While Apple + Oak is small, it is filled with so many unique finds. They have amazing home decor, gifts, stickers, stationary, and glassware. I was in love with all of the Turkish rugs-- sadly they were out of a college student's budget. lol. The stickers varied from pop culture, tv shows, politics, and local nashville merch. We got two! I was also able to get a birthday card! Their cards and stickers are reasonably priced. I feel like so many shops in nashville all have the same stuff; however, this hand-curated store felt different, as i had not seen many of the products here anywhere else. From the store and store's social media, it is prevalent that their mission is social justice and social change. It has been a few years since I've been here, but I still order place an occasional online order. My recent find was the "East Nashville" wine glasses to support the tornado relief. So cute! My husband and I found this place online because Kacey Musgraves made an appearance/signing to promote Golden Hour. We happened to be in town that day and decided to go. We checked out the store online and my husband said, "It looks like somewhere you would shop!" and it's true! When I walked in there and saw all the cute gift items, cards and kitchenware, I was overwhelmed! This place totally gets me! It's so freaking cute! I've been following this store's iconic Instagram for a while, an account I highly recommend checking out. The owner runs it and she posts merchandise but also social justice, personal stories, Nashville happenings, and just funny things going on in the world (ie Hilaria Baldwin). I've messaged the account a few times and the owner is very sweet and friendly. I stopped in last week but it had closed early, which was disappointing. I came back today to get a panther pizza cutter I've had my eye on and the owner was just as nice in person. The store is very cute and has a lot of great gifts. read more

This is one of my favorite shops in Nashville! The owner is so nice, and I love all the quirky stuff I find here. I do most of my holiday shopping here for gifts as well because there's something for everyone. The location is perfect too because it's by a few other cute shops, and really close to restaurants and coffee shops. read more

3.5 I'll admit from the bat: I didn't come to Apple & Oak and have a typical experience so ymmv with my review. I didn't come in search of home furnishings and I didn't avail myself of the rugs they're known for. I did see a mirror that caught my eye but it was at a price point I didn't want to explore so I kept it moving. Know this: the store is very small and if you're the only patron, it will feel a bit awkward walking around. When I find myself in these situations, I buy things. I buy things not because I want them or think the purchases make sense. I buy them because I feel badly about being in the store with the owner and I *don't* want to buy anything. I'm not good at browsing. Does that make sense? I mean, I know it doesn't make sense but can you follow my train of thought? So, Apple & Oak. Small store. Furniture-ish (there's more than just home furnishings) store. Very sweet owner. I walked in not knowing what to expect and found myself in an episode of The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl but instead of Black Girl it's Black Guy and instead of Issa Rae's millions and awards, I'm making due without... for now. But we're both still awkward! Once I walked in and realized a.) the owner was arm's length away from me and b.) I didn't see anything I wanted to buy, I realized that I needed to walk around until I could find something to buy. I probably wore a hole in the concrete, pacing back and forth, all the while sorting of smiling and keeping my head down... which was probably creepy. Ugh. Why wasn't there someone else in the store so I could make my getaway? I looked at art (nice but nothing I could give as a present). I checked out some jewelry (the Branded Collective; very important but a bit too heavy for whom I was shopping). I looked at some rugs (what the heck was I doing looking at rugs?). I was starting to panic a bit. Why couldn't I just thank the owner, wave and leave? This is why I don't go shopping on a regular basis. Rounding the corner for the third time, I happened upon a pink 'Nashville' hat. Perfect. I'll take it. Appropriately 'girly.' Something that could be used with regularity. A present that was local and (somewhat) personal. I'll take it. Because I don't know when enough is enough, I also picked up an ornament. The ornament looked nicer on the box than outside of it but I'd picked it up. I'd committed. I was doing this. I brought my items to the owner to pay. I can't say enough good things about this place!! Allison and staff went above and beyond helping my husband and I get great rugs for our new Nashville home! We were able to do a trial run with some rugs to make sure they looked awesome and we loved them in our space... which was insanely awesome and helpful. Apple & Oak is a charming, gorgeous little furniture and home goods store in East Nashville. Wall art, gorgeous rugs, jewelry, stuff for parties...they have a lot, and everything is adorable. My friend suggested we wander over to Apple & Oak when we were grabbing a coffee at Portland Brew Coffee on Eastland...and I'm so glad we went! Started off with a friendly greeting of a free mimosa upon entering this tiny home goods store in the Porter Road shops. Lots of nice wooden pieces and various Nashville-inspired prints, along with the requisite rack of witty greeting cards that are a part of all vintage shops these days.
