This company had poured a driveway in the past for me without issue so I said ok - get a quote. Eddie came out, quoted the job, and was hired - a week later I got a text asking if I wanted the existing pavers in the area to be saved after the concrete was poured, and that he would be out that day to measure for the prep work. I said yes. This was the only time Eddy contracting spoke with me during the job. Two days later no one had come by, and I had no contact. The landscaper brought a different contractor over to quote the job & agreed to contact Eddy to cancel. The next day I had to go out of town and returned to find the pavers removed from the area. The landscaper was not able to get a hold of Eddy, but the other company confirmed it was not them, so Eddy had done it. The landscaper called Eddy again to cancel, a subsequent phone call the next & Eddy was not answering his phone, another phone call was made and a voicemail left not to finish the job. I left town and returned 2 days later to find a concrete slab poured and covered with a Tarp. After we confirmed it was Eddy's work - the other company was informed that we couldn't continue as Eddy refused to answer the phone, return messages, or accept a cancellation. I wasn't truly upset until the next day when his employees had come to lift the tarp and I saw the pad that was poured. This was the first time I face to face got to meet anyone from his company on my property and speak to them about the job. The job was to connect two concrete foundation blocks that were about 8" deep and make one solid level pad out of all of them. Eddy's team poured a small concrete patio slab over top of existing base material that was under the removed pavers. The amount of concrete was about half of that of the other pads, and not all of the pavers had been removed so they jutted between the existing deck work and the concrete. Eddy contracting then hammered out the pavers on the border from the pad and under the deck - revealing a large nearly 3" gap. The pad was not flat foundation, it was sloped. I was told that it had to be this way for drainage - even though what was asked for was a flat block to connect to the existing foundation blocks. They asked for a check, I told them I wouldn't pay until I spoke with their boss. Steven Eddy called me demanding money, no courtesy of "how can we fix this, what's the problem?" even though just two years prior I handed him $12,000.00 cash for a driveway. I asked him if he saw the job his people did, he said no. After an hour of talking he said that he would see what could be done to fix it and contact me back. I explained what was wrong, why I was unhappy, and how it wasn't what I had ordered installed. A little over a week passed, this morning Steve Eddy called me demanding money. He then proceeded to tell me that I was crazy, there was nothing wrong (even though it's a completely different project than the landscaper hired him for) and started insulting my home (unfinished stucco) He became, loud, angry, and when told to calm down threatened me and told me to meet him somewhere to fight. I'm a grown adult, being asked to meet for a fight like I'm some testosterone imbalanced teenager. I still have to pay now to have the shoddy work removed. Eddy was told he can see me in court if he feels he deserves payment. The worst part is there was no communication with me prior to the job work being done, or even during. The entire time I've told him that if he repairs the job I would pay, but not until it's right. He would rather insult someone verbally and threaten violence. Very professional. If you would like to overpay for shoddy work, then be threatened with violence when you asked for it to be fixed, whilst having to pay someone else to rip it all out and re-do it. Well, this is the company you'll get that from.

Six of my neighbors ended going with Barrier Reef. Side note, they stopped using a two pour method when doing the concrete work around the pool. He asked us if we would like to have a 2' different color border around the pool to give it some contrast. We agreed. Concrete work was done by their subcontractor, a fellow by the name Rafe who we only saw the day the work started and the day he picked up the money. Two of the three workers were heroin addicts. This was told to me by Rafe their boss after he fired them. Long story short when they poured the concrete sections , the 2' border around the pool and the rest of the decking, which was substantial, they never used any rebar to strengthen and tie together both sections. So starting several years ago my fiberglass pool began sinking. Sent pictures to Barrier Reef per their request via the internet. They would NEVER talk to you on the phone if you were an old customer. In person calls I guess are only for those folks who are thinking about buying a BR pool. My advice, DON'T! Oh, I almost forgot to mention Mr. Danny Stone, who was on site years ago when my pool was installed. He was BR's Customer Service Mgr at Timmonsville, SC. I actually talked to him a few times, sent him some of the pics of the problem. Then he wouldn't return my calls then stopped taking my calls altogether. Turns out that using the 2 pour concrete method without rebar was not a sound way to do the concrete around the pool. Mr Stone sent me an email that installation was only guaranteed for a year. Well that would have been fine if BR had employees or subcontractors who weren't using drugs and knew when to use rebar when installing the concrete around my pool. DO NOT USE BARRIER REEF. Come out and look at my pool.

First, they did not use dropcloths. Second, despite charging $1500 for the job, paint ended up on our driveway, garage lights, windows, hose & holder, mulch, plants, windchimes, front porch concrete, walkway concrete & porch light. The job was careless & poorly executed. The owner came out several times to address the situation, but each visit seemed to make matters worse. While attempting to remove paint from the walkway using denatured alcohol, he damaged the concrete & stripped paint from the bottom of our hanging porch light. These problems did not exist before they came to our home to do the painting. As a result of their work, we are now left with a damaged light fixture & damaged concrete-both caused by this company. While the owner did attempt to correct these issues, his efforts only made the damage worse. After that, he stopped attempting to fix the problems altogether & did not offer to repair the damage or provide any form of compensation. We are not being unreasonable. We are simply asking that the items be restored to the condition they were in before this company came to our home. Rather than focusing on correcting the problems & taking responsibility for the poor workmanship, the owner repeatedly diverted the conversation to unrelated personal topics. This made it clear that resolving the issues with our property was not a priority. Considering that we are senior citizens, we truly feel like we were taken advantage of. Our concerns were dismissed, and we were treated unfairly & with a lack of respect when we tried to have the problems corrected. We made several calls asking them to repair the damage, but our calls were ignored. It also appears that they use different crews, because a neighbor's home was painted properly, with garage lights removed & drop cloths used for protection. Unfortunately, that level of care was not given to our home. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this company and strongly urge others not to usetheir services.
