After moving away from the area and returning. 4 yrs later, dr Renato had passed away, sadly. We picked up, as patients of Dr Robert Yu & Dr Ann Marie Yu. We seemed to think we would be happy as we were with the father, but realized differently.
Both the brother and sister seem to resist any prescription of antibiotics to the point where my daughter had a cough, green phlegm, and a persistent high fever off & on for 3 weeks. All the while during these few weeks of illness, they both diagnosed & insisted on allergies: which we took claritan & benadryl. The high fever waived down and spiked back up. Then they diagnosed & insisted it was asthma/reactive airway. My daughter went through allergy testing at north shore lij and asthma testing. Results were no allergies except for trees. I asked the allergist is a high fever& green phlegm normal symptom of allergies, she said no. (dr. Tsaikalris) when tested for asthma, she was borderline asthmatic, but not really enough to call asthma. My son was tested for asthma when he was coughing fits and high fever. No asthma was found. In the end of the 3 week illness, Antibiotics were prescribed.
After all the test results, when both children were sick again, and sick nearly every month, for my daughter with same symptoms, my husband & I expressed strongly that we were concerned about pneumonia. My daughter has it once when she was 4. With the past history and our concerns, and not being able to hear anything in her chest, dr rental Yu prescribed singular (oral tablet), xopenox(inhaler) veramyst(nose spray), and patanol(eye drops). He prescribed these 4 medications for my son too,who had no allergies or asthma whatsoever.
The sheer stubborn refusal (upon concern & actual request) to prescribe antibiotics when my daughter had high fevers for weeks off & on accompanied with colored phlegmy cough, was bad & irresponsible medical practice and we had no chose but to switch doctors
Within 6 months of switching doctors, my children have not been as sick, could be due to switching schools also. But when my daughter got sick again with same symptoms, antibiotics were prescribed even though the doctor at premiere care could not hear anything in her lungs, but the fever came back a week later, just like in past when we were under dr. Robert Yus care. 2nd visit to different doctor at premiere care couldn't hear anything in chest either, but recommended an xray and it showed she had pneumonia. The high fever wouldn't go away so we went back to our 'new' pediatrician and he diagnosed Walking Pneumonia.
It's very likely my daughter had Walking Pneumonia during the year. It explains the persistent fever and constant cough, and how the 4 allergy medicines (inhaler, tablet, nose spray & eye drops) only worked temporarily and then the symptoms came back.
Anyhow. I feel I need to make this known to people bc the risk of walking pneumonia or any lung infection or bronchial infection should not be overlooked as Reactive Airway or asthma or allergies
Any doctor can confirm that a high fever is a symptom of an infection. And accompanied with colored phlegm, I must say I am shocked Dr Robert & AnnMarie Yu would insist on diagnosing Reactive Airway.
Just beware if your children are under their care.
