Than it seemed like everyone who came in was confused on how to check in. Some guy was bellowing over to us how to do it. It was fine but I had to help a few people. It is interesting to enter a business and only see one worker behind a concession counter from a distance. We checked in to a kiosk for our tickets. No one greeted us as we entered. There were food and drink vending machines in the hallway. Very futuristic and cold experience from a human connection viewpoint. The theater was clean. Seats recline comfortably and are spacious with a little table for snacks. Didn't love the movie we picked (Send Help) but it was a decent experience. Talk about going downhill quickly! They started pretty strong but I'm sad to say that did not last at all. There was HAIR in my popcorn. Untouched, just got it from the bin, popcorn. And when I told the waitstaff they looked at me like I was the problem. They didn't immediately clean the bin or anything. My friend asked for a refund for the popcorn at the front counter and one of the staff rolled their eyes but the manager did it. What an awful experience. I ordered our tickets online. When we got there, half the tickets printed and half didn't. I don't know why we need a paper ticket when it was bought online. It took awhile to get someone to help us. We walked into the theater and it was not cleaned from the previous movie. Popcorn tubs and drinks still on tables. The seats were nice and wide but they did not recline and the foot board barely came out. There are QR codes on the tables to order food. We ordered food and my phone kept saying pending for 10 minutes so I walked to the front to make sure it went through. I didn't want to be charge twice. It took an hour to get our food, $42 for onion rings, chicken tenders, chicken wings, and fries and a soft drink. Super overpriced if you ask me. The onion rings were basically cut in half, they were the size of donuts. Everything was flavorless. No sauces or dips for the wings. I don't know if sauce on them would have made them taste any better. Our friends for their food way later than us when we ordered at the same time. They were missing food as well. We had to ask for a refund at the end of the movie. Someone else was also was complaining they didn't get their food at all. There seems to be a lot of things Apple Cinema needs to fix. read more

I thought it was decent. We didn't experience any of the issues that previous reviewers mentioned so not sure if they have fixed some things maybe...? It was odd that you have to stop for a printed ticket after booking online, especially since no one checked or asked for the paper ticket. The theatre and bathrooms were clean and tidy. I do wish they allowed Apple Pay or similar when ordering food since that would make it easier and less awkward than having to fill out a whole credit card info form. The food itself was good. For those saying their food came without sauce, etc, if you want to add anything to your food (ketchup to a burger, hold the tomato, sauce on your wings, etc) you have to add the item to your cart first, then when you're viewing your cart, click to edit the item and all the options are there. We got a burger that was really good, not gourmet restaurant style or anything, but comparable to high end fast food, like Shake Shack. Fries were good but they could have been hotter and saltier. Service was accurate and fast, we ordered right before the trailers started and the food came out before the movie started. All in I would go back again. Our first time at Apple Cinemas in Pitsford. It's another theater with alcohol where the food is brought to your seat. They have options like burgers and fries but we opted for popcorn, soda, and a cocktail. The prices are on par with other movie theaters and bars. I will say the popcotn was cold by the time we got it. Also, no option for apple pay when ordering food with your phone so you have to pull out a credit card and manually enter the info. Why? The seats are reclining seats with small flip up tables attached. They were comfortable overall. However, they also lean back or up even when not reclining which make it hard for shorter people to get out of the seat. Another thing I noted is that the seats share armrests like a middle airplane seat. Not a big fan of this set-up at all unless you're sitting between people you know or have an aisle seat, a stranger will be in your personal space. I did enjoy being able to watch a movie without people pulling out their phones. If I could do 3.5 stars, I would. So overall, I'd go again to see a show but this might not be my first choice. read more

We visited for a free event through our realtor. I frequented the Pittsford cinema often and was disappointed when it closed. I was looking forward to seeing what had been done to the theatre. The renovation is very clean and modern. I loved the corridor design. The digital posters which played trailers was an exciting detail. The bathroom looked the same; I did not notice much difference here. Before our visit I read an article which shared "the theatre will have the area's first large screen with Dolby Atmos -- a popular surround-sound format." The picture and sound were amazing in our screening. The new seats were not for me. They did not fully recline and were very narrow compared to other chains. Over time the seat started to feel uncomfortable and I was having to fidget to find a position which worked for me. We did not get to experience the at your seat dining, so I am unable to comment on this aspect. Popcorn was distributed prior to seating for our event and the quality of the popcorn was very good. Hot and delicious with the taste of real butter. I would like to visit again but there is not much that set this apart from other local theaters for me. read more

The fully self serve popcorn did kind of freak me out and admittedly we didn't order any food during the movie but the ability to watch a movie in a dolby atmos enhanced theater was absolutely incredible! Movie Theater experience compares well to Movie Tavern in Syracuse although we could hear other movies playing while we watched ours. Seats were solid but do not go back all the way. Building very clean. Food was acceptable. Movie ticket prices competitive. *Food prices would scare most away. 4 tenders for $15 is about double the price of a fair offering. I highly suggest ownership do a price comparison of their competitors food and bev pricing ASAP. We go to the movies about 20 times a year. High vs most. Went last night to see Fall Guy, and I am impressed by the makeover this theater has gotten. The vibes are intimate and facilities are cleaner. I'm not sure why the reviews are so negative. They have worked out the kinks that come with a brand new revamp because we personally had a seamless experience. My guess is perhaps expectations were initially too high. Or maybe people are gatekeeping this place before the hype gets real? It is definitely a gem. I can see it getting very crowded on a weekend to escape the hot weather. I love going to iPic, Cinepolis, CGV, and the Lot out on the West Coast which offer a luxury movie going experience. I am ecstatic that we have this option here in Rochester. The ticket prices are very low in comparison to newer recliner seat theaters. Dining in options may not be the healthiest selection of food, but it's a treat. I don't know if this theatre is owned by the same Apple that makes IPhone, etc, but they are trying really hard to look automated, and really it's all phony. There were very nice people at the counter, but the only way to order popcorn or food is to go to your seat and scan its QR code and order from there. The screen we got with the QR code was cramped and poorly designed. I couldn't figure out how to order anything -- and I'm pretty tech savvy with my phone. Finally we went back up and the people who work there helped us place an order, but by that time it was too late to order lunch (because I didn't want to munch food during the movie) so we just got popcorn and drinks. There is only one size of popcorn (huge) and large drinks. A nice young person brought us our popcorn, when we would have been just as happy to pick it up ourselves. Overall their "automation" was just clunky and stupid. There is no reason not to run an ordinary snack bar. We knew it was probably silly when we tried to check our tickets in and had to be talked through that, too. Just non-intuitive gizmo tech that is no improvement over traditional movie theaters. Also, the sound on the showing of Wicked was played over an inadequate speaker system, so it was impossible to hear the dialogue most of the time. Definitely will not be back. I was excited to see this theatre come in but overall it's disappointing. It really feels it started with some good ideas but then there wasn't proper follow through. The website does not work well. Just a couple examples are: 1. We couldn't use our gift card to buy tickets because it was $1 short. 2. When you select add ons for ice cream, instead of sprinkles you get fried eggs as the top option. I hope this place improves soon. read more

This place is extremely fucking depressing. Gone are the days of bright and fun movie theatres, filled with movie posters and cardboard cutouts. There is nothing exciting about this place. The walls are grey, there's no movie posters, it looks like a postmodern LA hellscape with a minimalist design that almost looks as if it's meant to bore you to tears. The food is overpriced, so I didn't even bother. Even by movie theater standards. Also, who the fuck is Apple? Because it's not the iPhone company. It's some offshoot, I have no idea how there was never a class-action lawsuit filed against them This was my favorite childhood theatre. Extremely Disappointed - Violates NY State Law Visited Apple Cinemas on Monroe Ave in Rochester and was shocked to discover they *refuse to accept cash*--a clear violation of New York State Law (Senate Bill 2023-S342), which requires all merchants to accept cash payments. This completely ruined the experience for my children, who were excited to get snacks and concessions only to be told they couldn't buy anything because we had cash. It's unacceptable for a business, especially one that caters to families, to turn away legal tender and deny kids a basic moviegoing experience. Until Apple Cinemas complies with the law and starts respecting their customers, we won't be returning--and I'll be letting other parents know to avoid this place too. read more

Arriving at Apple Cinema in Pittsford, my date and I went to take our seats. We reserved ahead, so as to get the best seats available. The movie was apparently not that popular: the rest of the seats were empty. Nonetheless our two reserved seats were covered in the garbage left by those previously sitting there. You'd imagine that with exactly two seats in the entire theatre to clean up, staff there could spare the minute needed to clean it up. Nope. So we got other seats, and decided to order some popcorn. The order interface was so complicated, and the personal information they wanted so extensive, that after ten minutes of cursing, we gave up. The movie was not that great, but the slack maintenance and jump-through-hoops ordering experience made it worse. Or maybe I should say, typical: the usual overpriced unpleasant experience that underdelivered. We won't be going again, and suggest that you don't either. read more

I've been to this theatre multiple times now and it's simply amazing! I've never had a rough go at all. It's super easy to scan your phone and get your paper ticket at the front and there's always someone warm and welcoming to help you along if you need it. They ask you right away if you've been before and if you haven't they'll go through the steps with you. Food ordering is very easy at your seat with the QR code. The website had hiccups at first but has since been fixed. The food is amazing and priced as normal as any other movie theatre. The sodas are all one size and they're big so $7 is absolutely worth the price and so is the $10 BUCKET (not small bag) of popcorn. I've had their chicken fingers, burgers, fries, and popcorn and they're all delicious. The seats ARE plus size friendly and comfortable. As a plus size person myself (size 22) I have more than enough room plus some left over to sit and the table for my food is still roomy. My only qualm is they're always out of nachos but you win some you lose some and that's the only "bad" thing about them lol. read more

Very nice theater with nice prices( matinee was only $ 9.00). Employees were very friendly, clean theater, food was hot and delicious, priced reasonably, and very comfortable recliners to enjoy your movie. First time customer, I was greeted by an employee, and he explained how to scan the barcode at the seat if I wanted food, drinks, or snacks and they would be delivered to my seat. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger, and tea and the tea was delivered very quickly. The burger came out a short a time later, and was accompanied with crispy french fries, lots of ketchup packets, and napkins . The movie started on time, and was very enjoyable. At this dump, it's $40 for the equivalent of a fast food value meal. And tastes way worse. Service is like snot running uphill in January, and disorganized. I had high hopes for this venue. Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed. The remodeling of the theater is very nice. The floors are lovely. I observed that the lobby couches were very low and not appropriate for seniors or disabled. The bar area looked nice, but alcohol doesn't interest me. I didn't use the ladies room, so no comment on that area. Patrons must scan their own ticket at a kiosk upon entering. The design of the theater room is ok. The audio and video is good. I found the narrow seats and swing away trays too confining for my plus-sized frame. I observed that the space designated for a wheelchair did not include a tray for the patrons' use. In fact, my reclining seat was so narrow that it engaged itself in reclining or sitting upright when I moved in my seat! Pretty funny, but not really when trying to watch the movie. In all, I was disappointed with the lack of human interaction. You must order food and drinks from your seat. You must scan a bar code on your tray. Then, from your cell phone enter a credit card to pay for your choice of food or drink. Then select your choices from the app on your phone. A server then brings your order to you. The $7. Diet Coke was a large, but that is still a ridiculous price in my opinion. On top of that a gratuity is requested! It would have been nice to get some instruction on how to order as it took several minutes to complete this task. I used to come to this theater almost weekly. I used to see many seniors and disabled here. I don't anticipate returning anytime soon. It feels so sterile and uninviting. Came today with my children to see the new kpop demon hunter singalong movie. The customer service at the bar was great and the theater was very clean and operates well, but when I took my girls to the bathroom we could see and hear some kind of commotion in the kitchen. The cook was yelling and cursing very loudly and we could also see and hear her throwing things around. On our way out of the theater we could also hear her yelling at other employees. Gave this theater a 2nd chance. We should not have. Food setup is a mess. Can only order food once in seats in theater. But since everyone purchases reserved seating, all the orders practically take place at once. The kitchen then gets backed up. If you are seeing a shorter movie, you may not get food until halfway through or closer to end. The food runners don't know where seats are even though every row has numbered seats. Counting as they walk down a row would help. There are no lights on the seats so you cannot see your food. Not an issue if it's popcorn but difficult to put ketchup on a burger. So people turn on their phone lights. The food runners will also give up if they don't know which seat ordered the food so I have yelled during the movie as they are walking out "that's our food". Which is fine because the food runners came in and yelled at a customer tonight that they were out of chicken. Yelling seems to be acceptable. Tonight we went to see Dune. It froze twice and both times restarted from different points. Not sure if I saw the entire movie. The seats are not comfortable for 3.5 hours of a messed up movie. Management never even apologized. A complete fail. Whoever had this theater concept is a complete dunderhead. This afternoon I went to see a film in Pittsford NY. It doesn't matter what movie. The overall experience left me angry! For what it costs to see movies today anger shouldn't be what I'm left with. Bought tickets online. The fee is always an insult. Got to the theater, approached an attendant and was told to go back to the entrance where the QR code readers are, to get a paper ticket! I go back to the attendant and bar counter and noted no snacks, drinks, food, menus, options, nothing. I inquire how to get pop corn and beverage. I'm told I have to go to my seat and use my phone to order via another QR code which is on a baby crib style slide out table attached to each seat. Now I'm getting a little hostile. My theater experience is becoming a chore. The qr code brings up a menu. The menu of course lists everything from soft drinks to alcohol, foods from onion rings to burgers...everything WAY overpriced. A burger for $15? Just kill me. I just want pop corn... $10...with a choice of butter or none. And a small bottle of ice tea $5. It listed choices lemon, Raspberry, unsweetened...but the only thing that came to the cart was sweet tea. When you check it gives you various options for tipping!! Because they have to bring it to your seat. Sorry, I chose not to tip. For a $10 small pop corn, a tip? No. After 15 minutes the attendant brings ice tea...room temp and my pop corn. The pop corn had no butter on it though thats what I requested, was cold like out of a bag cold, and so salty it was ineditable. I was pissed, got up and went back to the counter, waited 10 minutes while 1 person manned the incoming patrons, when he turned to me I said it was cold and salty and had no butter. He grabs the bucket and says go back to your seat and I'll bring another. I would have, if asked, asked for a refund. I shrug, go back to my seat having missed 15 minutes of the movie and wait. 15 minutes later my pop corn arrives. There's butter on it but it still incredibly salty and cold. I would guess they used the same contents. Enough! I go back to the counter; wait another 10 minutes and request a refund. They took my card and refunded me $10. No sorries, no offers, just back to business. I missed about 25 minutes of the movie and my attitude was shot! This was the worst theater experience I've ever had and will warn anyone I can to go anywhere else to see their flicks. This format of movie going will not work and whoever thought it would is clearly from another planet. Seeing a movie shouldn't cost $100 and that's why people stay home. The Little Theater and The Goodman are old school fun theaters with nice people and simple good amenities. The chains are crazy expensive but at least you choose your options and enjoy a film. This Apple concept is ridiculous and I guarantee will go unattended soon enough. It's a shame...it was good place before this chain took it. Go anywhere else or stay home. Thank you. read more

Nice remodeling of the theater. It is new looking and clean. Seats are narrow so if you're on the heavier side it might not be wide enough. Each theater screen has minimal seating so keeps it cozy.
