This business is not worth even one star. My friend recently bought 4 appliances from here, believing that the owner was a nice and ethical businessman. She truly thought he was trustworthy. The appliances were an utter disaster. I don't believe the owner even looked at these machines. The washer would not let water in. The dryer smelled like it was smoking and sounded like rocks were banging around inside. When checked it had literally 2 garbage bags worth of lint on the motor inside. And there were rocks and coins and leaves inside. She took pictures. The stove has a relay that keeps getting hotter and hotter which she can't afford to fix right now. Two other burners are questionable. The fridge bangs and she says she is unsure how much life it has because now water is showing up in the freezer. Trying to contact the owner is nigh impossible unless you want to sit in front of the shop for a day or two and hope he shows up. His phone is not working. She now wishes she had read some of the poor reviews. Beware. Who can afford to truck four appliances back and forth to someone who didn't live up to their part of the deal in the beginning. My family has purchased used appliances from the Appliance King for several years now. The selection is quite good for a smaller business. They give a 60 day warranty on used appliances and for a reasonable fee will deliver and haul away old appliances. We bought my father a washing machine two years ago from the Appliance King that still works perfectly. My sister and her husband have purchased more than one item over the last 4 years and have no complains. I just replace my refrigerator and have hopes that it will service me for some time to come. There was a time I would not have considered anything but new. However, with our economy in troubled times buying refurbished items is often a necessity. The trick is finding someone reputable. I find Mark Warner the owner of Appliance King to be that needle in a haystack. I trust him and the next time something breaks I'll be right back over there checking out what he's got. If i could give negative stars i would. It should be a red flag when a business owner only communicates with his customers through his delivery guys...recently learned this valuable lesson...purchased washer dryer from this dynamic duo at appliance king... the issues began immediately at delivery. The "experienced guy" delivered and hooked up hoses and when we turned the machine on it hummed a little. He said give it time to unthaw and hightailed it out of there...Sure enough, in the cold, the machine had frozen on the way out...so we were relieved when a couple hours later we tried again and the water started filling. The machine was loud but it seemed to be agitating and we let it run its course keeping our eyes and ears open! As it entered into a rinse cycle water flooded my laundry room. No number to call the owner, we called trusty delivery man. "Oh dear" he laughed. "Forgot to hook up the drain hose..." haha...not so funny with water all over two rooms...but at this point we were relieved that it was an easy fix!! Not so fast however...after cleaning up the mess we started our test run over again. STILL LOUD. But we thought that was because no clothes were actually included, and maybe its a strong agitation for permanent press. W e ought to get our clothes really clean right?? coming up to rinse cycle we were again shot in the foot. The water level was only filling a third of the setting. Again, no way to contact the owner...we again turned to the wonder boy/ delivery man, who told us "I'm just the delivery man"...but he declined to give us any contact number or any way to contact the owner...here we are...Friday afternoon...defective machine...a check in the hands of "just the delivery guy"...and what remained of my wits after moving across the country in this sub freezing weather, was out the door...I called my brand new bank and stopped the check and found I had to go in to complete that. Delivery Boy told me he would get in touch with the owner and get back with me Monday! Ok...what am i to do but wait... Monday came and went...really cold. No call from Dandy Delivery Guy...Tuesday...Wednesday...Thursday...no call from anyone associated with Appliance king...so we arranged for a repairman to come fix the washer. Friday we went by the store front on main street in joplin. Rang the bell...knocked on the door...walked around back...pickup there, but it seems the owner doesnt want to talk to anyone, or maybe just us...we leave a note in the door, Took the applicable pictures...what a great way to do business huh? We say we want to pay for the dryer, which seems to work and renegotiate for the washer, which we are fixing ourselves. We've lost all confidence in Delivery Guy and Owner by this time. LO AND BEHOLD...he got the note! miraculously found his phone and make a call!!! Nasty man now tried to claim Boy Wonder never told him anything...not a good go between either...or Owner simply lies...you choose. We offered him a pretty fair deal. Paying full asking price for the dryer and 1/2 for the defective washer and he can keep the warraty offered...but Mark says "no way"...best thing he ever did for us...and came out to pick up the units. I filmed the whole thing ... We went across the street to a real appliance store called Metro appliance and got a great deal on a new set. For only $250 more I got a new set...for $30 less than i paid "bungler delivery guy" they are delivering them to my home and setting them up...moral of this story? IF A STORE OWNER DOESNT ANSWER HIS PHONE THERE IS A REASON...AND ITS PROBABLY PrETTY CONSISTENT WITH COMPLAINTS...there is a sign in the store he only warranties IF YOU BRING HIS CRAP BACK IN. THERE IS NO "SERVICE CALLS". As the "delivery guy" told us...it ain't going to happen " read more

We have purchased a dishwasher, a refrigerator and a washer and dryer, at different times and were pleased with the price as well as the service. I've bought several appliances from this guy. Couldn't have a more helpful Or nice person. Even told me how to go about fixing something that was an easy fix and saved me a lot of money in not having to buy a washer and dryer!! How many people would do that without trying to sell you something you do not need? He sure helped out! I can't understand how anyone could give him a bad review. All I can say Is they must have been real jerks and had it coming. We all know they're people out there Like that who are a pain to do business with. He's not one of them! I have bought Many appliances from him. A refrigerator, stove and just got my dishwasher from him. My mother has too. He treated her wonderfully. HonestLy I can't say enough good things about him. The help and money he has saved me has been such a blessing! I can't imagine how anyone could give a poor review unless they were royal jerks themselves!
