I first walked in last Friday thinking that possibly they would be able to do a walk-in, but they don't do that. So I looked over their glasses selection found a pair I liked and then put in my information and got an appointment scheduled. Today when I walked in, everything was easy and went very well. I'm a type two diabetic and they were able to help check me for eye issues for that. I think the whole situation probably only took about 45 minutes. The only thing I can say bad about them is that the intake form that I filled out online wasn't necessarily working well when it came to taking my insurance card. But other than that, the staff was wonderful and the whole overall look of the office was nice and immaculate. read more

A coworker recommended this place to me last year after I complained about going to Target Optical and not having a wide selection of glasses. She was very insistent that I would like this place so when it was time for my annual checkup I made an appointment with Apple Valley Eye Care. I was able to fill out the initial paperwork online which was helpful because I never tend to arrive as early as suggested for new patients. Immediately, I was impressed with the layout of the office. It was one of the nicest facilities I have ever experienced. I also felt that that the eye check up was very thorough compared to others I have had in the past. And even though my vision is 20/15, I always feel like I should be viewing things more boldly. Dr. Haverly was a hoot to work with; very professional yet personable. She made the annual eye exam fun and informational. Robin helped me pick out my glasses and she was very understanding when I said that I wanted to stay within the limits of what my Insurance plan was covering. Again, it makes no sense for me to splurge on glasses when I really don't need to rely on them. Even when I found a cheap pair that I thought were fashionable, she was able to give me the candid feedback that it didn't fit my face. This is much appreciated in a state that prides themselves on being Minnesota nice and hence not able to give constructive criticism. I digress. I really wish there was a way to be able to get the glasses on the same day. Now that I have picked them out, I am excited to rock my new frames. I want to say this is the first time buying glasses here for both my wife and I. I had just went to get a haircut, after leaving the barbershop I went to get in my car and thought I need to brush out my hair with my hands, often times they don't blow the loose hairs off your head good enough. I opened my car door and put my glasses on the seat thinking I will remember to pick them up before I sit down, well I didn't & when I heard a crunching noise I immediately knew what I had done. My fault totally and I figured I would have to fork out the money to fix them, what ever it cost me. I went back to Apple Valley Eye Care and they were very understanding, and I found out they were still under warranty, the personnel I dealt with were very pleasant and willing to help. They are very thorough. Was excited for my 2 new pair of glasses that I purchased for approx $800. At the same time I asked about putting my prescription lenses in my brand new Oakley's. Only to be charged almost $400 just for the lenses. It kind of ruined the good experience I had up until that point. So pairs of glasses and a extra set of lenses in my existing glasses are $1200. A bit disappointed that they were not even willing to discount the 3rd lenses since I had purchased 2 pairs of glasses from them at the same time. read more

I went here for my first eye exam. It's been over 40 years, and I've never had anything more extensive than the eye check at the DMV. The facility is clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and thorough. They guided me through tests and exams with great patience and a bit of humor. I was impressed with just how thorough my entire exam was, and it appears as if this is a very well equipped and modern operation. I'll return. read more

The VA referred me to see Dr. Patrick Wellick here. After a few weeks of their receiving the referral (the VA confirmed to me when they had received it), they had not called me. So I reached out to them and "Michelle" (I think she said - her voice was very low when she said her name) answered. She informed me that they are not honoring VA referrals and they had told this to the VA just last week, so basically why am I calling them. She said that I would have to get back with the VA to see someone else. I then reached out to the VA Community Care office, and the VA agent was very upset with them as AV Eye Care had reportedly contacted the VA recently asking for my referral information (this was unbeknownst to me when I had talked to AV Eye Care). Long Story Short: The AV Eye Care receptionist was rude to me over the phone (her attitude came across as rude and annoyed with me and the VA) and they'll all take care of people on Medicare and social assistance of all types, I'm sure, but not military veterans. Well, they don't deserve the freedoms and privileges they enjoy if you ask me. read more

Incompetent and overpriced l!! I bought a pair of glasses, nike brand, and even though 95% of it is plastic the metal finish rubs off within 5 months. At 3 months you notice small patches of the dark blue frames rubbed off. The first time I went in there to trade in the frames it took them 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the lenses into the new frames and they tried to get me to agree to file and grind down the lenses which is retarded!! The next time I only had to wait 48 minutes for them to do the same thing because it has happened twice and they again tried to get me to agree to destroy the lenses by grinding them down. It really pisses me off that I have a defective pair of glasses and they are refusing to replace them again if the frames get messed up again. The sad part is that I don't do manual labor or anything that would cause that much wear and tear on them so it is clearly a defective product and they are still selling it when I was there today!!! Before this pair of glasses they messed up the anti glare on the actual lenses and tried to act like it wasn't there. I had to call in a guy from the contacts lenses and said look at this and he noticed it right away and then she was forced to order more. That happened 3-4 times and they gave me a free pair of glasses but dealing with them and having them not take responsibility is outrageous. Every pair of glasses I have gotten there have had a botched up coating on the lenses or the frames are defective even tho they keep selling them. I would go across the street to walmart and get a set of glasses for much much cheaper and the same exact quality. I will never return to this place as long as I live. read more

I have been going to Apple Valley I care for over 20 years now. I have always been able to easily schedule my appointment to work with my busy schedule and get into see the doctor that I prefer. Dr. Wellik is so friendly yet very efficient and thorough. The staff is very knowledgeable on all of the products that they sell, as well as will offer advice and help when picking out frames. These ladies have been doing this for years and have a great eye for what works well with your shape of face and style. They also are very knowledgeable regarding insurance and basically do all the work for you so you don't have to worry about processing the insurance claims. I have gone in multiple times to have eyeglasses adjusted or tweak my contacts when having issues. For contact fittings, they work with you until they are perfect. I went through four sets of samples of different manufacturers and never once did they get frustrated that I needed to make sure that these were the right contact for me. The facility is extremely clean and I would never hesitate to recommend anyone to go to Apple Valley Eye Care for your vision needs. read more
