No Idea how this restaurant isn't rated higher. We dined there this evening and the service was Great. Our waitress, Abby, couldn't have been better, very familiar with the menu and created a relaxed visit. The food: we ordered a Classic burger, was cooked perfect, the Bartender made the drinks great. We stopped at the Applebee's in Fort Payne expecting a simple lunch, and the service was just flat-out disappointing. When we walked in, there was no hostess at the front. We ended up seating ourselves, and even after I went to the bathroom and came back, still no one had greeted us, offered a drink, or even said, "Someone will be right with you." What made it worse was that there were two employees in the back folding silverware, but neither one seemed interested in helping. We were basically told the waitress was "in the bathroom," and that was it. No effort, no urgency, no customer service at all. We even had to grab our own menus. If business is slow, you would think staff would be even more motivated to take care of the people who do come in. Instead, it felt like nobody cared whether we stayed or left. That kind of attitude is probably part of the reason the place is slow to begin with. We left and went elsewhere for lunch. Would not recommend based on this experience. April 20, 2:36 PM. We LOVE Applebees. Their food is delicious, the servers are always friendly, and our food is always out quick. We love the appetizers especially. Anna is our favorite server, she always provides excellent service! This has become a regular place for weekend dinners with family for us. All the food is delicious and their desserts are the best. read more

It's Applebees. Nothing special. I stopped in during a quick stopover in Ft. Payne. I was by myself, so I ate at the bar. It was sticky, and so was the floor. The bartender was nice, and the service was good. The food came out cold, but so did the beer, so I didn't complain. Had a lunch here today. There were hardly any cars in the parking lot at 1:00 which should've tipped me off, or at least cause my brain to ask questions. There weren't many people in the restaurant and the hostess had little to know personality. I don't expect Vanna White, but act like you're happy we're there. We got seated and our server came to us promptly and was cheerful. She got our drinks to us quickly and we ordered our food. It was so incredibly dull in this place. There were a lot of tvs playing reruns of old football games? I didn't get that. Atlanta Braves were playing the New York Mets and not one of the 10 televisions had the game on. Ok. My fiancé and I ordered salads and they came out pretty fast. Her caesar salad had half a bottle of dressing on it and my house salad had a quarter inch of water in the bottom of it. We ordered our food and it did come out pretty quickly. Everyone said the food looked good and it was hot. The food was pretty good, about what I've always come to expect from Applebees. I went to the men's room after we ate and it was fairly nasty. They have a half wall length urinal that if you happen to be unfortunate enough to pee in will splash urine all over you and your shoes. Disgusting. I refused and waited until we got to where we were going. There was trash on the floor and what appeared to be cracks in the wall with paint missing. It was dirty. We paid our bill and as we left I noticed the health department score on the wall in the lobby, and it told me why there were no cars in the parking lot. I included a picture of it in my review. We went to eat at this location on November 9,2025 , there was 14 of us. We got there and was told they would set up a section for our group. In the time we were waiting they sat several people ahead of us. The hostess insisted on us waiting to be sat in a certain section that had us waiting for folks to finish their meals. And there was a whole section with dirty tables that could have been cleaned up and have us seated right away . Over an hour, waiting to be seated. (RIDICULOUS) The problem with this is that several times we could have been seated in a section large enough for us. But the Hostess placed others in the middle of the sections and took up the area. Then our waitress said she was taking drink orders and instead took half the tables appetizer orders and turned them in so which left half of us watching the others eat. We got there at 1:30 and did not get to eat until after 3 and it was not that busy to have been this way. The food was fine, but the service needs serious help. ( Just for record I have worked in food service most of my life and this was unacceptable for any restaurant.) read more

We typically don't visit Applebee's due to poor service and mediocre food. However, we decided to give it a try tonight because we were ok with just your basic bar food. Our waitress, Miranda, was phenomenal! She was very attentive and prompt with our entire experience. Our food was hot and just as expected. Went to your Rome location on 1.23 for my birthday. Arrived at 7:15pm. Sat for 20 minutes after being seated with nothing. When we caught a server passing by, she was rude and asked if we wanted water or something. I said I would like a cocktail, its my birthday. She sighed and said she would be back. After 32 minutes with 0 service, we got up to leave. She then walked over and said, "I hope you have a good birthday, it sucks working here." I think this just might be the worst (lack there of) service ever. They were not busy and during our 30 min wait we were also accosted by a homeless man that harassed every table in the venue for money and no one said a word to him. It was just awful. Haven't been to an Applebees in quite awhile. Because the wait time was so long at another nearby restaurant, we stopped at Applebees instead. First and foremost our server Angie was top notch from start to finish. Very impressive to say the least. For an appetizer we ordered an Asian chicken salad to share between my hubby and I. Wow!! I will go back for that as often as possible. Our Dinners were cooked perfectly and absolutely delish! I had the honey bbq ribs, hubby had the Ribeye. We ate here after arriving at the hotel tonight. Arrived at 7pm and was seated promptly. Service took a while to be greeted. Food was decent but fries in my bed of chicken and rice. Rice portion was shallow and not hot. Ketchup bottle was empty and I got up to replace from another table, and after three attempts I finally asked a server and she told me to check other tables for ketchup!! Wow!!! Ordered curbside pickup on 8/9/22 for dinner cause I'm sick with a bad infection, when I got there waited approx. 55 minutes for my order( 1/2 rack ribs/green beans/mashed potatoes and French onion soup), some kind of mixup with order for me and women parked next to me that had waited even longer. Finally got home with order, no green beans and French onion soup like I've never seen(bottom of hamburger bun covered with melted cheese next to small bowl of broth. Worst Applebees I've ever been too. Seems to not be as fun a work environment as it says all around the store. I got the fiesta lime chicken( as recommended by the server as the best dish there ) and it was HORRIBLE chicken came out under done and the cheese barely melted. We eat here a about once every week and we have always had good food and good service. The hostesses however get angry when you prefer to sit in a section they don't chose for you. This has happened twice to us and besides the section we wanted was already open. Grow up hostesses! We have since stopped going to the Fort Payne Applebee's because the last few times we were there our orders were messed up and they totally forgot about us. Very disappointed in our experience. Me and my boyfriend were in town for a few days and decided to try Applebee's out. It took over an hour for our appetizer which was just chips and sauces to dip in. And it took another 15-20 minutes for our food. No refills. No check ups by our waitress. The waitress came to us and said they were short staffed, but according to the 3 girls at the hostess station playing on their phones and talking the whole time... we were under a different impression. Tried to tell the waitress that we were unsatisfied but she took our card without any communication so we didn't have the opportunity to do so. While we were leaving one of the three girls doing nothing at the front was laying down on the bench playing on her phone. What a waste of time and money. My husband and I went here back in March for our anniversary. First thing I noticed was how small this Applebee's is compared to the others I have been to. The hostess was nice enough however we were seated at this high bench like table close to the bar. The light over the table had no light cover and we could feel the heat on our heads, also the light was so close and bright we could not even look up without being blinded. We asked to be moved and were to a table across the room (not very far) still right next to the bar. The people at the bar were so loud we could not hear each other talk. It took the waitress forever to get our drinks (2 teas) I thought she had forgotten about us. We also waited over 45 minutes to get our food. The food was good however I had ordered a steak cooked well done and it was medium well. At that point we gave up ate our food and left. Overall it was not a very good anniversary dinner.
