A piece of our purchase failed in under 5 years (a problem in itself) and Hudson's takes no responsibility. Furniture Care Protection has ordered parts and shipped to the wrong address, only to discover the part was not the cause of the failure. 2-16 weeks - yes, two to SIXTEEN weeks to get the next part. Furniture Care Protection is a scam. Hudson's uses that scam company to eliminate their warranty responsibility. Be careful - DON'T buy the warranty, and think twice about Hudson's as they take zero responsibility for their products once it is at your home.

In three years after light use, the seats on the furniture have lost their support, actually sloping into the middle of the sofa and the lumbar area is totally non-existent! The upper part of the sofa slopes ( since it was delivered!) downward on the left side quite obviously. Matter Brothers delivery men claimed they didn't notice it at all when they brought it, saying "you must be imagining that!" No, it's actually measuring a few inches lower than the right side! The cushions slope inward a good two inches on each side toward the middle cushion ( which is higher than the outer ones) making them very uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. Even though our warranty states cushions, wooden frames, springs are warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship for FIVE YEARS, from the date of sale, Matter Brothers claims that the warranty company is a third party company and it has nothing to do with them, so they won't do anything to help us! My daughter bought a sectional from Ashley Furniture 11 years ago, it's a microfiber fabric. She has two dogs who love to jump on it, neighbors kids who jump on it, lots of company and parties and it still looks brand new and the cushions have stayed buoyant and lovely all this time! No sagging, no slouching, perfectly in shape! She urged me to shop at Ashley, I wish I had, she paid $800.00 for her sectional, she still has it and loves it! She since bought another sofa there. When I can unload this furniture, I'm going to shop there too! I urge you not to shop at Matter Brothers, they don't stand behind their products or their warranty company. My only gripe is that one of the books that I wanted was on a super high shelf, and it wasn't clear how I was supposed to get it, so I had to be creative with how I retrieved the book. I browsed the other aisles but didn't see anything in particular. I was mainly looking for books and excess tea; neither Ollie's had much of a tea selection. The employee that rang us up was nice and friendly, and there was basically no wait, although it might have been because they were closing soon. I definitely think a good value can be had here as long as you're not looking for anything super specific. I enjoy going to Ollie's for puzzle books and coloring books, of which there are many.

It's also better organized and has (somewhat) friendlier employees, albeit not all of 'em seem on board with that. Anyway, it dampens the "holiday spirit" of the store. Lots of holiday and seasonal goods for sale too. They got nothing on Robert's Christmas Wonderland on Gulf to Bay, but one of THOSE is probably one too many except in small doses. Meanwhile, Christmas music was playing in the store. Between every one or two songs was another Ollie's ad. Each one of 'em ends with the same phrase as though barked by a group of military recruits... "Ollies: good stuff CHEAP!!" That pretty well sums it up: hook, line and sinker. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you can find THEM too. I myself won't be doing so, but my dear Queen Bee loves the place. To me, it beats the be-jiggers outta Dollar Parlor, Greenback General or Goodwill. That doesn't really say very much, but then again: enough to expect from a discounter for the Scratch & Dent Special Brigade.
