the ad for the home I rented, and I'm very curious why that property indicates there were 79 reviews in total, but I find only 50 are available online, all of which are 4- or 5-star reviews. Apparently my review is one of those not included. Buyer Beware. Del Mar's advertising can be misleading and if you have big problems like we had, don't count on getting your money back!

She met me the same day, was honest and knew exactly what the general value of the home was and could be, told me exactly would need to be done in order the get the property ready for sale, and when it came time to finally sell, she called in her "team" of resources, ie. contractors and local businesses that could get the jobs done in a cost effective, timely, and efficient manner. She was able to turn what was an adorable but neglected property in need of a makeover and many updates, into a sellable home within about a week and a half. She made herself available for all this work to be done and to show the home. I am out of town as is the other co-owner and Donna did all of this coordinating, hiring, and overseeing of the work herself. The house sold almost immediately. I cannot imagine anyone better at this work than Donna and would recommend her to anyone within the scope of her selling/buying area. She is a gem and one would be lucky to work with her.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the cottage behind the rental office last week and had the most…read moreamazing experience. The cottage itself is set back from the road amid a beautiful garden and right near the woods. It was clean, spacious, stocked with everything (and more!) than we expected, and decorated with an adorable rooster meets beach theme. The owners, who live in the house in the front, were extremely friendly and helpful but also gave us the utmost privacy. Everything from booking to picking up and sadly dropping off the keys was a breeze. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone thinking of vacationing in Orleans.

First of all, let me begin by saying this is not airbnb - it's better. It's cheaper than airbnb, and the owner of the rental agency lives nearby, and is able to help you with any questions you may have. The location was amazing for the price that we paid, and the house was spotless with a huge yard. We had such a nice time strolling to the beach or taking a short drive into town. The house was also nice just for hanging around and playing games or whatever. I usually stay in airbnbs when I travel, but this was a nice change -- it felt good to support a local business, which made me feel like I was helping to build the community AND saving money. I would highly recommend The Cape Housing Company for any Cape Cod vacation. You won't regret it!

My family has rented houses on the Cape every summer for many years…read more Usually we rent from families directly but our family has grown out of many of the homes we have rented in the past, so we went through this agency this time. We rented a large house which sleeps 14 people this summer. The first thing was we had to rent the linens separately. OK fair enough-it is extra work and expense to wash those after renters-even though we usually do much of the laundry before we leave a rental anyway...so we get to the house, all 14 of us and there is one roll of toilet paper, and one kitchen hand towel for 14 people-really? When we called the agency, we were told we were to provide all of our own paper goods. OK yeah, its not our first time on the merry go round here-we know we need to go to the store but to not put even a 'starter' roll of toilet paper in each bathroom-come on. That's just cheap. For several thousand dollars a week, you provide a bit of TP and a few creature comforts. There were also not enough waste baskets for the bathrooms and bedrooms. And the kitchen policy was so militant in terms of leaving no food that there were no condiments or olive oils or anything..... Every other place we've rented has had a few nice things left behind so you don't have to get EVERYTHING to stock the kitchen. And we in turn leave things for the next renters. There was a sign on the refrigerator about these policies...it read a bit like a warning for teenagers renting a party house. Then there was the cleaning policy: the cleaning was extra, a lot extra, but did not include the linens or the floors or the stove, ...ok we are also apparently supposed to clean the house too-sweep floors, etc. and pay the fee. There are so many cool places on the Cape, there is no reason to put up with this lack of accommodation for a big expensive rental.
