Anya is very accomodating and will do everything she can to make alterations come out perfectly. Nost recently she carefully considered altering my husband's old, wide lapel, suede sports coat shich he wanted to look up-to-date, but she finally had to admit it just couldn't be done. This is my third time using Anya. As long as she's in New Bern she has my businesses! Prior to today's visit we brought in 2 suits for her alter. My husband had lost a lot of weight and they just hung on him and they were quality suits still in great shape, so had her do those. She charged $70.00 per suit and she did an amazing job!!!! Today I took in three blouses to be altered and she was just so accommodating. She is soft spoken, sweet as can be and is very sensitive to your wants and concerns with out the overbearing loud nonsense at so many other locations I've been to. There are 3 spacious changing rooms and two large mirrors on the floor like in a bridal shop to use. Don't waste your time and money looking around. Go see Anya! You'll be so glad you did! That's why , after going to her 3 times now and being well pleased each time, I changed my 4 stars to a 5 STAR business. read more

Anya is rude and incompetent. She did not listen to requests and insulted my personal appearance. Not sure how she makes any money as after 5 minutes it was clear she didn't know what she was doing. My time with her was filled with rude remarks and condescending behavior. I would not recommend her to my friends or anyone else for that matter. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Upon arrival Anya did not know who we were or why we were there. When asking to do a few alterations just taking in and moving seams or asking suggestions on what could be done to make this dress fit better we were told to pin ourselves and she did not know how to help us. She expressed that my daughter needed to lose weight or that she should go online and find another dress. When we asked to just leave with our dress she said she needed her pins back and proceeded to put 3 holes in the bottom on of the dress. We then went to another seamstress in the same town and were able to get exactly what needed to be done and will be done within a decent amount of time. Sadly my experience was not good at all! I took a dress to be altered for the Marine Corps Ball. I am 4'11 and knew to purchase my shoes before I took my dress in. I went in and told her I wanted the dress to cover the front of the shoe. She marked the dress with chalk and told me it would be easier to cut off the whole train because of how short I was. I also told her I wanted some beads removed 3 to be exact, and two small pieces of lace removed from the sides of the dress. I agreed and told her that was fine for her to rove my train to make her job easier!! Two weeks later I came back to try in my dress. Two weeks was the turn around time she gave me. She told me If it was ready before she would call me. Before I left I asked her how much would the Alterations be. She said it would be $45.00. After 5 days I got impatient and went in. As soon as I saw my dress I knew it was too short! I put it on and sure enough I could see me ankles! I was heart broken! My dress was $200.00!! I told her it was too short right away! She asked me if I was wearing the same shoes! I said yes they are the same shoes!!! She asked me if I was sure!!! Pretty damn sure I bought those shoes for that dress!! She said she would try and fix it. She added Black lace to the blue gown! She said she would let out the hem to make it a little longer. She told me it would be another two weeks!!! I went to pick it up today and she said it was $65.00!! I asked her for what?! You said $45.00!!! She said "I fixed the dress for you because it was too short for free!" I immediatly thought It is not my fault you made a mistake!! You cut my dress too short after I brought and wore the shoes for you to correctly adjust the leangth!!! She failed to make this customer happy!! I will never again use her for any type of alteration's!! I told her "you told me it would be $45.00 now because you make a mistake it is $65.00?!? She said it was 20 for the beads she removed, 3 beads that she kept for $20?!!?! Who charges that much for making a mistake?!? I will never again I use this business and I hope this does not happen to you!! She had my dress for the entire month of October! I dropped it off to her in September!! I have been taking my clothes of all types to take in the inseams, lengthen and shorten shirt sleeves . She always has a smile when you walk in and is very professional dealing with customers. I've tried another alteration company but Anya's Alteration is the only place I will take my clothes because I know when I pick them up, it is done right. Anya wants you to try them on but I pass on that as she has always done a 10+. read more

I came across Anya's on Yelp when I was looking for someone to alter my ball gown for the MCB this past year. I had ordered my dress from overseas and it took so long to arrive I only had 1 week till the ball, and so I needed someone to do it QUICK. I drove all the way to Anya's in New Bern from Jacksonville to see if Anya could do the job. I HAD called her prior to driving all that way, and she said she could, but wanted to see the dress and make sure. Getting there was kind of a pain in the a$$, but whatever. It's not the store's fault. The shop itself is super cute. A lovely waiting area, 3 HUGE dressing rooms, and you can see all of the other clothing items that are being worked on hung nicely and neatly in organized racks. I put on my dress, told Anya what I need altered, and she makes marks and pins places and in about 5 min I was done. 5 days later I go to pick up my dress and it fits PERFECTLY. I was so happy that Anya was quick, friendly and understanding about the needs of getting my dress done. I highly recommend her! read more

Anya's Alterations did a great job with my wedding dress! I took my dress about 2 months before my wedding to be taken in. A few weeks later I went back for a fitting and I had lost a little weight so it had to be taken in a bit more. I picked up my dress 3 weeks before the wedding and it fit perfectly. I tried my dress on the Monday night before my Saturday wedding and I had apparently lost weight I didn't know I had lost because my dress was a few inches too big! Frantically I called Anya's as soon as they opened Tuesday and she told me to bring it in and she could fix it in time. She was able to get my dress finished in two days and I had my dress fitting perfectly by Thursday afternoon! She didn't even charge a rush fee. My dress had very intricate beading all over the top half of the dress and she was able to alter the dress without causing any issues with the beading. read more
