This water park has a community size pool big enough to fit the entire family and then some. Fully functional showers and restrooms are available as well, come take a dip on your next trip to Pittsburg California.

The park is in a relatively deep valley, you park at the top and walk down. Halfway down are picnic tables, so you can sit up there and watch the activity. There is also a large picnic area on the east side, complete with a large barbecue pit. A newer playset has been installed. Pool close to the freeway. Bay Point gets windy, but the wind gets blocked by the freeway and the gully, so Ambrose Park is fine. I've been here several times since the 1990s, and I've never seen it busy. I can imagine how it was in the 1950s, it probably got a lot of use. Now California has bought up all of the bungalows between Bailey Road & the park and torn them down, making a surreal drive to the park. West Picksburg was a BAD area in the late twentieth century, and although things have gotten better, the newer housing has not affected this park much. I wonder if people are scared to come to Ambrose Park; see Michelli V's review. Ambrose Park is pretty, shady, and retro, but keep your guard up.

Listen, I can appreciate a restored marshland as much as the next guy, but I'd be hard-pressed to…read morerecommend you move heaven and earth to come visit the 150 acres that make up this shoreline. First of all, access to the space is constrained by the mile-long loop trail you're directed to follow. It's flat, it's paved, and it's short. Let's just say your FitBit won't break a sweat unless you do laps. However, the various birds - once they get used to your recurrent and redundant appearance - will get understandably bored and fly off into the delta. The official trail provides benches but ironically doesn't get you close to the shoreline despite the name. Nevertheless, there's a rogue trail of sorts in the opposite direction from the parking lot that does get you to the river. You're likely run into some locals who have parked themselves on beer coolers to fish. Shades of "Deliverance". It's not without its charms, but there are more scenic and biodiverse marshlands to be experienced in the Bay Area. RELATED - Up for a hike? There's also a clean sturdy restroom, as well as a covered area with plenty of picnic tables. We were here for a clean up the shoreline day, and we found about 10 bags of trash. Actually, even before we picked up I thought the park was pretty clean. We enjoyed our visit to the park. The main trail takes you out to a marshy area. The day that we were here, several people brought their dogs to frolic around and have fun. There's another interesting trail that goes along the railroad track. So overall, nothing really spectacular, but a good place to spend an hour or two.
