Scandic Talk - Grillad fläskkarré med tillbehör (totalt smaklöst även om upplägget var helt ok)

The Rica Talk Hotel is located in one of the southern suburbs of Stockholm. Note that it is not (as…read moreone previous review claims) located along one of the subway lines. It is however located close to the commuter train station Alvsjo. It is around 10 minutes by train from the central station but it is worth noting that the commuter trains do not run all night (the subway does) and in winter time the commuter trains are notorious for being late. Still the location is OK. If you are going to the fair it is located in connection to that so then it is an excellent location. The hotel itself is fairly new and it has a Scandinavian feel to it with light colors. The hotel staff were all very helpful and very polite. Check-in was very efficient and they made sure to ask if I wanted the Internet password. The room was also fairly nice and had the same type of design as could be seen in the lobby. Decent size as well which is nice for those who stay longer periods. Most things are fairly standard in the room; wireless Internet, TV, desk, a few chairs, 'minibar' (or at least some snacks, drinks etc - do note that there is no fridge so the drinks are not cold), water kettle, iron (very difficult to find) etc. The bathroom was also nice, no bath tub but I only stayed for one night so no problem. The only thing that annoyed me and I am actually not sure what they were thinking was the fact that they provide soap, shower gel and conditioner but no shampoo. For me it would make sense if they did not provide conditioner but still just a minor issue. The breakfast was great. Large selection of both hot and cold food. Numerous different types of bread (and even some sweets and pastries if that is your thing). The best part was without a doubt the juice/smoothie bar where they made fresh juice and smoothies. There was also an excellent selection of different newspapers. If I would have known that the breakfast was this good I would have made sure to have some more time to spend there. To summarize the hotel is a great choice for anyone who do not mind being based a little bit outside the city. The rates are rather low when there is not a fair going on so it is possible to stay at this hotel for a fairly good price.

From IBIS to MERCURE with a grand renovation. The change and renovation has been only recently and…read moreyou can experience it both ways: new floors and furniture; it doesn't only look new it is new. But some negatives come with it (at least for now): where are the drawers and cupboards for clothes? I stayed for 5 nights as a single in a double room privilege and did not know where to put things. No hooks in the bath room and hangers for towels. And definitely not enough lights: it never gets really bright in winter and how would I enjoy reading in one of the 2 comfty chairs? Someone must spend attention to details - PLEASE. THE BEST: receptionists are extremely customer-oriented. And The breakfast is very good.

The Ibis hotel is located some distance outside of the central parts of Stockholm. It is a bit more…read morethan 15 minutes by subway to the central station (and it is 5-10 minutes walk to the subway from the hotel). There is not much of interest in the surrounding area so for tourists it is only an option if willing to either travel some time by subway or if you have access to a care (in which case the location is fairly good, right next to the highway). The hotel is pretty much what one would expect from an Ibis hotel. It is basic but clean. The hotel has seen better days and could use some paint etc in the rooms. The room we were in was large but as usual in an Ibis hotel not much furniture. There was however a TV with some basic channels, a desk (Internet access is however not included and it is expensive), a few places to sit and a large bed. The bed could have been more comfortable but it was still fairly ok. The bathroom had a shower (no bath tub). The soap provided had a very cheap feel to it so if staying for more than 1-2 nights I would suggest bringing your own. The breakfast was above average and is the best option in the surrounding area. The big advantage we saw in the hotel was however the price - the value was unbeatable. So for those who do not mind staying outside of Stockholm and want a budget choice this is a solid option (do however also remember to consider the expensive subway tickets when comparing to other options).

Really, really lovely hotel, looks newly built, so everything is modern, from the design to the…read morespaciousness, to the number of electrical outlets, including an outlet near each bed, with a small nightstand to put your phone, etc. A nice workspace/desk with chair also included. My only complaint was the lack of clothing drawers, and minimal closet space. Like, there was maybe 5 hangers with maybe 1 foot/25cm of width to hang clothes, and no luggage rack. That said, these were minor issues, and between the desk, and other surfaces, where was room to put our stuff out without putting it on the floor. The breakfast on the fourth floor every morning is fantastic. Not sure if every Swedish hotel does this or what, but there were multiple buffet stations, with every from eggs+bacon+pancakes, to a yogurt station, to an entire table of bread + butter, with multiple juices/coffee options, a separate fruit station, and the list goes on and on and on. The location is excellent if you want to go to the Friends Arena, or the Mall of Scandinavia (with lots of food options, both fast or sit-down, all of which are within easy walking distance. The Solna station (Pendeltag/commuter train system) is about a 12-15 minute walk away. Tip: Ignore Google Maps and walk through the Mall to get to the hotel if it's very cold outside. Bathrooms: They are bougie, with a nice design aesthetic, with plenty of bathroom countertop space to place things. Not sure what the other review was talking about with the shower compartment not being completely enclosed; our shower had a glass door, and minimal water spilled into the room. Oh oh! The flowers are heated! So nice.

It's also conveniently located next to public transport and my office. Rooms are nice with views specially on the upper floors. It's a very tall hotel with 25 floors. The only drawback is the absolute lack of closet space and the shower enclosure with nothing to stop water from splashing all over the bathroom floor. Staff are nice and there are restaurants on the 4th and 25th floor. I did not go to the 25th floor restaurant but did have breakfast at the other restaurant. As breakfast is always included get to the breakfast restaurant soon as it's a zoo after about 8am. Food is ok nothing special. I am sure I will be back here again. It's one of a handful of hotels close to my office in the area.
