His family and I could tell he was always very happy there and felt safe and loved. His mom was pleased that Patty taught the kids good manners, how to play well with friends while being challenged in a learning environment.

She treated many of the other parents well. So maybe this is the facility for you. I just warn you, enter with caution. You will not get the person you meet when viewing this facility. She does not treat everyone equally. Patty does not do well when parent's question or object to her way of doing things and is quite unaccommodating in this aspect. Despite her claims that her kids and parents are her family and how she values working together, her actions and behaviors contradict this regularly. Long story short, if you do as Patty says and don't ask questions or disagree, she will like and be kind to you. My wife and I are both easy-going, fun-loving individuals whose number one priority is our child. My wife and I agreed this was not a good fit so we had started the process for finding a replacement, which takes time.... So we were already on our way out. I unfortunately got to a breaking point before establishing care elsewhere, and I could not tolerate this behavior anymore from Patty-I had to literally storm out of the facility with my child due to the uncomfortable situations she routinely put me though and degrading comments regarding my eyes. This is all unfortunate because my 18-month-old enjoyed being there, she liked the other kids and got along with everyone. She is a sweet child, fun and loving and I don't know who wouldn't adore her. I don't doubt Patty's ability to watch children, not at all. It's the way she treated my wife and I, and the things mentioned previously. From a business perspective, Patty runs her daycare with a "her way or the highway" attitude. This isn't to say that she shouldn't be allowed to do this-this is her business, however, just be warned & informed. Again, I have no reason to make this information up, it benefits me in no single way. Remember that Patty wants your money, and she is the only one who has something to lose based off this review. Sure, she has years of experience, I am not doubting that in any way, but the way we were treated is absolutely uncalled for and unprofessional. We were nothing but respectful to this lady and her facility. I will say again, other parents have had a good experience here, but we did not. If this saves at least ONE family from going here and potentially experiencing what we did, then I am satisfied. Last thing I will note, after finding a new daycare facility we have already received multiple photos, videos, and daily updates of our child. In our year and 5 months with Patty I received 2 photos of my child.

Our child was there just a bit over a year and had 13 different teachers. One left during her shift and never came back, many others assured us they would be sticking around but then dropped like flies. The entire school seems to be a revolving door of staff which is never a good sign. Promises kept changing as they upped the number of kids in the rooms but continued to brag about how fantastic their ratios were. Sure they added teachers to the rooms but then teachers kept quitting and were complaining about not having proper breaks and staffing. There were ongoing requests to donate money and supplies to the classrooms - maybe it would have made sense to just increase the tuition by 10 or 20 bucks a month- I'm happy not to have to deal with this at our new daycare. Our journey ended when it became apparent that the children weren't being properly supervised and due to a safety issue we had to make a complaint to childcare licensing. The director then decided to send out updates about our complaint in emails and in Facebook posts where other staff and parents were allowed to mock the situation. Very unprofessional especially considering that the state department of licensing was in the process of citing them for lack of appropriate supervision. Licensing also helped deal with the issue of the staff not having kids regularly wash their hands (like when they came in from outside to eat meals). I feel for some of the teachers who were good but couldn't stick around. The idea behind this school is great and it would be awesome if well executed and managed.

They claim to be child-led in philosophy, but the decisions made didn't seem to have the children's best interest in mind, rather, what was best for the administration and school seemed to be prioritized. Additionally, they were terrible at dealing with issues that arose with parents. Myself and several other parents I knew at the school were consistently told "well, group care isn't for everyone" or "that's why some people decide to hire a nanny" EVERY SINGLE TIME there was an issue--big or small. This led to fearing we were being told to leave the school. After leaving and seeing how other facilities operate and handle issues with parents, I am very glad we made the decision to leave.

The staff welcomed us and they were very caring for our child who had just been traumatized. The staff enthusiastically gave him the loving, and nurturing care that he deserved and this helped him heal and grow. Our son thrived in this positive environment and was soo empowered by his experience that he decided to pursue early on his career as a professional cyclist. From the very beginning, the environment has felt warm, welcoming, and supportive. The teachers and admin staff are so kind and caring, and it's clear they truly love what they do. They always take a few minutes to chat during drop-off and pick-up, which makes me feel connected and reassured about how my little one's day is going. The staff always rave about my little one and how cute and wonderful they are. Warms my heart. One of my favorite things is receiving pictures throughout the day. It's so comforting to see my little one smiling, playing, and being well cared for while I'm at work. I also really appreciate how the teachers partner with parents and share Montessori activities we can try at home. It's been so special to learn simple ways to support my child's development and continue some of the same learning and exploration outside of school. New Song Academy was a newer operation at the time of my initial tour and they had only been open for two or three years. So, I was a little nervous at first. However, two years later after returning from work from the pandemic shut down, the director, Susan still remembered me and my son. She is always very responsive and kind. She and all of the teachers are passionate about what they do and offer a loving and enriching environment for the children. All of the teachers are experienced and educated childcare professionals. They post a reliable food menu along with a new curriculum every month that they ACTUALLY follow. Some places don't always follow through with what they say they do. This place does! The classrooms are clean and organized with a wide variety of books and toys to choose from. They provide a structured schedule which gives the kids comfort. The teachers are very much in charge of the classroom without yelling or scolding. I have yet to witness an out of control environment no matter what time I show up. No running around screaming and crying kids in the corner here. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it happens but I haven't seen it. They have a fenced outdoor playground with age appropriate play equipment. Sectioned for different age groups. Even a covered outdoor play area. The kids go outside every day. The teachers watch them closely as they play. They offer healthy food options from a variety of cultures. My son was an extremely picky eater before he started here and now he will try just about anything. We have a true community among the other families and because they are a Christian based school, we even got to see a Christmas performance with all of the children this year! They encourage the parents to volunteer to deepen that sense of community. I find this transparency very reassuring. They are focused on academics and getting the kids kindergarten ready. My son loves this school, his friends and all of his teachers! If you have been searching for quality childcare for an affordable price, this is it. I get to see what my son ate for lunch, how much he ate and how long he napped, what activities he participated and etc. It's very informative and helpful to learn how my child's day was at school. Good communication is so valuable and it promotes trust and transparency between the school and parents. New Song Academy is definitely NOT profit-driven but provision-driven. At the heart of New Song Academy and its teachers, there's a passion to "provide" for those precious children. Providing safe place and wonderful time for children to cherish and remember (in their life as young kids and even as grownups in the future) is what's happening at New Song Academy. My son loves all the teachers, but his favorite is Ms. Talia. She goes the extra mile for the kids, and one can truly tell she gives her heart and soul to all the kids. Not only are the teachers and directors first-rate, but they do all sorts of fun things for the kids. My son is school-aged, and he is never every bored. During the summer, the older kids go on all kinds of fun and interesting field trips, so it's more like a day camp than a day care. All the children are created equally and with care and love. My son attended Brighton from first through eighth grade and my daughter started in preschool and is now in sixth grade. My kids are completely different and they have both absolutely thrived at Brighton. Brighton does an awesome job of providing an excellent well-rounded education for many different types of learners and kids. Brighton offers an excellent academic program, but also offers an amazing drama program with Mr. DC, some great sports programs, after school extracurriculars, yearly overnight field trips that get longer with each grade level and culminate in a 10 day East Coast trip for the 8th graders, etc. The greatest asset to Brighton is its staff. Brighton attracts some truly talented, caring and highly invested staff and teachers. There are teachers at Brighton who have truly changed the course of my childrens' lives. Ms. (formerly Gabriel) Savage is my daughter's idol. Ms. Savage is the perfect role model for my child, as she is strong, confident, smart, kind and encouraging. My daughter is a gymnast and she has talked to my daughter about mental blocks. She is a great teacher but she clearly cares about her students in a way that goes beyond what her job requires. Her assistant Ms. Carrie is also so caring, patient and kind. Ms. Durbin is another teacher that made a real difference in my daughter's life. Ms. Durbin was like a second mother to my daughter, or my daughter's stand-in mother at school. My daughter has always had a ton of anxiety about overnight field trips, but knowing that Ms. Durbin would be on the field trip always made her feel better. Ms. Durbin knew when to be serious and get the class under control but could also be so silly and have fun with the class. Mr. DiLorenzo is another incredible asset to the Brighton community. Mr. D. was my child's third grade teacher, and he was an incredibly gifted educator then, and now he is the head of the middle school. Mr. D. can be so fun and silly with the kids, but he also knows when to be serious and address serious issues. My son had an awesome middle school experience at Brighton and during his years there built up a community of friends who carried over into the same high school. Ms. Livingston has been serving the Brighton middle school for years in various capacities and she is AMAZING!!!! She is currently teaching math and she is an awesome math teacher, but she also handles a lot of the administrative stuff for the middle school. She's very friendly, great with the kids, great with the parents, and easy to get along with. Ms. Bodnar, according to my 17 year old son, is "the GOAT" (greatest of all time). Ms. Bodnar teachers study skills and math (I think) but she connects with the kids in a way that few others do. My son emphatically thinks that she is the best teacher at Brighton. Ms. Thaler is also a great language arts teacher. She definitely knows what she is doing and I appreciate that she actually challenges the kids. This is Ms. Parks Lobbs' first year as Head of School, but she has been involved with other parts of the school for years and she appears to be 100% in charge of what is happening and in control of things. As a very long-time parent of Brighton who has observed three separate Heads of School, I think Ms. Parks Lobb is doing a great job. There are a lot of other amazing staff members at Brighton who I am going to forget to mention. We love Coach Matt, who is the kindest, funniest guy to have around. He always greets my daughter in the morning with the biggest smile and it makes me feel so good about dropping her off. He also love Coach Brandon, who has been there for years and is super well loved by all the kids. He made the summer camp a blast for my daughter. We really loved Ms. Becca, who is a former aide who is no longer there. We wish the school brought her back. My son had Ms. Schippers for both hers and his first year at Brighton (first grade) and she made him feel super welcome and safe. I don't remember the full names of my daughter's pre-K teacher and aide (the aide was Sarah) but they were both so amazing! Oh yeah, the parents, kids and community at Brighton are also awesome. Both my kids have made amazing friends and we have done all the playdates, the sleepovers, the skate nights (thanks, PTO!), all of it. My son has friends he literally made in FIRST GRADE and now are JUNIORS in high school and they are part of the same friend group and in some of the same advanced classes. My daughter and her best friends met years ago, some as far back as preschool. I've known those parents just as long. The parents are great and the PTO is currently thriving. I've never been involved in the PTO, but I am very, very grateful for the amazing parents who run it and all that they do. Best money we ever spent!
