The continental breakfast is also satisfying often including scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, a breakfast meat, cereal, fresh fruit, and more! It is also centrally located to most things we want to do from shopping for furniture to stocking up on cheeses and spices to candles and leather goods. Our main complaint was the people in the room above us had kids that ran up & down and it sounded like a herd of elephants starting at 8:00 a.m.

So much has already been said, but this is a natural respite from the world with all of the creature comforts. To anyone saying the property is somewhat outdated, I disagree and fully appreciated features like carpet in the honeycomb suites and in the dining areas. It keeps noise down from fellow diners and guests staying in rooms nearby. When can you ever say this in modern stark industrial hotels? This made the experience so cozy. And the place is clean!! It looks and smells fresh. The honeycomb suites are constructed from stone and wood, and it's so refreshing. The food is delicious and well-appointed on the restaurant menus - both brunch and apps and dinners. They change the menus frequently based on what's in season, as a natural property like this should be. Service! Also "outdated" in that it was actually great! Where can you receive personable service anymore? The front desk, hostesses, serving attendants, communication prior to check in, you name it. We were first timers but met many guests who have been returning for decades. We would count ourselves lucky to be able to do the same. Great experience. My only gripe, and it's a legit one, and it can be avoided: room service. It should not be served in plastic in a bag like carry out, at a romantic resort and at this price point. We opted for brunch in our room one morning, and were disappointed to find a bag of food on plastic. No. Beware of this and go the fine dining room to avoid this. I have never ordered room service anywhere in the world and had it delivered in this manner to a $500 per night room. This did not take away from the rest of our experience though, but diners should be warned.

We stopped by the Inn and spoke to this gracious young lady at the restaurant. She said it was open to the public as well. We also spoke to the person at the front desk and picked up pamphlets on what you can do in the area. The rooms looked pricey on the website, I'm not sure if it's a place I would stay. Maybe for a celebration of some sort. It's close to many different Amish Places.

It was rainy during our stay, so we didn't get to use the fire pit or the patios, but I still love that they are available. We stayed for 3 nights, so we brought a lot of our own food, but the cinnamon rolls, snacks, & drinks waiting for us in the kitchen were great. If I had to question one thing it was that there was no tv in the bedroom, even though there's any easy hookup for it. We weren't there to watch tv, though, so it didn't really cause a problem. :) Marilyn was great, & she made me feel like I never needed to hesitate to ask for anything. If we're ever able to make the trip again, I look forward to revisiting Red Cottage Hideaway.

Even though the cabins are next to each other, we felt like we were the only ones on the property. The jacuzzi tub in the room was a really nice amenity. We enjoyed the fireplace (super easy to turn on and off with a light-switch) and couldn't believe how much heat it put out. The kitchen was stocked with basic cooking essentials and dishes for two. The only downside was the miscommunication with our checkout. We payed for a late checkout, but apparently the office didn't communicate that to housekeeping. The office left me a voicemail saying they didn't have record of the late checkout, I returned the call and confirmed that we did pay extra for that, and then shortly after housekeeping showed up and we had to also tell them that we had a late checkout. Kind of took us out of our getaway bubble, but overall a really nice vacation experience.

We stayed in one of the cabins. It had a small front porch and a small deck out back with a table and chairs. The living area is quite large with a wood burning fireplace, a coffee table that pulls up into a higher table for eating, a tv/dvd player, a pull out couch, a CD player with a few discs, and then on the far side of the room is the jacuzzi tub and a rocker. Off of the living room is the bedroom with a very large bed already made with comfy linens as well as a rocker, small closet and chest of drawers. On the backside of the cabin is a small room with two robes, extra pillows, a small sink, mini-fridge (stocked w/water bottles and a few different sodas), a small coffee pot with coffee, and a few snacks, and a couple of mugs and glasses. Just past that is a shower with a glass door and the toilet and sink. It was very spacious. There was firewood set for us to start a fire once we got settled in, as well as a bin of firewood outside for more as needed. In the main house there is a cozy sitting area. There were a few board games and an array of dvd's to take back to your room if you want to relax and watch a movie. That is also where the dining area is for breakfast. Day 1: Coffee, Juice, a fruit plate, muffins, asparagus frittata, blueberry oatmeal pancake and bacon. All so good. Day 2: Coffee, Juice, fruit plate, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, maple sausage patty, herbed eggs and french toast with a berry compote on top. You will not leave this place hungry breakfast or dinner. The masseuse came to our room for our massages. She brought her massage table and put on some light music. We went one at a time. First me then my husband. Both were each an hour long. Only thing I was slightly disappointed about was that it wasn't one of those pregnancy tables that has a hole in the middle for your belly so I had to lay on my side which isn't as comfortable. Had to use a few pillows between my legs and under my head. It's just not ideal, especially for someone like me who was 37 week pregnant, and it's hard/painful having to roll from one side to another. Other than that it was still good, this was my husband's first massage and he enjoyed his as well. Not that it mattered to us but there's not really good phone service here and wifi is only available in the main house. If you need to make a local call though there was a phone in the sitting area in the main house. Definitely recommend for a relaxing get away.
