She checked in with me throughout my pregnancy to see how everything was going and called after she knew I was due to see how we were doing. She worked hard to build trust and a bond before our son ever entered the world. Having to hand your child over to someone else is a scary and very difficult process. The work Patty put in before he joined daycare made the transition easier. Patty operates her daycare out of the basement of her home. While basement might sound dark and dusty, she has a bright, clean, organized and open space. In addition to Patty, she has the help of Mary and her husband Stacy. Mary is a teacher-in-training and you can see all the lessons hanging on the walls of the daycare. While our son is too young for some of this, he is included in age appropriate activities. Stacy is a calm spirit the kids seem to love. When we arrive for daycare each morning Patty personally greets our son. Most times he will reach for her knowing she's going to give him a great big snuggle. She ALWAYS gives him a hug and connects with him right away. Not surprisingly I had a hard time walking away at first, and to be honest still do, but most times I'm able to walk out the door knowing he's in her arms and being loved.
