I've long ragged on Applebee's, but tonight we dined there after I received a gift card. Now I know why this is only the 2nd time I've eaten there in 20 years. Not only was the food substandard (and the appearance VASTLY different than what was pictured), but many of the items were not even hot. If I'm dead in the near future, it's probably the Applebee's shrimp whose temperature varies from lukewarm to cold. How they accomplish that within the same shrimp is a mystery to me. It's painfully obvious that most food is not "cooked" in the traditional sense of the word, but more like reheated leftovers. And subpar leftovers, at that. Two entrees, one drink from the bar, and a shared dessert was $48 before tip. There are dozens of places I could name off the top of my head that I could spend less and have a better experience. read more

My wife said this place was good... B.S!!! I ordered their version of a med. rare steak. It was the toughest piece of shoe leather I've had the misfortune to eat/chew/gnaw. Let's start with the glass my hubby was given to sample a draft, it was dirty, the table they sat us at was dirty and sticky, we moved and told our waitress why, she never bothered to come back and clean it, when they sat another couple there we told the host that the table was still dirty, not cleaned as you would think, he went over and cleaned it for the couple. My dinner was subpar, so much burnt stuff on the sizzle plate that it made everything taste burnt. My husband did enjoy his meal. I told the waitress that it was burnt and couldn't eat anymore and her only response was "oh". So let's tally it up: dirty table, dirty glassware, no mushrooms and burnt. We we eat here or recommend this Applebee's, not in a heartbeat. We have traveled over 4,000 miles this trip and this was the first bad meal we gave had. read more

I love your lunch specials and sometimes you just gotta have good ol Applebees. I love the late night happy hour also! After shopping at Target I love the fact that it's in the same parking lot. I recently had a situation where how it was handled was amazing. I am pregnant and alllll I was craving was the pretzels and mustard. The cheese is good too but the mustard is literally life. I ordered using carside to go and ordered other food items as well. I get all the way home and gasp.....some one forgot my mustard!!!!! Usually going back isn't an issue but then my pretzels would have been cold and hard by then. It's about a 20 minute drive from my house. I called and spoke with the manager and I admitted I was pregnant and all I was craving was the mustard and he kindly chuckled and offered to make me more pretzels and a double batch of the yellow goodness. We came here on Memorial Day. Someone else's choice not mine. The server was nice. However the food service was lacking. Not sure where the issue lay, we were a party of 5. 1 ordered appetizers as their meal, including French fries. The food comes out, no fries. They said they were making fresh ones, ok, no big deal, what 5 mins? 10 mins in, I asked about it, they said it'd be right up.... about 20 mins later after a whole steak dinner was finished by 1 of us, did the French fries come out. The person who ordered the appetizers, wanted to eat all of it together. He sat there watching the rest of us eat, while he waited for his fries. Then when his fries finally arrived we were finished and now sat watching him eat his food. We didn't ask for it, but by at that point they should have offered to comp him his fries. The server knew, she kept saying, "it'll be right out". We come to Spokane, specifically this area, a couple of times a year to visit family. Besides the fact that there are plenty of other area restaurants, I probably won't be coming back here again unless made to. read more

i have been here dozens of times and i love the 2 for $22. it's great to split and i just love the atmosphere. of course every experience is different but some days they are way understaffed which is terrible but it can be slow. i will continue to go there though! read more

Walked in and waited 10 min to be greeted and shown to our seats, they were not busy. Then waited another 15 min for our waters. While we were waiting for our order to be taken a couple that waited at the door standing for about ten minutes walked out. Our waitress then takes our order, and her voice is very condescending, asking us what we wanted. Worst experience ever. read more

My family and I decided to eat here yesterday and I felt I needed to give a review. We were told the wait time was 15 minutes. At about 30 minutes in the manager came over to us and proceeded to apologize because we were not seated yet. We hadn't complained nor even made any "quiet" comments. He was just being an attentive manager. After apologizing for the wait he asked us what appetizer we would like and he would order it for us (on the house) and he would have it waiting for us at our table when we were seated. Very good customer service. On the food side I think they could have done much better. The appetizers were perfect, but the entrees were all bland. I had the bourbon chicken and shrimp and it was extremely bland. The same could be said for all the other dishes at our table. A little seasoning would go a long way. My wife loves the fiesta lime chicken and in the past it had a much better flavor. I will come back because of the service but I will hope the kitchen kicks it up a notch. read more

I swear our waiter was high. The idea of going to a restaurant is to get your food all together, not staggered over 10 minutes. My French onion soup (delivered after my entree) was lukewarm and the cheese was not cooked. My buddy ordered a large beer received a small. Our waiter Brett was useless. He forgot items, we had to ask several times for missing items from our selections. The manager Tyler was good, he tried to make things right service wise...but after telling him about our experience there was nothing offered as compensation. I am writing this review mostly to praise the customer service at this location, though the food is pretty darn good, the atmosphere and staff are outstanding! After a very bad experience at another restaurant where I walked out without eating, my friend and I came to Applebee's because it was getting late, and we know this location stays open later than most places in North Spokane. Though I thought my night was ruined, it turned out to be a happy accident - because it led me to one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. We sat in the bar (which we prefer because it's so cozy and relaxed, with lots of TV and things to look at), and were greeted by our server Brittany. She asked how our night was, and I immediately vented about the restaurant I'd just walked out of. She said that she had another couple who came in complaining about the same restaurant - and from there we had easy conversation and I immediately felt comfortable with her. She recommended great drinks (she's a great bartender because they were delicious, too) and was very attentive. There were a few other people in the bar area, and she was great with them all. When our food arrived, I was impressed. I ordered a steak, which was cooked to absolute perfection (if you see my previous reviews, you'll notice I don't throw around that word lightly, if ever), and my friend's dish was great, too. The best part though, was when our server played a little joke on us to cheer us up. We had a good rapport going by then, so she knew we would appreciate it. To give some context: One of the complaints I had vented about the previous restaurant we'd visited, was that I had ordered wings, and was told I would be charged if I wanted carrots and/or celery with them (which is absurd for a wing place!). So, when we were eating, a server who had not waited on us brought two little condiment cups and sat them down on the table. Immediately after, another server who had not waited on us, brought two little condiment cups and set them down on the table, too. Lastly, our server brought... Yep, you guessed it: two little condiment cups and set them down on the table. I looked into the cups, and each one contained a single baby carrot. The moment I realized what was going on, I burst into laughter, and once my friend caught on, we were in stitches. The servers who were in on it were all giggling too. It was the most unexpected, funny, and somehow caring gesture I have ever had dining out. I had been so upset earlier that night, and by a fluke we ended up at Applebees with the best server in the entire world, eating amazing food, nearly crying with laughter. I thought it was so cool how the servers (even the ones who had not been our waiters) banded together to cheer us up, and still managed to be courteous, attentive, kind and professional to every person in the place. My friend and I both decided that we would try to give her as close to a 100% tip as we could between us - and if my bank account had allowed it, I would have tipped more. It was a special experience I will not soon forget - and I will be telling everyone about it. I have had exceptional customer service experiences each time I have visited this Applebee's location - no matter what, they always make it right. And sometimes, you get someone really special like Brittany who goes above and beyond. I will definitely be back! read more

*This review is for the bar and HH only* One of my favorite spots to hit up after work or for happy hour (HH). They have TV's everywhere you look in the bar area. I can't remember the last time I ate in the restarant portion, but right in the middle of the restaurant is the bar area. They have specials for different days of the week or from 4p-6p and 9p to close. Half price appitizers, $3 dafts on tap, $3 well drinks. You pretty much can get some boneless buffalo wings and a 18oz drink for $6 for your frugal self. read more

Woooow worst service ever. Went there today and it was nearly empty but that didn't stop the wait staff from being extremely slow and far from courteous. They tried to over charge us, with our artichoke dip we got a plate of tortilla crumbs. They particularly asked if we would like a child's burger pink in the middle to which we stated no and received a pink in the middle burger. They offered to bring a new one but we didn't have an hour to wait. Nobody expects a lot from Applebee's but come on! Act like you have a clue. read more

First of all, I ordered my meal carside pickup, a waitress came out and told me it would be a while, told her i got a text stating that my order was ready for pick up, she said I'll go check, came back out and said yes it's ready, but instead of bringing me the order, she said I had to go inside and get it. So much for "a staff member will bring your order to you". I had ordered a sirloin steak (medium) with baked potato. I got well done steak and mashed potato, which weren't even luke warm! Ok. 2 stars is generous. So. Went in (Sunday night) not busy. Noone at the bar, and maybe 5 or 6 tables with people in the place. Took almost 10 minutes till someone come by and said, "someone will be by shortly to take your order." shortly is a relative term, but another 10 seemed like eternity. Took our food and drink order, and we ordered a new special that just started advertising on tv (.25$ wings) . She explained how to order, and we did. Came back by about 5 minutes later and said she talked with her manager, and was informed the special was NOT as explained, so we reordered. About 10 minutes went by, and no drinks. I was extremely thirsty, so finally seen a pitcher of water, and fetched it. Went to the bar, and bartender fixed me up with glasses and ice. Most of the drink order solved. Finally a guy shows up with our drink order with an extra glass of soda. Not ours. Server came by and quickly grabbed the pitcher of water I fetched, and explained they don't allow pitchers on the table. Oh.... Still waiting (which seemed an eternity) for food. Nothing. Finally server walked by and was asked about how long on the food, and she snapped it was was coming (but didn't check as I watched). I used to own a resteraunt, and stated, "something funky going on here", but can't figure out what it was. My wife stated "we must be in a parallel universe." (parallel universe is the one where everything is exact opposite.) The food finally arrived, and time elapsed since we walked in the door was about 50 minutes. Ugh. Server doesn't understand what wing sauces there are, but we think we figured that out. The food was hot and excellent, but time was crazy. I used to own a resteraunt, and am usually pretty good at figuring out what's going on, but concluded in this case, the parallel universe theory is about the best and only explanation. Time in, and out for 3 of us was about 80 minutes. 20 wings, cup of soup, tea, and brownie with icecream was our total order. I left alot out, because I didn't want it to long. I was so pleased with the entire experience last night at this Applebees, wow from the greeting when I entered, to the Manager seating me, and telling me the name of my waiter, and then the Waiter OMG, Neil was divine, checked on the table after food was ordered, kept in the shadowns when needed, helped with closeout afterwards, so kind and explained a lot of the menu as I needed just ton of vegetables and meat, and the steak was cooked to perfection and the meal was very delightful. Thank you so much, I will certainly come back, I hadn't seen a friend in a while, and what a pleasure it is to have had the nice experience with you folks. My DIL's ribs arrived and were room temp. Green beans were practically cold. Fries were ok. We called the waiter over and told him. He said "So, do you want me to have them re-make it?" NO, genius, we just thought it would be fun to chat with you over cold ribs. He didn't even apologize, but he took the whole plate away. By the time the new ribs came, the rest of us were almost done eating and the waiter said, "Sorry, no fries up yet. I'll bring them when they are done." The ribs were now hot, but DRY DRY DRY. There was hardly any meat on them, either. My DIL gave up. Good thing she had eaten an appetizer, cuz that was her dinner! I told the seating host to send the manager over. We waited. And waited. And waited. The waiter came again (with her fries - we were all done eating at that point) and I told him to take the plate away and we were not going to pay for it. I also told him we asked to see the manager, who still had not shown up. He said he would tell the manager again. Then we waited...and waited....and finally the credit showed up on the table-top computer thingy, so I was ready to pay and get out of there. Still no manager. I think it had been at least 20 min since I first called for him to come over. It was by far THE WORST experience at Applebee's I have ever had. This was our first time in this restaurant since moving to Spokane. If a manager cannot even take the time to come see a customer then that reflects on how poorly run this place is. I have been to this location multiple times over the years. The service is always decent, but the quality of the food has been consistently declining regardless of the dish. Went tonight and there was a new burger on the menu (don't recall the name of it but it had mozzarella, tomatoes, onion, balsamic something). Absolutely tasteless; no flavor at all. Not sure how that's possible, but they pulled it off. My daughter had the chicken strips, and only had two because they were "very dry". Pretty disappointing...I think we're done with Applebee's. read more

I'll admit I'm writing this review in biased fashion. Went there for a free Veteran's Day meal and got the royal treatment. Ally, first of all, thanked my sister and I for our service and was immediately alerted that I was eligible for a free beer because of the charitable donations from other customers. Really cool thing they had going. So, regardless of their shortcomings any other day of the year, first impressions are lasting impressions. I last went in this location in 2009 when I was visiting, way before I moved here. Since it's been such a long time, it was like going in for the first time all over again. read more

Ok, I love Applebees, I really have to admit it. But, what I don't like is when my steak isn't cooked to my request, that makes me a very grumpy and unhappy person. My current love is the garlic sirloin with creamed spinach atop a portobello mushroom and red potatoes. It is part of the healthier, lighter menu they offer with an approval stamp from weight watchers, I have had it 3 times now, it is very good and addicting! Last time I had it though, I asked for it to be cooked medium, it came to me well done. Also, the cook peppered *everything* and to make it worse, I HATE black pepper! The server was sweet, she had a manager come by and he asked about my food, I said the cook peppered my food beyond being edible for me. The entree was taken off our tab (thankfully!). The server felt so bad and kept saying sorry. I assured her it wasn't her fault, she took our order, made sure we were happy, our apps & drinks were brought to us in a timely manner, she was tipped well, the cook making our food wasn't her fault. I love the chicken won tons (appetizers) & their spinach dip. I don't like the drinks here, aside from the mudslide. If you have a good bartender that night, they will make the mudslide properly. Never used to be fans of Applebee's thinking their food is always bland and overpriced but this last time we went back, the food was great! We had Jessica as our waitress and she was very very kind and seemed genuinely interested in knowing more about my girlfriend and I's upcoming trip to Hawaii.
