At the Appliance Repair Centre they guarantee to repair leading makers of everything from microwaves to vacuum cleaners and it is all done with speed and at a price which is more than reasonable. Again this place has a variety of spare parts and as such is in direct competition with the Bargain Shop. I would say there is very little to choose between the two and my decision would be based primarily on the proximity I was to either of the two establishments. To find one of these shops is rare nowadays so two is a minor miracle and the people of Selly Oak can count themselves fortunate.

My friend who recommended them was equally pleased with them. £40 call out but no more labour charges. If they need to order parts they'll come back and charge you for the parts but not for fitting them. My machine was fixed for parts he had with him so I paid the £40 plus money for parts plus VAT. It seemed fair.

This company is a sole trading con man. He calls himself Paul but thats not his name on companies…read morehouse, I wonder why? He seems to have different business addresses wherever you look as well. Just had 'Paul' out to repair a washing machine. He advised we had a leaking pump, tried to quote £160+, mainly for parts. so we checked the price of parts online and somehow he manged to drop his price to £90, just like that. Of course only if we wrote the check to him personally, will be advising the tax man. Once he changed our pump he then advised that it could be something else. Of course once we tried the machine the same fault was still there, well actually it didn't work at all at first because he had turned the water down too low. He now wants to charge for the real problem again. Of course we have cancelled the cheque so he gets nothing. But its cost us £12.50 to do this for sonething that didn't need repairing in the first place. When I called him all he does is talk over me, gives abuse and swears, to be honest, he's quite threatening. My wife didn't like his attititude when he visited either. In short, this is a 100% con man and avoid this company at all costs, especially if you're a woman on her own. I shall of course report this little man to trading standards.
