Appel & Ei has opened another location in the NL.
This unique consignment and second-hand shop are located in Haarlem. The idiom for Appel & Ei means appel and egg-something done for a little amount of money.
Pros
You can sell any of your unwanted nice clothes in an environmentally friendly way, which is great because it is all about sustainability when it comes to fashion.
--A great way to stop waste production.
--Balance fashion and sustainability, you can find some really cool items in here, which is an inexpensive way of shopping.
--They will hold your items in the shop to sell for 2 months.
--The biggest pro to me is you get your items back if not sold. Most shops in Haarlem don't return items if not sold, they are normally sent off to charity.
--It's a chain shop-multiple shops are located around the Netherlands. So feel free to check out a few of their locations.
--They are located on the main street, a few steps from Haarlem Central station.
---When you pick your items up they have everything waiting in a bag for you already, so therefore you don't have to search around the store looking for your items. For example like some other shops I have experienced in the past. They can track what sold and not, based on your account number.
--The owner/management team seems friendly.
Con
You can't track it online like some shops in Amsterdam.
--They don't mark the brand, size or color of the product in your account, so you are not sure what sold during the process, unless you jot it down yourself. They find it too time-consuming and I guess this strategy works better for them. However at the end of the 2 months you will clearly know, because they will be transparent with you what sold and not, but it is always wise to note the items you brought in the shop when dealing with any form of consignment shop. .
--If items are stolen you are not compensated. read more
