Our waitress took forever to greet us, but was very nice the three times she came to our table. When we got our food, I asked another waitress for a ranch and she said okay, but then went to bus tables and we never received the dressing. We came quite late, but still had plenty of time to order multiple of the $1 margaritas. She failed to mention to us when they made last call, so eventually when she came back to our table and we wanted to order more she then informed us, but she was at the table next to us at least 5 times prior to eventually coming back to our table. That being said, she had plenty of opportunities to inform us of last call and give us the option to order more while we had a chance. The bartender, and restaurant as a whole made no announcement of said last call. We will not be returning to this location. read more

It takes over a half hour to make spinach dip? We saw a manager come out with the dip, walk the entire restaurant, and return with it still in her hands to the kitchen because she had no idea what table it belonged to. Then a waiter, other than the one that took our order, tells us that the kitchen was slammed and they're still working on our order. We finally get our appetizers and that server tells us the order was only placed 6 minutes ago when in fact we placed our order over a half hour before. I wouldn't normally take the time to write a review about Applebee's, since I'm sure almost everyone has eaten there at least once in their life and they're all pretty standard, but I was especially disappointed with this one so I had to share. I think service is everything and I'm usually pretty easy to please as long as I'm served something edible and with a smile. I've been a server so I know how pain in the butt picky people can be, so I'm never one of them. If I'm served something I don't like, I usually don't complain, I just chalk it up to lessen learned and don't order it again. Bad service however, that's a reason for not going back. That being said... I stopped in today between the lunch and dinner crowd (2pm). We were sat quickly and our server Missy came over, introduced herself, and asked how we were. I answered politely 'Good, thanks. You?' She responded deadpan 'Busy. You ready?' Mmmmmmk...... We ordered the spinach and artichoke appetizer, the shrimp fettuccine, and a kids hotdog (just me and the mini me). The appetizer arrived quickly and we polished it off in no time. I'm five months preggo and skipped breakfast due to some tests at the hospital so yes, I was like a hungry hungry hippo. Anyway, the food arrived and the waitress ran by to check on us less than 20 seconds later. I said yes, we're fine, thanks. Once I had a chance to take a bite, I realized the shrimp was pretty fishy. Not wanting to be a complainer I say in the nicest way possible 'It's probably just me, but it's really fishy'. She asks if I want to take it home....No, duh. So she takes it and walks away. Honestly, I just sat there a little confused. Is she coming back? Isn't she going to offer me something else? She looks like she might be a little overwhelmed, maybe she's just going to get a manager because she doesn't know what to do. Maybe she's new. Nope, not coming back huh? Hmmmm. No it's ok, I'm good. I'll just sit here and eat my arm or something. Oh well, we're on a schedule and we've already been there a while so I figure I'll just order dessert instead and she'll probably take the Fishy McGross off the bill. When she comes back we order two of the cheesecake shooters and she drops the bill. Hmmm....nope she charged for everything. $32 for a couple chips, a kiddie hotdog, and two shot glasses of cheesecake. $37 after tip cause even though she's terrible at her job maybe she's got a hard life and who am I to judge, I'm not a total jerk. Those delicious looking Riblets were once sitting in a freezer, longing to be cooked in a microwave. It makes you look at Applebee's differently. The atmosphere is party-like and retro; great for a dinner with friends and family. Our small family has been to this location 3 to 4 times in the past few months, and each time we have had consistently good food and, on the occasions we have had Robert as our server, outstanding service. We can't compliment this guy enough. The restaurant is smoke-free, as are all in Indiana now, so no problems there. And compared to other places in Northwest Indiana, the clientele at this location are quite civil, making for a pleasant dining experience. It is nice knowing that somebody somewhere cares about consistency with both food and service. Meh. I went there yesterday with my 2 year old and my husband. Host was very friendly and pleasant. I was a bit underwhelmed by the server she didn't even acknowledge my daughter who was just trying to be friendly and say high. The food came out quickly but was somehow cold. I ordered the quesadilla burger which was way too cheesey and the burger was very undercooked and mushy. We also had wanton tacos which I thought were Great but my husband didn't like because they're topped with coleslaw. My daughter had the chicken fingers and broccoli. The broccoli was rubbery but the chicken fingers where great. I really liked that they have an IPad like device on the table with games for kids. My daughter was quite and sat still while waiting for food. When we arrived we requested a booth and was told it would be 35 minute wait So we decided the bar was fine. When we first said down there were 12 tables, four of them booths that were open and 10 or 12 people waiting to be seated. I ordered the fajita trio. The chicken and shrimp were OK, the steak was tough and not very tasty. Fajitas are supposed to sizzle when they bring them to the table and they did not. The green peppers and onions covered up by the rice so I didn't even know they were there. The tortilla shell edges were hard as a rock. My wife ordered a half slab of ribs which is was about the size of my hand. It was overcooked and hardly any sauce on there. It was definitely not worth the $45 we spent with the tip. When we left I asked the hostess why there was so many empty tables with all these people waiting and she told me that if they seated all the tables the kitchen would be overwhelmed and it would take an hour for everybody to get their meal. That's ridiculous, bad management. The kitchen should be able to handle that, time for a new manager and a new kitchen manager. read more

Went in on Monday afternoon and seating was good. Hardly anyone there. I really don't do Applebee's but was with a friend and we were starving and this was right in our face. Ordered the noodle dish with the artichokes, cherry tomatoes n spinach in it. Presentation was ok, taste was decent. My friend ordered chicken with shrimp over it with potatoes. Her potatoes were burned to a crisp. Really and the cook sent these out. Anyway waiter never came back. We finally got him from the table next to us and showed him the burned potatoes. He took them back and then the manager came out and apologized and said that she could get new, they were ok. When I got home I got so sick. This was the only meal I had eaten so I was convinced that I had gotten food poisoning from this place. I threw up everything and had diarrhea which continued until the next day. I'm not sure what happened but it wasn't a good experience for me. We had almost finished our meal before the waiter was even near our table again for us to tell him about the burned potatoes. Wife sees a new skillet (Shrimp Scampi) which is virtually identical (except for a few spices i believe) which sells for $10.99 on the menu and orders that in place of the Bourbon Street Chicken. We order two salads because that's what always comes with the 2 for $30 meals. RESULTING BILL IS $37. $10.99 for hers $15.99 for mine $10 dollars for two salads. So the choice to get a different flavor not only required my wife to pay $5 for a salad, it apparently took mine off of special making my meal $16 in stead of $15 but also created a a a charge of $5 for my salad. See how that works. Consider this...I could have ordered the 2 or $30 for myself which would include 2 salads and then ordered my wife a $10.95 dinner she wanted. Total $41.00 and a whole meal to take home. Tried to adjust like this but management has no power whatsoever.... blames it on corporate. Stopped in at 9pm last night. There were 3 of us. We walked in and there was a party of 4 waiting at the host stand. No one seemed to be taking care of them. We saw the manager, Sean, with 3 servers near the bar, laughing, chatting and visiting with each other. Sean made eye contact with me and saw a total of 7 people waiting at the host stand. At least he should have seen all of us. he started walking in our direction and quickly turned and went into the kitchen. he came back out, approached and said to the woman in the party ahead of us..." how many?", she replied 4. he turned to the guy and the 2 kids standing right next to her and said to the man..."And you're a party of 3?". Although all 4 of these people were standing together, he was unable to figure out that the woman claiming to be a party of 4 was with the other 3 people....duh. So, he walks away with them and seats them....instead of turning around and coming back to us, he walked back near the bar and disappeared into the kitchen. A server came over to the host stand, looked at us and walked away without asking if we were being helped...or anything else. We walked out. Simply put, my experience was less than ok at the most. Greeter was not rude but he wasn't friendly and inviting. Waitress was energetic but seemed incompetent. We ordered a hamburger and her response was, "pink or no pink." I had never heard that term before but because I like my meats well-done I said no pink. My mother asked for an explanation and the waitress said, "pink means pink and no pink means no pink". What the hell kind of explanation is that!?! My mother looked confused so I said it means well-done or medium-rare. (At least that what I think it means.) She ordered no pink but afterwards told me she normally gets medium-rare but with the explanation the waitress gave pink could've meant raw so she played it safe. Food took at least 25 minutes to arrive. And not just us but other tables. One lady at another table asked her appetizer because it was taking forever and the waitress said the kitchen staff was slow. I could see another table had a major issue that required the manager. Apparently what was ordered and what was received were 2 different things. My mother asked about the food and to our surprise once she asked, then it came out. Food was closer to room temperature than hot. And to add to this, the restaurant was drafty. Not air conditioned, not heated, but drafty. My mother pulled her scarf up around her. I was underdressed and therefore kinda miserable. I hate drafts. I don't know if Applebee's changed or if it's just this location but I could've gone elsewhere for a much better experience. read more

My dad loves Applebee's. Like seriously loves Applebees. Especially this one. So this review is probably going to break his poor Applebee's loving heart. Sorry, pops. Applebee's bores me. Really and truly. Their drinks are mediocre--I sent back a "platinum" strawberry margarita--which tasted horrible and *nothing* like a strawberry margarita--and opted for a white peach sangria. The sangria wasn't bad except for the fact that it tasted nothing like white peach or sangria. After that I stuck with water. The water, I am happy to report, tasted like water. As far as the food, I'm hugely short on options when it come to dining at Applebee's. I'm a vegetarian. Yeah, so I know not every place has veggie options, but at *most* other places I can find something that works without having to resort to salad (except TGI Fridays, but that's another review). Don't get me wrong, I like salads, I just don't want a salad every. single. time I venture out for dinner. Checked the burger section, no veggie burger alternative. Really, Applebee's? No veggie burger? And no, a turkey burger *is not* the same. I asked if I could get fajitas without any meat--just the veggies and tortillas. Seems easy enough but, alas, there is no way to enter that in their computer system so it was a no go. Cheese quesadillas hold the bacon bits? Unfortunately, came out with bacon bits still inside. What's a stubborn vegetarian to do? I ended up with a plain grilled cheese and called it a night. The saving grace for this experience? Our server. She was awesome and tried exceedingly hard to make this whole debacle work. She is the only reason this review is two stars. Feelin' good in the neighborhood? Notsomuch. Attended with 3 friends today. From the second we sat down, our server Tanya did not even greet us. She was irritable and unpleasant from the second we came in. According to my friends, who are regulars, this is a common occurrence with that server. I pointed to a margarita i wanted, it was a $3 margarita. She confirmed the price. She charged me $7.50 and refused to refund me. She disappeared for large amounts of time and when she finally came back to address my price concern she smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke I could have choked. We went here on Christmas Eve and had our phone stolen by the waitress. We immediately used find my IPhone and someone kept answering ping. We called but the waitress that waited on our table told us no one found the phone. So we went back to the restaurant to retrieve the phone even though the manager told us she heard the pinging. She told me that she just started and really didn't know what procedure to follow but she would have her general manager call us this morning. Well he called and was rude as the hourly employees we dealt with. He immediately began to defend them and threatened to hang up on us if we didn't let him finish. If you care about your possessions, safety, and hard earned money. Steer clear of this poorly ran establishment. I failed to mention they had to comp half of our meal due to the excessive waiting period we endured. This place is trash to say it simply and management / staff should be completely replaced. Was extremely dissatisfied !!! Went there with my mom bestfriend god daughter and my two kids after the boat parade.. The watress was nice and the kids meals came out pretty quick.
