My fiancé and I were on our way back from dropping our girls off at college and our truck broke down in Fergus Falls. We booked a hotel and walked to Applebee's right next door. The server Janis was the sweetest pea ever. After explaining our situation, she gave us her number and told us if we needed a ride anywhere she would help out. This young lady was a stranger and had no obligation to help us. The next day, because we were stranded, we returned for lunch and the staff was again amazing and kind. Our server Jenna was incredible at this Applebees location! We were traveling on a tour bus and only had an hour to stop. We asked for to go containers and checks before the food came and she was so accommodating! I usually love Applebee's. Which is why i suggested to our team to go there after our game... we were seated and our "hound dog" server came to greet us. He first started off by telling us what they dont have. We made a couple light hearted comments about what they didnt have... but thats where it took a dark turn. Pepe le pew (our server) proceeded to make several unwelcome sexually charged comments towards me. I refrained from commenting because i didnt feel like eating spit on my shrimp. After throwing up and showering 3 times, i am finally able to write this review. I dont mind a little back and forth, but when my kids are around, sexual comments need to be kept to themselves. I made this Yelp account specifically to make this review because I am so upset! I love coming to this location (not just because it's the only one around haha!). But the servers are always sweet, and throughout the pandemic things have been taken care of smoothly. One of the male managers (can't remember his name) is always nice! Last time we visited, however, was not the case. The manager Emily was not only rude, but I watched her roll her eyes when she turned and thought no one could see her!! Then I saw her standing around talking with one of the servers while we had been waiting for her to come back. Ridiculous. So obviously fake. Never had a manager of a restaurant act this way before. The food was standard Applebee's fare. Good, fast, what was expected. We were traveling during some snow and icy roads and taking a break from the road. Amanda was our waitress and she did a fantastic job. There were 25 people in a single party waiting to be seated, and the staff handled it all very well. 2 hours after leaving, I realized I had left my cell phone on the table. Called the restaurant and talked with Amanda and she and the manager said they would gladly mail my phone to me so I would not have to return in the bad weather. Always good, very rare do we have a problem, if your lucky you'll get one of the 2 best waitresses I've come across, either Nikki or Sarah, they really make the place feel comfortable and wanting to come back. I always order the bourbon street chicken, no onions ever, no one should eat onions yuck, anyway it's always good. We stopped by here, a lit bit leery after reading reviews on Yelp, on a Tuesday evening. Place was packed. We had a good fifteen minute wait before we were seated. It is a small town Applebee's and it was their "kids eat for 99 cents" special day. Staff was very courteous and friendly. We hadn't been to an Applebee's in over 5 years, and the menu certainly has changed. We had the pasta and the fiesta chicken, along with the artichoke spinach dip as an appetizer. Not bad - 3 stars. Service was prompt and wait times, even with restaurant being packed, was pretty good. And as stated before, staff gets 5 stars. Overall a 4 stars. read more

We went to the Fergus Falls, Mn location on 8-9-2019. The food was very good. The service was awful. 6 people in our party. 3 orders were messed up, plus one of these didn't get their salad until main entrée arrived and we reminded them of it. One person requested a different cheese on burger then came on menu. Got one that came on menu. A different person wanted a sauce on the side, arrived in the food. The third requested their meat very well done, it came medium, to red for their taste. Soda/Coffee, a couple of us had to hold our glasses up in the air to get any refills. Stopped there on a Saturday evening, there was wrestling and other big events in town so the town was BUSY. Quite a number of people waiting in the foyer and a confused but polite young man told me "30 minutes." I looked around the place and could see 10-15 open tables. It appeared that they were too understaffed to get the tables clean and turn them around. People were walking out. Like some others We ended up @ another similar place in town that was even BUSIER but had the people to turn the tables around, got seated and fed. Told the waitress of our experience and she opined that the problem at the Applebees was low pay and management that drove off staff. Went in to Applebee's to watch the Cowboys football game and the bartender at the bar says he can't change 1 of the 7-10 TV's bc the Vikings game is on. You are considered a sports bar/bar and grill and you can't change one of the TV's in the entire bar. This is the only establishment in town that has the tv package that would allow customers to watch their favorite team and they won't let you watch it because the MN team is on. I cheer for the Vikings all the time but I would also like the option to watch my favorite team I grew up watching. Fergus Falls has better restaurants, and I'd highly suggest making your way there. A co-worker and I were looking for a place to grab dinner and a beer that was close to our hotel. The hostess offered us a seat at the bar. We asked for a table instead as another person was going to be joining us a bit later. Despite being able to see about half a dozen empty tables from the entry, the rolled her eyes, sighed, and said she'd "trrrry to find us one." After she did her round around the restaurant, the "suuuuuposed" she could go clear off a table for us. Once we were done inconveniencing her, we waited probably 10 minutes for a server to take our drink orders. The beers came quickly, but a glass of water didn't come until the third request, once we were nearly done with our meals. I'm not actually sure you should call this a "meal" though. I've had better elementary school lunches. Though the side of spinach stuffed mushroom cap and potatoes were decent, this Applebee's wins the award of delivering one of the worst steaks I've had. The seasoning was good, but the meat itself was very tough and fatty. I'd maybe go again if convenience was a major factor and my expectations for service were taking a digger, but would probably stick to appetizers...it seems tougher to mess them up. Went into bar area and was seated by the host. We ordered a beer from the waitress. She left the area and the bartender poured our beers and they sat at the waitress station for about 3-4 minutes. The bartender walked away from the bar also and neither of them was around to be seen. There was about 10 people total in the restaurant. On top of it all, another Applebees worker was sitting behind us eating. You would think that out of the 4 people there, including the host could deliver our beers. We walked out while the beers sat at the waitress station and no one else could be found. What a shame! We used to enjoy coming here on Saturday afternoons with friends for Happy Hour. Not any more! I dine here about 6-7 times per summer when I visit the lakes area. I think they have always done a good job. The one time I had a problem, the manager not only replaced my food immediately, she gave a $10 discount for the trouble. Not sure what else I could ask for. But they should have served Pepto Bismal on the side, first $18 steak had a streak of gristle through it that a Mama Eskimo couldn't have softened by chewing in a month. Come to think of it a whole team of sled dogs couldn't have chewed it up. The replacement had been so long in whatever sick marinade they use on very cheap cuts that it probably had a shelf like longer than Chernobyl will be setting off Geiger counters. I was sick before I got the bill, and woke up this morning with some serious stomach problems. And to think I know of a place where for the same money I could have gotten real food. Steak that isn't marinated. I mean who does that to beef? Maybe venison, maybe. I think that was some damn kangaroo from down under. The Bloody Mary I had was very sub-standard. My husband and I love going here. We usually order off the 2 for $20 or 2 for $25 menu. We have always had friendly service no matter what day of the week it is. The portions of the food are great. Worse Applebee's ever! We often eat at Applebee's in many different locations. We never have any problems until this location, the hostess was super slow, when host finally talk to us, she was thinking for like 5 minutes to decide where our seats will be. We had been waiting for our waitress to come to our table for a while. When she finally came to our table, she didn't talk about special deals or drinks. Once we ordered food, she had someone else bring our food which is usually not a problem unless you don't plan to ever see your waitress again! It wasn't busy in the restaurant. After that she never came to our table to check to see how our meals were or if we needed a refill on our drinks. I had to tap on cup for her to hear and see that we need the refill. She gave me the attitude when I ask for refill and didn't take our dirty plates away after she fill our refill. We waited for our bill for a while. She finally noticed that we are done with food. She gave us bill. We wait for her take our money. She finally came to our table. We asked for discount because we been waiting so long time and host told us that if server didn't mention about special deal so we get $5 discount. She just left (she was rolling her eye again) when she came back. We required the manager, she came but she is an asshole! I am deaf person and I can see that she had bad attitude and they didn't give us discount at all therefore we decide that we won't come back to this location. We feel server don't deserve any tips but we did give her 15% tip anyway. Of course, we will still go to Applebee's in different locations.
