I tried to cancel my membership and they told me constantly that I couldn't cancel and had to wait longer and after following the cancellation policy they told me they had no notes that I had started that process. This company is horrible and will screw you over every chance they get just to get more money from you. Don't come here no matter what you do. It has been a month since I made the post below. Still no resolution -- no call back. I am aq 70 year old woman with crippling arthritis and keep getting charged for membership- which I cannot do. Today I am reporting to the BBB, 3 on your side, as well as CONSUMER COMPLAINT OFFICE OF THE ARIZONA ATTORNEY GENERAL. 11/25/2024 This is a poorly run company -- and the site manager is pretty much useless. When I signed up he told me all they need is a month notice if I decide to leave,. then I had back surgery that went wrong, and was told by my neurologist to not work out as my right lower leg and foot were paralyzed and this affected my balance. So I contact anytime fitness and was then told I had to write a disenrollment letter, get a medical doctor to say that I cannot safely work out and sent this by certified mail. Really? Am I a high school kid trying to get out of gym class?? I complied, and they denied ever getting the letter. So I made copies of everything and hand delivered it to the site manager Ray. He said he would call to confirm my end of contract on Monday. Never heard back. I called today, 5 days later, no one could answer the phone and the message box was full. As a winter visitor I was looking for a gym that had the equipment I needed. I had planned on doing month to month membership but was advised there was a "glitch" in the system when signing up and was encouraged to sign up for three months. I later found out another gym was opening closer to me and was advised I could not cancel. The size of the gym is small but convenient when moving between equipment. The temperature is a bit warm and the gym is fairly clean. It is my fault for not pushing for the monthly membership. I am signed up at EOS which is less expensive and has many more amenities. The owner/operator(s) of this place are crooks. During 2020 I set up a home gym & no longer needed this gym membership, but it was inexpensive and I wanted to support small business so I kept my membership active. Six months ago I got a new credit card & forgot to change the card on file with the gym. Not only did nobody ever contact me to fix it but THEY SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS, who had been provided my email (proving the gym had that info & could have reached out) & a statement claiming they'd attempted to contact me several times. That's just not true. In this current economic climate, messing with someone's credit is nasty. If they had emailed me I would have immediately fixed the issue and continued giving them my $35/month. As a gym, it's OK. The problem is the management. They never answer the phone, they never respond to emails. I finally got in touch with some guy named "Vince" (refused to give me his last name) who said he was the area manager. He also said he doesn't know who the owner is. Once you sign a contract, you can never get out of it with these guys. They will bill you for life and make it impossible to cancel your membership. They require a "certified letter" sent to their address (which no one ever answers the phone) then you have to wait an additional 30 days, assuming anyone even gets your letter. In other words, these crooks are hoping to bill you for life. Very sleezy company. Not worth the hassle of dealing with these guys. Find a better gym. read more

Terrible place! Please stay away from this gym at all cost. The customer service is terrible and they will overcharge your bank account despite several attempts to resolve billing issues. I have tried to contact them several times and they never answer the phone or respond to voicemails. I attempted to cancel my membership with them, and although l provided the 30 day notice they requested, and signed the cancelation documents, they continue to charge my account for a membership I do not have anymore. I requested that they email a copy of the cancelation documents, but they have not done so up until now. Unless you want to have any issues like these in the future, I would suggest looking for a better gym. read more

I have been a member of Anytime for years. I live less than a mile away from this club but decided to transfer to another location. it is a corporate run facility that cannot keep anyone managing it. it is really a shame because it used to fit all my needs when Jon ran the club. now the televisions are all blank with direct tv logos, no tv on the elliptical machines, no disinfectant wipes although the big whiteboard has a lecture rules session on it telling you to wipe down equipment after using it; also to "wear deodorant". just couldn't do it anymore. I go to another individually owned Anytime and the difference is NIGHT AND DAY! really enjoy going there. owner is always on the ball, staff is super friendly and bright and clean! oh, and they also run the air conditioner too:). still quite a shame since I used to just walk to the gym but new place is worth the drive. i hope they figure things out for the members that still may be going there. read more

I've been going to this gym for over a decade. When it Closed the first time due to COVID I tried to cancel my membership but could not reach anyone. Even their voice mail said no one is checking it. It was frustrating. I had to travel to another state. So I went to location there. Even though it said face masks were required no one was wearing them. When I returned to Mesa it was the same. The gym closed again and I was unable to cancel my membership.. So I cAncelled my debit card. Now it is months later and they're wanting me to pay past due or they won't let me cancel the membership. We used to love this club until Covid it and they turned in to crooks!. We asked several times in writing to cancel our membership and they would not process the cancelation. Kept charging us. We finally canceled our Credit card to get the charges stopped and now we are fighting with collections. It is telling that they will not let you pay your annual fees up front with a check, and not they PERFER that you give them access to your checking account for monthly fees... so they can keep charging it. DO NOT DO IT. All you have to do is read the complaints to the BBB and Consumer Affair website to get a good idea of the way this company operates. read more

This is a great facility. Obviously open to members any time of day. This particular location does a great job of replacing equipment that wears out. There is a great room for classes or for using video workout routines. There are private showers available as well as a tanning booth. The staff is great as well. There are trainers on staff available to help get you pointed in the right direction if needed. Overall a very friendly atmosphere with all the equipment you need to get your workout on! The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because they don't have a separate bench press station. Most use the squat rack for this, which works great. But if you want to bench and someone is doing squats or vice versa you're out of luck. read more

I recently joined this gym, mostly because it was so close to my house and secondly because I have tried L.A. Fitness (the second closest) and was thoroughly disappointed in their ethics. Overcrowded, haven't been able to use a bench in 6 months. To top that off... They are continually having successful membership drives... So the crowding is just getting worse and worse. If you don't go to the gym during business hours, go somewhere else, as you probably won't have access to any of the equipment that you want to use when you want to use it. //Edit// Looks like a lot of other people got fed up with the gym and left. I'm giving a 5 Star rating because of how well I was treated, which really added to the experience. I'm in town for two weeks and on leave (just returned from Iraq) and needed a place to work out before going home. I walked in a spoke to Jennifer and explained my situation, and she said that she wouldn't charge me anything! She said that since I'm on leave and only in town for a couple weeks that should wouldn't charge me. (Good thing I wore my Army shorts!) It's a cozy gym with a good variety of cardio machines and strength training equipment. Because it's a smaller gym, it has potential to be crowded. It wouldn't be a gym of choice for Crossfitters but for most traditional workouts it's more than adequate. Enough sunlight gets in so I didn't feel like I was exercising in a box. I wanted to sign up with anytime fitness because it's close to my house and another gym is close to where I work. I was told I can only go to one gym for the first month...I could not go to another Anytime Fitness until after thirty days. There is also a 12 month or 18 month contract. I would skip this gym and go to Planet Fitness where they honor their advertisement of being able to go to any gym at any time. Plus something about this Mesa location was creepy. read more

She said, the person who can help us is on lunch, gave us a phone number, we called, no one return my call in 4 days, we visited the site and send an inquiry email, got an automated response that someone will call, another 3 days went by with no calls!! I am in a band from the Bay Area, and we are on tour, we ended up stopping in through the Anytime fitness in Mesa and I want to make it known that it was the best experience I have ever had at a gym, or any other anytime fitness. So far my experience and expectation of this company is not good. To be fair I have not used the facility, but I have been inside. My problem is that I can't seem to reach anyone that is willing to be professional enough to keep their appointment with me. I talked to someone named Mike. Mike scheduled to meet me but never showed and never called to reschedule. I took time out of my day to drive over and wait but no show on Mike's part. I finally get a phone call four hours later with some excuse and then the audacity to try and sale me on a current promotion for the month of February. Say, "he'll offer me that for the mess up". Best gym in east Mesa! The Anytime staff is always nice and welcoming when people arrive. Just like its name, Anytime is open anytime for members which is incredibly convenient. Having 24/7 access means you'll have one less excuse for not being able to fit in a workout. Unlike the nearby gyms, Anytime Fitness has plenty of cardio machines, free weights and offers a few classes at times that can accommodate those that work a 9 to 5 job. I've been a member for many years and have never thought about going elsewhere simply because there is no reason to. The staff, equipment, low member rates and convenient hours keeps me around a member. read more

My husband and I recently joined this gym to augment our nutrition plan and get lean and fit. We don't require a lot of equipment, but loved this place for the number of cardio machines available. We do a lot of body work exercises and they have a cool room to do these in. Also, the days we do lift weights or do machines, those are available, too. We prefer working out with a trainer and THIS is the ONLY reason I don't give this place 5 stars. We did not have good luck with the trainer that was there when we first enrolled. He is now gone, but the experience left a bad taste in our mouths about it. The staff and managment did an amazing job of helping us out with the situation, so they did redeem themselves. Just waiting to meet with a new trainer...I love how close this place is to my home, the parking is ample and the other patrons as well as the staff are super friendly. I don't ever feel pressure or intimidated; just regular folks working out. I like that. read more
