If you aren't quite fit it might be an idea to go elsewhere as you'll need stamina to go in and out through the day. We booked this place for a week on Booking.com. It was our first destination in Spain after we left the South of France. It was about a 4.5 hour drive to Vic environs on a Sunday, but our satnav failed to get us to the apartment. We had to phone the hosts and we were grateful they came along to guide us to the apartment. All our dealings with them showed they are charming. To save me, their description is 'Apartments ApturVic en el Centre Historic is situated in Vic, 300 metres from Vic Cathedral, 500 metres from Vigata Cinema, and 300 metres from Museo Episcopal de Vic. There is a private entrance at the apartment for the convenience of those who stay. Free WiFi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. Each unit features a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a seating area, a flat-screen TV, a washing machine, and a private bathroom with shower and a hair dryer. An oven, a microwave and toaster are also available, as well as a coffee machine and a kettle. At the apartment complex, every unit is equipped with bed linen and towels.' The apartment allocated with our name on it was over 80 steps up from the ground floor to the 4th floor and over our time staying there we met up with friends who also had apartments around the centre and all had quite a number of steps to navigate. We managed to get up and in to the 4th floor apartment once, with our host, on our arrival but it was tough and enough for me and my wife wouldn't have been able to do it again. She had to stop on the stairs on the way up breathless. I sure couldn't manage a suitcase upstairs. That apartment had air con. Long story short we were offered a full refund by Judith and to stay the night in their 1st floor apartment about 26 steps up from the front door; that apartment was due to be occupied for a few days from Monday but our host (Judith) managed to persuade them that first evening to swop to the 4th floor so we could stay there for the week. Still even those steps were a daily challenge going in and out. We didn't do much cooking at all, opting to dine out and we were literally surrounded by delightful cafes, restaurants and bars. There was a clothes market on one of the days so the place was real crowded but other days it was a real pleasant small town feel especially early mornings were so relaxed. Their description of our apartment is accurate but it's not made clear in their details that our apartment had no air con, rather an electric fan, but a fan is not effective at cooling at 34c so our week was not as comfortable as it could have been. They could also usefully add a defibrillator. I'm not sure why the absence of air con is not plainly stated. There's no hint that to stay here requires a good level of fitness. Stamina is essential and if you are in your eighth decade you might want to go elsewhere. The WIFI went down periodically and we had to throw the mains switch and wait a while for it to work again. The hosts do not provide parking rather it's already provided and they bring you to it. It's underground and literally underneath most of the Main Street and about a 5 minute walk from the apartment to enter. It has a lift to the street which is helpful for moving luggage. It may be public sector operated maybe private but it adds €18 a day to your costs and as most central hotels in Vic don't offer car parking they too point you here. Our hosts had a plastic card that allows you to enter and leave the car park as often as you like and pay once at the end. So all in all it was fairly good but no air con made it quite unpleasant daytime and very uncomfortable to try to sleep although it was very quiet every night. As A/C is listed in their blurb I don't think it reasonable to suggest one should still put a question to the owner about its availability in a particular apartment from the number offered. Given price point and the courteous owners it's 3 stars. We wouldn't return and it's tipped us off to be alert booking apartments going forward. Once bitten..... read more
