Late Gothic Landmark with Limited Hours…read more Peter Parler and Matthias of Arras designed and built this 14th century spired cathedral. It is so interesting how the "face" has been changed with the addition of a building directly in front of the church entry. Climb the Old Town Hall Towers for a better view. Note: There are limited hours for entry. Check the schedule, we were lucky to enter 5 minutes before they closed midday.

Despite visiting years ago, it took living here for a month for me to learn its name or explore inside. It wasn't until one of my new friends invited me along for a classical music performance that I became acquainted with it. I heard that it's a rarity to be able to attend a concert in the church, but I also heard the opposite, so I'm not actually sure. Either way, if you have the extra funds and want to experience some local, albeit touristy, culture, be sure to book through Via Musica. The ticket cost me around $38 (935 crowns...NOT cheap!!) but I think it was worth it for a one-time visit. I spent most of the 65-minute concert mesmerized by the church itself. Faces everywhere. Gold everywhere. Intricate designs. Unreal beauty. It was such an amazing experience! It was also cold. Keep in mind it's a very old church. Even though it's indoors, it's not like they have central heating so you'll still feel the elements. Dress appropriately! And be sure to arrive early for a good seat. If you're visiting Prague, don't miss a trip inside this church. Classical concert or not!

We had multiple servers who were so attentive. In addition, there was a pianist on an acoustic piano playing nice music (NOT an electric keyboard w/boom chicka booms). I started with their soup of the day-cauliflower. The picture doesn't do it justice. We each ordered the filet mignon which came with roasted potatoes and a salad. The meat portion was huge and there were plenty of potatoes. To finish I had a crème brûlée, my favorite dessert. It did not disappoint. Overall, it was a lovely dinner and then after we went upstairs to a string concert. A great night.

I got the mini pancake with the berry jam and a cappuccino. The jam on the pancake was tangy and sour and sweet, which elevated the dish. The server that served us was good, but we went around 8:30, and there were only 4 other customers sitting down. We didn't see a server at first or a hostess, so we tried to ask someone that's behind the entrance making coffee if we can just sit down. Let me tell you that she was so rude, as in she didn't even acknowledge our existence and totally stared and turned her head away. For an establishment in the middle of a tourist center open during breakfast hour, maybe have a cup or two of coffee so you don't become so rude. A few days in Prague, and by far, this was the rudest encounter. Everywhere else, they were super nice.

You really do earn your views, walking up to this monument…read more I have to put a disclaimer out there, though - we made the mistake of trying to visit Vitkov without checking their site. I had us allotting time to this monument on a different day in the week, but we needed to make adjustments on the fly, which led to us making the long hike up the hill and many steps only to find...the museum was closed. Yeah...that blew. But - the views! The WIND! It was super windy the day we went. It was also a beautiful sunny day. There were a few people that were hanging out in the sun, or taking pictures of the fantastic vistas, and even - crazily enough! - running up and down the steps. We were surprised by how devoid of people it was, but once we found out that the museum was closed, it made a ton of sense. The monument is HUGE. There just aren't any words to describe how freaking big this thing is. My husband spent a good few minutes staring, wondering aloud how they got something so large up so high. It's incredibly impressive, and I'm sad that we weren't able to visit the museum to learn more about the history of the place. We actually walked the whole way up and down. I'm sure there are trams and/or buses that can get you there faster, but we didn't feel comfortable with public transit at that point, and thought the walk would be nice. We were right, but it's tough. Definitely worth the time and effort, though. Even with the wind and the many steps, I'd go back (when it's open) to visit.

This kicked us into gear..... located in Zizkov (Praha 3), we walked from our garsonka and through the tunnel that leads up on a trial to climb the very visible hill which has at its top, the Hussite leader Jan Zízka (not to be confused with Jan Hus), and then OVER the top of it into Karlin, Praha 8. In fact, all of the Praha 3 quarter is named after this dude who courageously fought a historic battle, pushing back the Crusaders. It was a very cold day and the hike took a good few hours.....most memorial was the large equestrian statue by Bohumil Kafka was erected in 1950. Too, there is a large mass of marble and granite overlooking the city. Super interesting; glad I did it. Lots of locals to say "Dobry den" to.
