I have come to conclude that the folks at 10K, especially Kelly S., have zero interest in preserving good relationships with their tenants, and have come to own our two building complex for the sole purpose of collecting our rents. They are completely unresponsive to tenant concerns or inquiries; they use their own failures and disorganization to justify extreme actions taken against their tenants; and they fail to communicate even the most basic of information regarding things like an upcoming routine inspection, making the tenants' failure to anticipate such an inspection into a big drama to hide the fact that even the most basic communication can avoid most misunderstandings. I had thought no management company could be worse than when I rented from Housing Hub. But 10K is really trying to take home the title of worst landlord with whom this renter has ever had the displeasure of entering into a lease agreement.

He is the definition of a slumlord, has threaten to kick me out multiple times without warning due to no fault of my own, only to change his mind at the last second. (Continuous emotional distress) During my time there he was the least accommodating slumlord I've ever witnessed, never followed up on repairs, when construction was being done he wouldn't provide you warning when people would be entering and even when they did show up they never did what I had requested. Ex, fix the heat during the winter or loud construction during working hours. He even raised rent on me for no reason while I was renting from him while I always paid on time and never missed a month. After the 3rd time he threatened to kick me out-he asked if I would like to stay and continue to rent of which I refused and left. After finally feeling relieved and free from his abusive grasp, tax time came around. I asked for copies of my CRP (certificate of rent paid) of which he requested $25 per copy, of which is highly illegal and I had to address my lawyer of which they confirmed what he is doing is highly illegal! DO NOT RENT OR BUY FROM THIS SLUMLORD! He is by far one of the worst examples of what it is to be a quality landlord, not to mention quality human. STAY FAR AWAY! After requesting my CRPs for the final time his last response to me was: "were done here"

He has a vast knowledge of "house internals" and can spot areas of concern even if there isn't an obvious issue. He understands how the market works, and knows how to play within it. He doesn't over- or under-sell, but also does provide whatever input and opinions you need when trying to decide about making offers. In our case we decided to rent instead of buy, and he helped us find our current rental home. As the manager of our rental, he is beyond amazing. His average response time to any questions or issues is probably about 3-5 minutes, and if there is ever anything which requires maintenance he stays on top of the issue even past the time when it gets fixed... and makes sure it does get fixed in a timely manner. He is also able to come up with creative solutions to issues when they become especially sticky. He is helpful, courteous, professional, and sensitive... and obviously cares about the well-being of his tenants. All in all, we would recommend Brian to anyone who has any situation involving real estate or rental properties!

We used Bjorklund Realty when we purchased our first home this year and were very pleased with our experience. More specifically, we worked with Doug Olson, who may also double as a saint because he was so patient with us. As first-time home buyers, we had tons of questions, which Doug answered patiently. He answered them in person, on the phone and by email, at all hours of the day and seven days a week. He also worked with us to find the right house, even though we can be picky bastards. We looked at almost three dozen houses with Doug before we found the right one, but he never seemed impatient with us, nor did we feel pressure to make an offer on a home we didn't love. Like most first-time homeowners, I think our ideas about what the perfect house looked like changed as we shopped, but we never once felt like our waffling was unusual or unwelcomed. Doug gave us tons of his time driving all over the metro and also helped advise us, pointing out things he saw and things that seemed important to draw to our attention based on his years of experience looking at homes. He did this without complaint, even though we were looking in January and February and it was cold as balls out. He listened to our feedback and used it to narrow the homes he showed us going forward. He got better and picking homes we'd like over time. Once we thought we were ready to make an offer, he was there to guide us through the process, advise us on what we might want to do and to of course act as the liaison for us with the sellers. I can't stress that enough. Since we'd never done it before, we really needed someone to hold our hand and tell us things like what was normal for earnest money, how long was reasonable to receive a response, etc. We really appreciated Doug especially during this part of the process. Doug also had been working in the business long enough to be able to make good recommendations for other related services like the inspector, radon tester, etc. The closing went about as smoothly as closings go (from what I'm told), and Doug even presented us with a thoughtful gift as we parted ways after the closing. I will admit -- we were nervous going with a realty company we didn't know. They're not Edina Realty or one of the big guys in the market. But I actually think this is a case where that worked to our benefit. We got more one-on-one attention, and I think our business meant more than it would have to one of the big guys. We were really pleased and would recommend without reservation.

They just all seem to lack compassion, pride, and service. All they ever really cared about was collecting money and avoiding repair and maintenance calls or emails till they couldn't dodge the issue. Last year when I was relocating from Los Angeles to Minneapolis I only had two days to find an apartment. I was being rejected from all of them because I didn't have a 730 credit score due to some student loans and medical bills. When I was about to give up and go back to Cali I got a call from Tom Stutsman wondering if I was still looking for an apartment? I told him "yes!I was", but I told him my credit is a work in progress and not high... He said let me guess "Student Loans and Medical Bills"?I said "Yes"! and he told me he didn't care about that stuff and as long as I'm a nice person that's all he looks for... next day I looked at the apartment. I ended up dropping the deposit the next day and had the lease signed before I Flew back to Los Angeles. It all happened so fast and easy. Tom even had the lights turned on for me in my name when I arrived. Any time I had a repair issue, even emailing him late at night they would be taking care of it first thing in the morning. Tom's work ethic is unprecedented and within minutes of talking to him you can tell he radiates a passion for what he does. To say that I was completely ignorant of everything that went into searching for a house is an understatement. I think it'd be understandable for anyone to lose patience with someone who couldn't make up her mind about what she wanted in a home or what she could afford. Scott never made me feel like a burden or like I was uneducated about the housing market. Because he knew that I was a first-time home buyer, he took extra time during our showings to point out important things to take note of that I may not have otherwise paid attention to. He also went into detail about purchase agreements and other contracts to make sure I understood what I was signing. He was always prompt in his email and text responses and made me feel totally valued as a client. I tried working with other realtors from larger firms - mostly because I got a cash incentive from my insurance company to do so - but they very much had a sales mentality or weren't willing to compromise with my expectations or timeline. I ended up foregoing a $600 cash bonus to work with Scott because the impression he left was so much better than the other realtors I tried. He was the only one who I felt I could trust completely. Not only was Scott an excellent realtor, but also he became a great friend of mine. Although I'm so excited to have bought a home, I miss talking to Scott every day and driving around like mad men to showings.
