To me, the judge of any store of this variety is the quality of the brands they carry, and the ones of note for me are: Jimmyjane and LELO. Immediate points for Coco de Mer as they carry both Jimmyjane and Lelo. The shopgirl who helped me was knowledgeable and showed me a couple of other options I wouldn't have thought to ask about on my own. I really liked the feel of the YVA by Lelo, but the price tag was a bit out there (though considering it's £896 on Lelo.com I shouldn't be surprised.) However, the gold Little Something was over £200 at Coco de Mer but on Jimmyjane.com it's just $158 (the equivalent of £105.) Something's wrong with this picture. Right? Besides the price inflation, I found the book section lacking. Primarily how-to books and I didn't manage to spot a single Susie Bright title. Surprising.

Some people might need a warm beverage to relax them when confronted with the plethora of pleasure giving devices presented in this sexy grotto, I am not one of them, although I have to say, what a lovely touch. What I love about Sh is that they cater for girls and understand that most of us don't want to be confronted by a huge, black wobbly dildo when entering a store. Not to say that you cant buy one, or one covered in spikes or made out of glass or attached to a harness here (you get the picture) but they are tastefully presented and surrounded by feathers, bell adorned nipple tassles and rhinestone handcuffs amongst other wonderful inventions. The staff are pleasant, very knowledgeable and discreet, my first visit to the store was to buy a vibrator and the sales assistant recommended several, based on personal experience and sent me away very happy indeed with a waterproof 'Jessica' (£22). The variety of toys for men and women here rivals any similar store that I have visited and they also have a good selection of lubricants, literature and underwear.

Everything here is such a fanatic combination of rich satins and delicate laces... styles that are both subtly alluring and fiercely sexy. The window displays are ever-changing and never fail to woo me inside... with very few exceptions (most waspies just aren't that flattering...) I could easily cart off all of the darling nighties and luxurious knickers they have hanging on their racks. They support and carry a lot of more boutiquey labels and independent designer brands - which means you'll find stuff here that you won't anywhere else. They even have a line for expectant mothers (literally, yummy mummies, oy). This is also your place if you happen to be in the market for a corset or any other burlesque type fashions - they can even hook you up with the same satiny corset designed for Ms. Dita Von Teese.

I particularly like their website shop that opens with an animation of red velvet drapes to scenes of an art-deco / bordello inspired house! Pieces seemed to range from £30 for pants up to £125 for a basque or silk slip - not too bad when you compare it to some of the other brands locally at Spitalfields etc. I'm told by the designer that the next collection is out soon, so check it out!

They have helpful staff and they're conveniently located in London--unlike where I live in DC, which used to have one. I came here to pick something out for my wife as a present. (As an aside, pro-tip is figure out what style of lingerie your wife likes and her size because it will pay huge dividends if you like seeing her in sexy things.) At first they really wanted to know my wife's e-mail to help look up what she had bought and her preferences. It turns out that was just because they wanted to help make sure I knew her size and brand preferences and once they figured out I already knew that, they were happy to help without any more delay. Basically, they just got out the drawers for her bra size and let me leaf through it to see if I could find anything. I wound up picking out a nice bra and then they help find the matching panties to go with it--they had two and I bought both. To my surprise, the whole set of three things was notably cheaper than even a set two would have been in the states, which was a nice surprise.

This did not last forever and I was ever so excited to see a real-life Intimissimi store store in London. The store itself was beautiful - the displays, the decor, the vibe. Because sizing is different than US sizes, I asked for help (it is odd how customer service differs in clothing stores between the USA and UK). After a quick measurement and try on, I did make a purchase of a bra, panties, and one-size tees which I so fondly remember.... those one-size tees are very lovely and fit perfect if you are US size Medium. Anyway, I wish I would have asked some more "personal" style fit questions (but I thought that was the associate's job...) as I was lead to believe I was purchasing a lower cut style and it turned out to be a full-coverage which isn't universally functional for me. The store and brand itself are lovely, but I feel like the customer service was lacking in regard to assistance and sharing product/brand knowledge.
