Apache Rifleworks - Comfort, Texas I recently visited Apache Rifleworks on a Thursday with my brother-in-law, who only speaks German, and my son, who had never shot before. From the moment we called ahead to ask about the details, we knew we'd picked the right place. Steve answered the phone and patiently walked us through everything we needed to know. He even told us to ask for him when we arrived, so he could personally guide us through the range experience. Upon arrival, Steve immediately recognized us and greeted us warmly. He guided us through signing the waivers and took extra time explaining gun safety to my son and brother-in-law, speaking slowly and waiting each time for me to translate. Steve's patience and thoroughness made a huge difference, especially since both of them were new to handling firearms. Steve's knowledge and dedication to safety were evident throughout. He walked us to the range and carefully demonstrated how to hold, shoot, and secure the firearms before, during, and after use. He and the staff didn't just give instructions and disappear--they checked on us periodically, offering pointers and making sure we felt comfortable. Apache Rifleworks isn't a massive range, which was perfect because it felt more personal and less like a place where you'd get lost in the crowd. The staff genuinely cared about our experience, making the visit feel welcoming and safe. Where I had a scope mount put on a mosin nagant and it was off in both windage and elevation. That was a project I intended to bring here. First off he's a one man show. Though his buddies hang out frequently which might lead you to believe otherwise. And so he isn't there regularly, even though his posted hours say he should be. Not a big deal I guess unless you're driving 35 mins one way to come pick up your firearms. Then I had the crazy idea of getting a pistol recoated because the last job wasn't doing very well. While he was great at explaining color patterns and options. He ultimately got my order wrong. Blamed it on me, even though he repeated it back to me correctly. When confronted he said all he could do was offer to redo the parts I needed redone at cost. Well that and he charged me a dis/assembly fee of $40 too which he said would be included in the total when I originally placed my order. And his fee was quite high to begin with. The only reason I did business with him in the first place was because he seemed to know his stuff, his customer pieces looked good, and most of his pricing was reasonable. But getting colors wrong and not fixing....I won't be back or recommend anyone there.
