I was very moved and touched as each volunteer helped distribute food to the many men and women of the military who are Active Duty, Reservists, Retired, as well as disabled veterans! You can volunteer every third Friday from 0830 to 1400. The next food pantry will be held May 19 at Lake Baldwin VA Outpatient Clinic in Orlando. I highly encourage all to come out to volunteer and help our military veterans out!

We toured the Winter Park Events Center while searching for Quinceañera venues for my daughter, and…read moreit's truly one of the most beautiful event spaces in Central Florida. The venue is thoughtfully designed with two main levels. The downstairs ballroom serves as the primary event space with a full kitchen and dressing room, while upstairs features a large rooftop terrace, another dressing room, and a half kitchen that works well for cocktail hours or smaller gatherings. The entrance also showcases local art installations, which adds a nice cultural touch. One thing that really stood out during our tour is the value for the size of the venue. For the number of guests the space can accommodate, it's honestly difficult to beat the pricing compared to many other venues in the area. The only reason we ultimately didn't choose this venue came down to production limitations. They do not allow cold sparkler machines, "dancing on a cloud" effects, or direct mounting from the ceilings, which restricted some of the celebratory elements we were planning. They are also strict about approved caterers and vendors, which is understandable since previous events have caused permanent damage to the facility. Because our daughter's padrinos wanted to contribute to some of the more elaborate production elements, we had to explore other options. That said, if your event doesn't require those features, the Winter Park Events Center is an incredible venue with a modern design, great layout, and strong value. For weddings, galas, or milestone celebrations that fit within their guidelines, it's absolutely worth touring.

A newer building, inside and out, we spent our time on the first floor. The main room boasted plenty of natural light because of the nearly floor-to-ceiling windows. The size was large enough to boast many tasting stations along the outside walls and plenty of high-top tables to stand and enjoy the caterer's selections of entrees and desserts. Outside the windows, pleasant views of palm trees, the lake, and the adjacent park were enjoyable to take in. By the staircase in the hall leading to the main room, the tall wall boasted a beautiful stained glass portrayal of a peacock, a nod to the official bird of the city of Winter Park. (Right past the stairs, the bathrooms are located and found to be clean.) Overall, the Center is a very functional venue for a tasting event. What to be aware of: Parking. When we drove up to the center on Morse, I could quickly discovers that the few parking spots by the entrance were already full. Fortunately, the Winter Park Library is only a few paces from the center and its parking lot is right around the corner with plenty of parking.
