I am such a big fan of Best Kept Secret Cottage. They have two shops located across from one another in the center of Haarlem. My favorite shop is the Cottage one, it has more of a mature look for me. The owner is from London and she is just simply fabulous. I was so grateful how she toke her time in helping me find a lovely dress to celebrate my anniversary with Dutchman. She is completely patient and has a remarkable eye for fashion. Ladies if you are looking for a dress to accommodate any occasion, then look no further than right here. read more

I really like their collections, however they are a bit pricey..but..there is always a solution for bargain hunter like me..twice a year (or more often) scotch and soda starts their sale!! It starts a bit shy with 40% max..and then continues.. I went there today and found a really cool tshirt:-) One thing that always makes me laugh (inside) is the question that I get so often from shop staff when paying for the scored piece of clothing..sth along the lines: Were you able to find something nice???Then I just feel like answering sth like...ah no..I am just paying for your charity fund. Here's your sign!!!

This is a really cool shop worth visiting. I really admire what they are doing in here. What struck my attention the most about Jansje was their pillows, wool blankets, mats, and cool handmade gifts. I saw a few cool little nice accessories for the house or you could say an ideal place to shop for gifts.

I'm all for paying fair prices, but EUR40 for a "phone case" that is just two sewn together pieces of plain felt, with no decoration or anything? Really? I'm pretty sure my 3 year old brother could make a nicer phone case than that, for under 50 cents. Maybe people just love the food... I'll have to come back and try it some time.

In true 'Cristina' fashion, this River Island store was the first shop I visited after landing in…read moreAmsterdam. For context, River Island clothing stores don't exist in the US, but I find myself shopping online using their app often. Before my trip, I purchased a pair of jeans that didn't fit (can someone explain how a US size 2-4 translates to a UK size 10?!) and realized I couldn't return them from the US. Instead, I tracked down a River Island store near Dam Square and set out on a quest to get my $50 back lol. So, back to the review... I stopped by just in time since the store is actually closing down this month. Almost everything was on sale, from swimwear to formalwear. I got a gorgeous summer dress for 10€ (originally €65) and a cute pair of corduroy pants for 10€ (originally €40). I was also able to process my international return with the lovely cashiers who were VERY patient as they processed a return for merchandise sold to me in GBP, charged to my card in USD, with a mandatory return to my card of EUR. Say that 3 times fast. Enough to confuse anyone, but they made it happen without any complaints (and we had a good laugh about it afterwards). If you're roaming around Dam Square and need some retail therapy, visit River Island before they close!
