We've been here several times and we've done the take out option and eating in. The food has always been great no matter which option we've used. However the last couple times we've sat down to eat the experience has been less than stellar. The last visit our waitress was great but we got seated next to a family with 3 kids who were obviously not used to listening or behaving and it really affected the mood. This visit the issue was the waitress. It began with a 15 minute wait, no big deal cuz we checked out the menu and knew what we were getting, got to chit-chat with others waiting and the time zipped by. Once seated the waitress asked for our drink order and if we needed time to look over the menu, we said no we knew what we wanted cuz we looked at the menu while we waited. Here she said something about being short staffed which is why we had the wait. I've waitresses before and when you're short handed you take care of your customers and then bus your tables and get everything ready for the next customers. Hectic but not impossible and the more customers you get the better money you can bring home in tips (imo) I had water to drink, the nachos for appetizer and then the Buffalo chicken with fries and coleslaw. Blue cheese dipping sauce and a side of mayo (fries) Eric had a root beer, pretzels and cheese appetizer and the fish waffle fries and coleslaw. Our drinks arrived immediately and within a few minutes the appetizers arrived. We began eating and everything was scrumptious. Out comes our meals from a server and we're told our waitress will be by in a few to check on us. During my years waitressing I always tried to make sure my customers always had a drink and always had extra napkins, especially with messier food. I was given 2 identical cups of whitish dressing. I asked for blue cheese with the wings but was given blue cheese and ranch and had to taste to figure out which was the blue cheese. The only napkins we had were the ones our silverware were wrapped in. Eventually we saw a waiter and asked for more blue cheese, the side of mayo and napkins and poof had them immediately. Idk about anyone else but when I'm eating Buffalo chicken I like to take a drink every few bites and once my water was gone I would have liked more so I could continue eating. Eric joked that we were going to have to walk our meal off cuz it was so good he couldn't stop eating and he ate all the pretzels and cheese and his whole meal. I had 1/4 of the nachos and maybe 4 pieces of the Buffalo chicken when my water was gone and I sat waiting for our waitress. By the time she showed Eric asked her for more water and she said right away lol I wish, about 5 minutes later I see her coming around the corner and that's when she remembered the water and actually went to get it this time. By the time I got it I was ready to go and Eric had long since finished his food. We got boxes and asked for the check Since I wasn't eating I had time to watch what was going on around our section of the restaurant. The waitstaff was dealing with their customers and clearing their tables and the hostess was wiping down the tables and seating customers. Our waitress had 2 tables, the waiter had 4 tables (our side of the restaurant) and sadly the waiter was hustling, he was frequently at his tables checking on his customers, clearing tables, took care of us while our waitress was missing. She didn't clean any tables, or even serve us our food so besides taking our order I'm not sure what she was doing. Her tables that left as we were seated were cleaned by the hostess. She just wasn't interested in working so I fully understood the comments when we arrived about being short handed, there wasn't enough staff to do her job for her. Needless to say the next time we dine in we will make sure she's not the waitress we get. Thank god the foods delicious and we left with almost all my meal and appetizer and we ate that today and still have more Buffalo chicken left over read more

Happy dinner here last nite, a quick bite after shopping at Walmart nearby got in about five minutes of nine... waitress was great. Had us wait five minutes to water. All apps were half off starting at 9 PM which was nice. Ordered the boneless chicken with the Asian Thai sauce. They were delicious. Also had an appetizer order of chicken quesadillas which were pretty much no chicken, but I was starving and ate them. Empty restaurant. Forced to wait 15 minutes on an uncomfortable bench with elderly parent at entrance for no reason rather than be seated. Then we were seated at one of the empty tables right next to where we waited. The very same tables we were told we absolutely could NOT sit and wait at. It was all so asinine. Miserable hostess annoying customers for no reason. She is a Yelp elite and has had my review removed several times. BTW- Food was lousy. What can I say - its Applebee's. Not my first choice for dining but it was ok! I met a colleague there since it was convenient for us (right off exit 32 on 95). It was afternoon so the appetizers were half price. Cool! We sat at a booth in the bar area and our server, Amy, was fabulous! There were several patrons in the bar area and she was greeting everyone who came in . Very cheerful and on top of things! Our apps came out super fast - mozzarella sticks and wings. Unbelievable experience at the bees, originally put in an order for boneless wings and our server (ray) comes back to the table and offers us a chance to get the all you can eat for only 2 dollars more which allowed us to order a couple more orders. I'm not much of a fan of chain restaurants but Applebee's in Biddo is A-OK. I went last night with my 81 year old mom & we sat at the bar :) It was a 20 minute wait otherwise so we bellied up & had a lovely time. I ordered the Chicken Wonton Tacos. I'd never heard of this before so I was not sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. They were pretty small but there are 4 in a serving, so it was perfect. Full of crunch & flavor, the sauce is also excellent. Mom got the Strawberry Balsamic Chicken Salad & enjoyed it. She also got the Sizzlin Caramel Apple Blondie dessert, which was wonderful. Just walked in, on a Labor Day weekend, Sunday evening, in a nearly empty restaurant and was told there was a 20 minute wait because they had only two waitresses (Here's a thought, maybe they should have given the hostess with too much time on her hands an apron and an ordering pad to help her beleaguered serving staff.) Another example of where a corporate entity apparently is not willing to pay their workers a wage worth working there for! Went to Biddeford Applebee's Friday night at 7pm. Seated quickly and waitress took our order quickly, after that all went downhill. Appetizer took almost 45 minutes to get, and they were Lukewarm, dinner took over 1 hour before being served. Of the 3 plates my wife's pasta was cold, my riblet platter was cold and only had 2 small riblet strips, and my sons Hamberg which was ordered cooked medium was way overcooked. In addition, his Hamberger was on a naked plate, there were no fry's, and my plate was missing coleslaw. When the waitress asked the manager to visit our table he went running and refused to talk to us, instead he told her "I'll take $10.00 off their bill" and dashed into the kitchen. This is very poor management. We don't care about the $10.00, we just wanted to express our disappointment. He won't listen, but someone will. read more

I have always loved the consistency of Applebees when I traveled the country, however, the last two visits to this location left me sad but hopeful for improvement. I maybe have one drink a month and was asked twice for salt or sugar on my margarita, both times I said salt - it came with neither. Not a big deal. Queso and chips is a weakness of mine, but this queso was room temperature. It tasted good though although I took a risk by eating it (I was quite hungry). Quesadilla burger medium well came with the middle quite raw. I sent it back and asked for it to be microwaved, which I believe they did. These rooms for improvement do not compare to what our out of town family members endured. All three received their food AFTER we were done eating. I wish I could caveat this post by saying they were super busy but it was well staffed and with about 1/3 of the tables occupied with no customers waiting. I am hopeful that some quality control in this American staple becomes present soon as I'd hate for it to see its doors closed like the Dennys in Biddeford and Portland. Fingers crossed and I'll try Applebees in Biddeford again soon. read more

My fiancé and I only come to Maine once a year and last year we came to this Applebees and had a good time, so we decided to come again and we had the same server we had a year ago! After wondering what to say, I realized that I can explain this in four simple words. They have free wifi.

Came here for a work gathering. I came with low expectations and still left disappointed. We came in a big group of people coming and going at different times. I try to be patient because I know it's not easy to wait on this kind of table, but it's really hard to be patient sometimes. I finished my drink halfway through my meal and I never got offered a refill. I would've asked for one but when the waitress came by she was dealing with others from the group coming and going. Once she got an order or a ticket she quickly left. So I just sucked it up and remained thirsty. Also the food wasn't very good. I had one of the pastas and found it to be very bland. I was really disappointed in the food and service here. Yeah I'm not going back. I'll just skip the work gathering next time. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. We stopped there Friday, September 1 at approximately 10:15 pm. Three out of four meals tasted as though they had been prepared hours, if not days before and partially reheated several times before being foisted onto us unsuspecting victims. Great service, came in late to take advantage of their app special. My brother in law joined and ended up getting the sirloin ordered medium. It ended up coming out pretty much rare. The manager did come over and fix the issue. Our waited Doug was great and was very efficient at his job. If it wasn't for him rating would be much lower. read more

Not a bad place to go, food is usual bar food but the drinks are my favorite here. The prices are very reasonable and the list of specialty drinks are amazing. They do a lot of fundraising for the local community here. I have been apart of doing pancake breakfasts a few times. Its great they help out the local schools like that!! read more

I took my boyfriend and his siblings out to Applebee's as a holiday treat this past week. I must say, for what I heard to be a great restaurant, this place was only average at best. When we arrived, we had a nice booth, which was pleasant. Everyone was very hungry since we had spent three hours at a nail salon that had been a seemingly endless trip. To satisfy our hunger, I decided that I would order mozarella sticks as an appetizer for the kids. You would think that appetizers typically get to the table faster than the entrees do. Unfortunately, we waited forever only for the waitress to come back and tell us that the frying machine was broken and getting fixed. Therefore, our appetizers would come at approximately the same time as our meal. I then made the decision to cancel the order on mozarella sticks because they would be of no use to us if they came at the same time as our actual food. The waitress nodded and seemed to understand my request. BUT, a few minutes later, SHE BROUGHT OUT THE MOZARELLA STICKS. Did I not just cancel that order? Sure enough, about two minutes afterward, our entrees came. I didn't want to express my frustration in front of the kids, but I was livid. The waitress then brought out our entrees after we had speedily ate the mozarella sticks to clear the table for the main course. Everyone got what they ordered, which was nice. However, when my chicken parmesan stack was placed in front of me, THERE WAS NO CHICKEN. The heck? She then informed me that the chicken would be a few more minutes. I was pissed, but again, I had to reign in my anger in front of the others. I just settled for calmly trying to eat my breadstick and my pasta was pretty much a third of the way through before I actually got my chicken. We had ordered drinks as well. Funny thing is, when the waitress was cleaning up our glasses, she was such a klutz that she spilled leftover liquid on one of my guests. She did apologize profusely, but in my mind, I attributed this incident and the two prior ones to horrible service. Where do I begin? Hostess was overwhelmed and sat us with basically everyone waiting in one guys (Jon). We felt bad for him!! He was running around trying to greet everyone while delivering drinks and food. Listening and watching other tables there seemed to be a lot of complaints about food, either underdone or overdone. Went there for lunch. Waited over 10mins in the lobby area waiting for someone to greet us and seat us. There was no one else waiting for a table. Finally got a table, the waitress was pleasant even though it took her about 5 mins to ask what we'd like for drinks. Again, it was not busy by any means! When we got our food, my steak was so overly cooked and dry i choked trying to swallow a bite with it loaded with steak sauce on it!!! The fries were so salty I thought they were 10%less than a lethal dose! I don't think that my dog would have even eaten the "steak" that I got. I order my steaks medium. This was well over very well-done. When I showed the waitress, she got the manager and he took the cost of the steak off the bill which was nice. However, due to the fact that the past few times we have gone they have messed up or over cooked our food, I don't think I'll pay to eat there again and if I do go with friends who pay for me, I won't get the beef jerky they call steak again. We had lunch there today. The manager greeted us at the door, in fact he seated us, and told us who our waitress would be. Our waitress her name Sue G. was great. My friend ordered the bourbon steak, with mushrooms. It was tender enough to cut it with her fork and cooked as requested, the pan sizzling when it was delivered. My order was the chicken finger basket, both meals were wonderful. The place was very clean and comfortable. Half way through out meal, the manager came by and asked how everything was, he was very personable. Our waitress, very attentive, but not annoyingly attentive.
